Rasp felt some sort of kinship with the pseudodragon, displayed by an uncharacteristic softness in the Kenku's eyes. Rasp only spared a single moment to softly run a hand behind the pseudodragon's neck, electing to stay silent for the time being; each struggled with words, both overcoming the difficulties of communication barring each from regular speech.
Regardless, after noting the pseudodragon's warning, Rasp leveled his shield before the party in the direction of the door, reaching into his pocket to bring out his talisman; the humanoid skull somehow preserved from natural decay swinging lightly on a steel chain carved to resemble a spine. Rasp had attempted to keep his contracts a secret, but Rasp has found in times like this, most clung to his side rather than feared him for his abilities. Talks of morals could wait until later.
A dull ring clanged through the air as Rasp tested the vicinity for traces of unholy (Expending another use of Divine Sense; if something is found, the skull will crackle with purple flame as in the picture above). "I suggest we go towards the other door," the Kenku mimicked, pulling words from the voices of his several newfound companions.
Edrik follows the group along the south path, past the crystals to the kraken door. "So, Eldeth, you see conjuration magic from the crystals and conjuration magic from the door? You suppose they're linked?" He shrugs, "Not that I can see how that would help us. He hangs back as others attempt to open the door.
(I am presuming Faloniir fails to open it, same as Matthias. But if he succeeds then ignore the following.) "Do we know if it is locked? Or just somehow sealed." From the distance he will try and look for a keyhole or other mechanism to open. (Investigation: 11)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
DEX save 23 (possible damage 4)
Rasp reaches out spiritually, probing the area for any evil or undead but senses nothing. Faloniirascends the steps and places his hand upon the door and learns that it is securely locked. Before he can turn away, five spectral tentacles whip through the air and seek to grab hold of the wood elf. Faloniir proves to be too alert for the trap to work; he avoids their grasp and leaps deftly from the stairs.
After that acrobatic display, Edrik ascends the steps and studies the door but sees nothing out of the ordinary in regards to how one might open it. There is a lock mechanism, and, based on Faloniir's unsuccessful attempt to open the door, it seems necessary to pick the lock.
(Question: Is Matthias making his way into the room just north of this door?)
"Oh, I suppose it could be linked," Eldeth says. "The main thing is that we know to look out for --" She lets out a brief yelp as the spectral tentacles whip out at Faloniir. "Like that. I don't think I can suppress that." She'll look to see where exactly the magic is coming from. "I feel like it'd go right through a shield. Maybe I can help with mage hand? We can also just get ready to pull you back if it does that again."(Trying to give advantage on the save.)
Edrik will get out his thieves' tools and try to pick the lock. (Thieves' Tools: 20). He's anticipating the tentacles to appear and be ready to dodge out of the area should they appear.
Matthias would flinch seeing the tentacles go for the wood elf, anticipating getting attacked next. Upon settling down, he'd watch Edrik get a crack at the door, making the noble chuckle at the sight and aiming at the door. "You're a ballsy one, Edrik!"
If Matthias would hear the click of the lock, he'd pause, but smile after nothing was happening for a few seconds. "Perfect. Now let's press on." He'd follow the party past this kraken door. He would not be leading, but he'd also keep an eye out for any threats past the door, whether they be traps or monsters.
Matthias would check the first door on the left, curious and check to see if the door was unlocked. Not opening it, just checking if it was locked or not.
Matthias tests the first door on the left; giving it a small tug, he confirms that it is unlocked. Eldeth, now at the top of the steps, detects nothing magical.
Matthias whistles sharply and signals to the door in-front of him. Slowly and very very carefully, he'd crack the door open ever so gently, pushing it only as far as to get the latch loose from the door. Once this was done, he'd mutter for all to hear, "One... Two... Three...!" At the count of three, with his bow and arrow ready, Matthias would give a sharp kick to open the door wide open and ready himself to attack any hostiles.
Matthias kicks open the door, and all hell breaks loose.
A ghoul within the room immediately charges the open door. Faloniir sinks two arrows into the vile creature's chest, but the wounds are insufficient to stop its charge. It falls upon the ranger with a mouthful of jagged teeth...
Bite attack: 7 causing 12 piercing damage
And the sound of battle alerts two additional ghouls to the north, which have begun their charge toward the party...
Reacting immediately after the ghouls attack, Rasp steps forwards and holds his shield against the Ghoul while reaching down to press a feathered hand to Faloniir's torn neck. The Ranger's body jitters as searing, purple light radiates from Falonir's mouth and eyes, wracking the man with intense pain - yet keeping him alive, for the time being. Rasp silently stands and prepares to defend against the invasion of ghouls - and merely a moment later, Faloniir suddenly returns to consciousness.
Action - expending 1/5 point of Lay on Hands to bring Faloniir back up.

Matthias' eyes would grow wide watching Rasp, pausing and heeding his instruction. Where in the Nine Hells did that even come from?!

Beyond this door is a narrow hallway with two doors on the left. The hallway empties into an oddly-shaped room.
