The night passes without incident until just before dawn, when the sound two elderly women can be heard outside and getting closer. Without knocking the kitchen door opens and the two old women dressed rather warmly for the season is knitted coats and shawls enter. They are followed by three boys with baskets of bread, eggs, and pottery jars. The subject of the old women's quarrel seems to be who is in worse health, though they both seem to be in good health for their wrinkly age.
Once the boys have delivered their baskets, they attempt to make a run for it, but are stopped by demands of wood for the fireplace and small kitchen stove, and buckets of water. Once those chores are done, they do make their escape as the grandma's topic of discussion turns to (to your horror) prospective brides for some of your party.
However, soon the eggs are fried and the table set with sausages, pickled cabbage and carrots, bread, apple butter and currant jam.
"Com'n. Com'n, get yourselves up. And someone go wake that lazy wizard up," the command just as the sun begins to peak over the horizon.
With a startle Ragnik wakes from his deep slumber and takes a moment before being able to compose himself "Apologies ladies, it would seem that Delon's couch was comfier than it looks!" he says to the women with a smile "I shall wake him and make him aware of breakfast." He makes his way to the Wizards quarters, loudly banging on the door to rouse him from his sleep. Ragnik listens at the door (Perception-8) to ensure that the Wizard has woken before returning to group.
"Arghhh. 'cept for the sound of falling apples and night owls, twas a quiet night. You'll find some fresh bread, sausages and dried fruit in sacks by the door. Should be enough to get you to the Druids if 'le Delon was right about the distance. Now, you just eat up, you'll need your strength for such a long walk."
Delon finally makes his way downstairs. "Well, thank you Bobcha Wiara and Bobcha Lilia. I think we can take it from here. And I'm sure your own husbands need looking after."
Delon waits for the old women to leave before his face takes on a serious expression. "A demon," he says quietly as he shakes his head. "They aren't my area of specialty so I can't tell you much more. I suggest you keep the coin and try to get it to your superiors when possible."
Eraleigh is a crabby morning person and fumbled around the kitchen for coffee.
”So… we’re going to see if we can find these Druids and sort things out. But where is the marshal who was s’posed to be here? What’s his name?” He snaps his fingers a few times trying to remember
Ragnar observes the conversation as he eats his breakfast, also wondering where the local marshal is.
"If I may inquire lads," Ragnar asks the group, "Druids normally don't summon demons or associate with demons, is there another problem we may have to deal with?"
"Marshal assigned here," he questions himself as he thinks. "Ahh, must mean that young man Evan. Guessed he might be a Marshal, but he never said. Ranges all over the forest to the north, used to come by every 2 or 3 months. Haven't seen him since before winter. Its a little long, but not what I would say unusual."
"No, no, I can't imagine the Druids have anything to do with Demons. Besides, you found this coin out on the plains, yes? This circle has always been focused on this wood here."
Lucius nods, “We will see if we come across him on our travels”.
”I think we should be going as soon as we have eaten, make the most of the daylight. Is there anything else you can think of that might be of help before we leave Delon? Any stories of bandits or wild animals, or anything that might make these druids more amenable to our request”.
"There are always rumors of bandits and wolves in the Woode. Over the winter there was a party of Dwarves that were attacked by bandits north of here, past where the main road splits."
“Aye let’s be off quick and make the most of the light.” Ragnik pushes off from the table to collect and don his gear (Blessing of the forge on his armour again). “If anyone needs their gear fixing let me know and I’ll see if I can mend it or better yet make something new”
"I should be fine for now thanks, Ragnik", Lucius replies.
"If we meet any bandits we'll make sure we persuade them a change of job is in order. Thank you again for the information and hospitality", he adds to Delon.
Gathering his stuff together, he raises the hood of his cloak and wanders outside to wait for the others.
Nadaar says "Yes, let us be on our way." He stands up, does a quick pat to make sure he has everything. He says "Thank you for your hospitality. What do we owe you for room and board?"
You make your way back to the main road, seeing lights on in the houses you pass, with blue smoke issuing from the chimneys. On the north end of town there are a couple of dilapidated farm houses, abandoned during the troubles. The Wilderness road continues north into the Great Woode toward the mountains. The trees are tall and old, and the forest is alive with the sound of scurrying animals and the call of birds. Honeysuckle grows so thickly along the road, reaching high and into the road for light, blotting out the forest beyond in many places. The road here is less well maintained and a thick layer of falling and decaying leaves, along with branches are differing sizes carpet the road. The ash, oak and birch have created a canopy so thick it is difficult to tell the time of day.
As promised it is easy to find where the Old Wilderness Road crosses, though it is barely used, the crossroad is open. The Old road runs east and west, and seems to wind away into the distance. Great tree roots and fallen branches stretch across its length, making it a difficult journey for any wagon.
Away on the west branch you see a group of men approaching (about 50 ft away), and are making good time, neither tarrying nor running. Their faces are expressionless. One is dressed as a cleric of some sort, and another is dressed as a travelling drummer. The others could be peasants or serfs going from one location to another. Each carries some sort of weapon. It is plain that they are not soldiers by their haphazard way of walking. They do not seem to be joking loudly or singing as they advance.

"Now that is a smell to delight the senses", he says looking at the spread they had served.
"My thanks to you ladies", he adds with a bow, before taking a seat and waiting for the others to join them before tucking in.

Lucius spots the travellers and retrieves his shield from his back, and turns to towards them.
”Greetings, fellow travellers”, he calls out, his hand raised acknowledging them.
Belying his friendly greeting, his eyes narrow under his hood searching the group for signs of hostile intent.
Perception: 9
Ragnar will move to a supporting position near Lucius, keeping the travelers in view without masking himself if he has to draw an arrow.
Eraleigh draws a knife but keeps it hidden in his cloak, and steps behind Lucius.
