Resmae watches Aros with growing concern. What are they going to do if this Jangle can't help her best friend? Would they have to cut a hole where her mouth should be so she can drink and eat?? The thought sends shudders through her.
As they finally get to the door, Bugs's assistance makes her laugh as Chapley finally knocks on the wooden door. Well, guess we'll find out soon what this goblin can and will do. She looks to the fairy dragon to see how they are faring at this particular juncture.
The sound is louder than you expected as Chapleys knuckles bang on the wooden door and the sound echos up the tunnel from whence you came.
The muffled singing and jangling from inside stops...
Silence... (pause for effect)
The sound of footsteps run toward the door along with the sound of a crescendoing jangle...
Suddenly and furiously, a small square door slides open about 3 feet up in the larger door. One that you had not noticed, and you see the light break through, along with a small but wide open eyeball as it rolls around and peers inquisitively around at you all.
"Yes?" is the timid inquiry from the eyeball peering at you from behind the door.
Bugs stays back as an eyeball, presumably belonging to Jingle Jangle, peered out at them from within the door. Hopefully Halei would speak for them. She seemed charismatic and wasn't harengon. Or maybe Wildred. Chapley would work as well, but he didn't really know the whole story and . . . well . . . Chapley seemed best suited for whacking snakes upside the head. He'd been quite good at that. And he knocked well. With encouragement. But spokesperson for the group? He wouldn't judge too quickly, maybe the big man had hidden depths.
Chapley squats down, getting his face level and close with the eye peering out through the little opening. He tilts his head, scratches his jaw, and says, "Hello, terribly sorry to bother you, is there a Ms. Jangle here? Jingle Jangle. Word is she's got keys, and we've got a lock, so it seemed right that we'd pop down give her a visit"
He looks over his shoulder and gives his companions a premature thumbs up.
Resmae looks to both Bugs and Wildred and shakes her head, she thought Chapley did a great job! She then gives him a big smile and returns the thumbs up.
Halei pipes up after the hushed whisper from Sir Talavar, "Hello! Yes, Wigglewog sent us! Our new friend is stuck in this cage and we are trying to help him out!"
She then looks to Chapley and Resmae and copies their thumbs-up.
She steps up closer towards the strangers in the doorway as she speaks so she can see and engage with them better.
"Oh!" comes the little voice via the eyeball in the door, "Come in and keep Jingle Jangle company then." The little door inside the door slides shut with a slam.
There is a brief moment of silence. Then the sound of Jangling inside the room, then "door's open!" calls the voice from within.
Chapley, you open the door to an oval-shaped den. About 20 feet wide and 30 feet deep, with a small sleeping chamber at the far end. The room is bathed in warm firelight emanating from a fire underneath a large pot of soupy stew in the centre of the room. When you open the door, your nostrils dance with delight at the aroma of the stew.
From a distant spot within the chamber, sputtering candles illuminate a multitude of keys dangling from taut strings that crisscross the walls. Hundreds of other keys lie strewn across the dirt floor. As you take in the scene, you see the goblin on the other side of the fire. She wears a coat lined with metal keys and carries a flail with padlocks for heads. She stirs the stew and manages a faint smile, "Jingle Jangle welcomes you to her home. You'd better come in from the cold dearies."
With the promise of warmth, Resmae forgets about what Bugs said on the fact the goblin might have been robbed by harengons so they should stay back, and hops off of Sammy and runs right in. She pauses as she takes in the place so adorned with keys, standing with her mouth open and slowly spinning, she finally stops when she faces Jingle Jangle again. "Wow, this is quite the place you've got here. So so many keys!! Do you know what they all go to? Have you been collecting keys your whole life? Why do you live way down here in this cold hollow? Well, you do keep it nice and warm in here, thanks so much for inviting us in! I'm Resmae by the way!"she starts bouncing a bit in place as the excitement of the place washes over her.
"Yes, thank you for letting us in, the cave is quite cold. You sure do collect a lot of keys, would any of them happen to go to Sir Talavar little cage? He's been stuck in here for a while and could really use some help." Halei eyes the soup and silently hopes the goblin will invite them to eat. "Oh, and my name is Halei," she had almost forgotten to introduce herself.
Bugs follows the others in and waits for the others to speak first. Harengon aside, it is an odd looking group. Chapley is the only actual adult in the group by appearances and Bugs himself wasn't much older than the kids. But Jingle Jangle seemed friendly.
"I'm Balliol Bugglesworth. It is a pleasure to meet you." Nothing had been said of her yet, but Aros' dilemma remained foremost in his mind.
Wildred plodded in looking and surveying left and right, he silently wondered if maybe this friendly little goblin knew much about the key he had been given?..after resmae and Halei had finished there question he waited for the goblin to answer....
Then he questioned Jingle Jangle
"So tell me how well do you know your keys?....would you say beable to tell what they opened or atleast that is the type of lock it opened like a door or a chest per say?..or do they all just look the same to you like they do to me?"
You step into the homely hollow as the goblin potters around. She briefly glances at each of you as you enter. Pausing only to offer a smile toward Chapley before returning to her muttering and busy fussing.
You manage to decipher the following between her incoherent talking to herself.
"Oh no, not for Jingle Jangle's whole life. Jingle Jangle was afflicted by a terrible curse. Jingle Jangle was to be locked away. Lorna, bless her, cured Jingle Jangle. I think it was around that time that Jingle Jangle started her collection. Each key is special."
She greets you all as she continues her pottering. Picking up keys from the floor. Stirring the stew. Removing the dust from places with the back of her hand. Offering you a place to sit.
The goblin stops at Halei, holding Sir Talavar's cage. "Is this the lock that needs a key?" She bends down to inspect the cage's lock. "And Wigglewog?" she questions "How is h...".
The goblin stops in front of Halei, "That's Wigglewog's sword!" she says, pointing to Halei's new shortsword. Her eyes narrow into a suspicious glare.
"Uhhh, heh..." Halei laughs uncomfortably. "Maybe Sir Talavar can explain it best, since Wigglewog was his pal and all." She lifts his cage up and forward.
Resmae starts hopping up and down urgently, "Wait wait before you do any of that, can you please, please help my best friend? She got hit by some kind of bug and has lost her mouth! This was yesterday and she isn't doing well at all! Pleeease?" Seeing that Jingle Jangle is already on edge with seeing Wigglewog's sword, she's a bit worried that she won't help them at all. Sure, she wants to help the fairy dragon, but he isn't in dire need!!
Bugs smiled at Jingle Jangle and wished that he had a key to add to her collection. But he didn't usually carry such things around with him everywhere he went. He was about to ask about Aros when Resmae hopped up and down to plead her case. "It was a smapper, apparently. Aros really does need help."
Other than that he was willing to stand back and watch. Wildred and Halei had taken the lead on getting the Faerie Dragon released and Resmae on Aros. Bugs decided he was best just standing back with Chapley.
The goblin stands tall. With hands on her hips, she halts any other questioning, waiting for an explanation about her apparent friend Wigglewog.
Sir Talavar shares his tale of how Bavlorna captured him and how Wigglewog had helped him escape and was killed in the balloon crash.
The goblin seemed to accept his story. Often looking to Chapley for confirmation, but apart from him, she was now seemingly more cautious of your group.
Turning to Resmae and Aros, she stepped up to examine Aros's infliction. She grabs Aros's cheeks in her hand and moves her face left and right, up and down, inspecting where once, her mouth had been."Oh, those pesky smappers can really make such a mess. I am afraid Jingle Jangle cannot help you with your problem. But she might know of someone who can?"
Turning to Sir Talavar, she says "Let's find a key for this cage!" and she starts rummaging through keys strewn about the ground. Muttering to herself and throwing keys over her shoulder, and recklessly throwing keys about the place.
Bugs puts his hand on Aros' shoulder. "Hang in there, Aros. It seems we have another lead to follow. But we will keep following them. We'll get this fixed."
With that said he stood back and watched Jingle Jangle search. "Ah, Is there anything we can do to assist?"

Balliol encourages Chapley to knock...
Knock
Knock
Knock

Wildred performs the Forehead slap...(that was customeraly Bugs reaction But must have inadvertently rubbed off on Wildred)
Bugs performs the forehead slap.
It wasn't badly done. It was friendly. It was just very . . . Chapley.
“M’lady,” whispers Sir Talavar to Halei, “tell her that Wigglewog sent us.”
Resmae looks to both Bugs and Wildred and shakes her head, she thought Chapley did a great job! She then gives him a big smile and returns the thumbs up.
