"What? You can't help her?" Resmae looks as if she is about to cry. She is definitely having difficulties handling all the emotions that come with being a child here in the fey, and this news is almost more than she can handle. "But where is this lead? How far do we have to travel? What if Aros can't make it? She is having difficulty walking already!!" She is trying her best to not break down in tears as she watches the frustrating goblin make a mess of her keys.
Halei is thankful the goblin accepted the explanation, and is a bit sorry she seems to have lost a friend. She also feels a bit sorry for returning her kindness in welcoming them into her home with an interrogation of sorts.
"Sorry for all the questions, friend! We've just come a very long way, but thank you for giving us the time of day, we really appreciate your help."
The goblin continues her flurry of activity, searching through the keys all about her place. She looks closely at each one before discarding it and moving on to the next one. A light globe illuminates above her head,"Oh!" she exclaims and rushes over to a set of small shelves on a desk in her sleeping corner. She opens one of them and yanks out a beautiful silver key.
"Here, try this one." She tosses the key to Halei, "Better you should have it than those long-eared brigands. First, they stole Jingle Jangle's shrooms. Next, they'll want Jingle Jangle's keys. Someone ought to give them a good shaking down, so they know what it feels like!"
The goblin turns to Wildred, answering his earlier question, "Jingle Jangle knows each key intimately, and the keys are Jingle Jangles friends."
The goblin then turns her attention to Resmae. "It will be alright, Deary! Lorna helped Jingle Jangle, and I am sure she will help your friend Aros too."
Scooping up a pile of wooden bowls, she starts spooning the delicious-smelling stew into them and handing it out to y'all.
Chapley, the little goblin, pushes a bowl of food toward you first. "Jingle Jangle's not met a half-orc that doesn't love shroom stew", grinning at you with a knowing smile.
Wildred takes the key he was given out of his pocket...
"By long eared brigands I presume you mean the bandits we crossed paths with briefly!.....they stole balliols feather!. Well in a certain term of the word stole..they could have atleast given it back! My dear jingle jangle is there anything you could tell me about this key?like what it opens?"
Wildred holds the key out in the palm of his hands towards Jingle Jangle.
Balliol takes a bowl of shroom stew when it is offered (Assuming she gets to all of us eventually) and thanks their host.
He lets the others ask their questions first and eats. But when things are dealt with he asks, "Jingle Jangle, where might we find this Lorna so that we might aid our friend Aros?"
Assuming that at some point she gets the cage open Bugs will also ask, "Is there anything we can do for you in exchange for your help? We would not have been able to open the cage without you, nor would we have known where to take Aros. You have been very kind."
Chapley, takes the bowl with a quizzical expression, looking deep within himself for the answer to a question. Finally he says, "I suppose I don't rightly know whether I've met a half-orc who doesn't like shroom stew either. None of the half-orcs I know have ever commented on their stance on the dish."
He sits there for a while, continuing to puzzle it out with the untouched bowl of stew sitting in his hands. Evidently giving up on the conundrum, he eventually shrugs his shoulders and digs in. "Oh, that IS good! What's in it?"
Resmae gratefully accepts the bowl of soup from the goblin and has a bit of hope as they mention Lorna. She does grab her ears and doesn't know if the goblin is worried about her and Bugs as well? She keeps quiet as she starts to enjoy her soup. But when Chapley pipes up about what is it... she giggles, "There's mushrooms in Shroom Stew, silly!"
"Yeah, no-yeah," Chapley nods his head along to Resmae's words, twirling a finger by his ear. "Even as I was saying it the pieces clicked into place."
He shovels another spoonful into his mouth, chews, swallows, and then looks up at Jingle Jangle. "I'm sorry our manners! Here you are complaining about brigands stealing your keys and your mushrooms, and here we are casually taking you for both. Pray tell, is there anything we can be doing for you in return?"
"C'mon, M'Lady. Try the key, please?" calls our Sir Talavar excitedly. He is practically out the door already.
You try the key in the little lock. Low and behold. The lock pops open, and before you can even pull it out, Sir Talavar is out. He hovers up to your neck and wraps his tiny arms around you for a grateful hug, then flies up a little more to stretch out his limbs as far as he can. He can barely contain himself. "Thank you, M'Lady!" he says as he bows toward you. "Thank you too, Miss!" he addresses the goblin. "And to all of you, who I call my friends." Sir Talavar flaps and flies around for a while before accepting a bowl of stew and settling on a ledge to eat. "Mmm! This is so good!" he says with his mouthful. For a time, obviously forgetting his nobility and manners in the moment.
After serving Chapley, the busy goblin makes her way around the adventurers serving each of you as she goes.
Balliol, The goblin, hands you a bowl of shroom stew. It is delicious.
"Help yourself to more if you like," she says, smiling. She continues by answering your question about the whereabouts of Lorna. "She lives at Downfall. The Bullywug village." she continues. "Beware those bandits. Jingle Jangle was digging for shrooms in the swamp nearby Downfall when a bunch of harengons leapt out from behind the reeds and shrubbery. They took Jingle Jangle's shrooms, threw Jingle Jangle down in the mud, and whacked Jingle Jangle with their wooden clubs. But if you have something to offer, Jingle Jangle. Avenge their mischief and make them pay for what they did to Jingle Jangle. That is all she would ask!. You’ll find the skallywags at Brigands’ Tollway, a series of old wooden catwalks that circle a giant tree stump. The brigands camp atop the stump because it gives them the advantage of high ground. Agdon Longscarf is the leader of the harengon brigands. He wears a bright blue scarf and moves as fast as lightning.”
Sir Talavar speaks up "Bavlorna Blightstraw lives in a spooky cottage on stilts at the heart of Downfall, a bullywug settlement. The bullywugs of Downfall are quite courteous and welcoming, provided one does not offend them."
Wildred, you mention your encounter with the brigands and show the goblin your key. "Oh!" she listens intently to your tale of the encounter. She snatches the key from you and reaches into her pocket, pulling a thick glass monocle and peers closely at the key given to you by Madryk. "This is a bronze key. Nothing too special about it, other than it will open a padlock. Jingle Jangle suspects a bronze one." she pauses briefly and looks around the room. "What do you want for it?" she looks around some more "Jingle Jangle has potions. Would you like to trade one?" she asks, and she runs over and grabs four potions from a cupboard and presents them to you. "Take your pick."
If you choose to trade the bronze key given to you by Madryk. Roll 1d4 and read the spoiler for the potion the goblin provides you in return.
Potion of Animal Friendship

Sammy perks up as the goblin offers him a bowl of shroom stew. He wags his tail, and with what seems like a breath, the stew is slurped up and gone. The goblin chuckles to herself and spoons him another.
Resmae, You find yourself wearing some of Sammy's meal, and you too are offered stew. And again, you find it delicious. Imparting your wisdom on Chapley as you sit together enjoying the meal.
Chapley, the little goblin, spoons herself up some of the stew, and she sits beside you on the other side than Resmae. She seems most comfortable talking with you and asks, "What happened to your clothing? Why is it in tatters?" curiously, " That piece of a banner that you carry. What is it? It looks to Jingle Jangle like the pennant carried by the members of the Valour's Call".
For Chapley's eyes only.
Upon the mention of Valour's Call, you recall a group of folk. Brave folk you think of as friends. But it is hazy, and you struggle to remember more.
You all settle in. Talking and eating with each other and the goblin. Enjoying her shroom stew is nourishing and restorative. After the meal, she offers up some of her stash of fermented shroom juice and rolled beedis. Soon time no longer matters, and you find yourselves talking into the night before being comfortably asleep on her floor.
Chapley uncrosses and recrosses his legs and says to Jingle Jangle, "Oh these clothes? Well I've been roughing it out in this wilderness for a while, and also, they never make the arms large enough. The moment I start swing this axe, the seams start to go." He pauses for a moment, trying to recall who 'they' were. Then he hears Jingle Jangle bring up the banner.
"Oh, this? It's from, ahh... Valour's Call, you say? That sounds as right as anything else. Good people, them. I think."
When the time for sleep approaches, Chapley sprawls out on his back, long limbs taking up more space than anyone else, and softly snores.
Balliol enjoys the stew and enjoys the rest. This had been easily the most peaceful time they had yet spent in the Fey Wild. In the morning he spoke with Sir. Talavar. "Now that you are free Sir. Talaver, what will you do? Go back and report on what you found? I assume we will be going to Downfall. We need to reach Lorna. For Aros' sake. But that would mean we are also near one of these hags you have mentioned. Do you know anything about Downfall besides what Jingle Jangle said? Or Bullywogs for that matter. Is there anything we need to be careful about to not offend a Bullywog? You knew at least one fairly well. That is one more than I have ever known. And the Hag. I'm not sure we are up to taking on a Hag, but if we were, do you have any suggestions or other information about her?"
Assuming the group will be getting ready to go at some point he will thank Jingle Jangle. "Thank you again for your help and the wonderful meal. You have a very nice home. Our first move will be to try and help Aros, but if we can get to Brigand's Tollway we will see if we can avenge your hurt. They also threatened us. Take care Jingle Jangle and be well."
Wildred says to Jingle Jangle "I must admit I am tempted to trade you the key but I feel madryk gave me it for some other purpose!..however once I have found out what it unlocks I would be happy to give it to you as a gift no charge"
He thanks Jingle Jangle for the stew and the information on the key.
Halei sits to eat her stew and just listens to Balliol speak and waits for the answers. She accepts the juice and beedis and just listens to the other's conversation before everyone settles down.
You all wake in the morning (having had a nice long rest) feeling refreshed and are surprised to find that the prior evening's hefty socialising has sorted a lot out in your minds.
Please see the campaign page for the adventuring party's objectives.
Once everyone wakes, Halei ponders and asks, "What do you think we should pursue first? I think finding Lorna might be most important. I have a feeling searching for the coven would end in a fight, and having Aros well again would help us a lot. Not to mention, I'm sure she is in agony at the moment, I couldn't imagine going so long without being able to speak to anyone. It sounds very lonely."
Halei also asks Sir Talavar if he is feeling better after being freed from his cage.
After the rest it was time to get ready for the next phase of their adventure. Balliol repeats his questions for Sir. Talavar. (Previous post) He responds to Halei's question with agreement. "I think we have to seek out this Lorna first. We don't know exactly where to go otherwise anyway, but Aros needs some help. In my mind, that has to take precedence."
Resmae thoroughly enjoyed the evening with Jingle Jangle, at least as much as she could while the constant worry of Aros was in the back of her mind. As Sammy graciously shared his meal with her, she just shakes her head and moves on.
The next morning, she hops up and vehemently agrees, "We MUST go see Lorna first! Come, come let us go!!"
Wildred, Jingle Jangle grants you the salt you requested. "Take all that you need."
You head off.
The Goblin thanks you for your company, leading you all out of her abode and up to the top of the hill where you entered her cave. "Jingle Jangle has a busy day ahead," she says, "Downfall is that-a-way," pointing north, north-west. "Oh, find the pincer-clawed scarecrow named Clapperclaw. He hangs around Downfall and is the best guide in Hither," she calls to you before skipping off into the woods on the hill.
Resmae, you recall Sir Talavar mentioning to you earlier when you described your vision in the stream, "Clapperclaw, the scarecrow! He is a friend worth knowing."
Balliol, Sir Talavar responds to your questions.
"My friend, I have shared with you all that I know. Now I must return to Titania and report to my Summer Queen the news that Zybilna has been overthrown by the Hourglass Coven. I cannot thank you enough for releasing me from Bavlorna's prison." Sir Talaver undoes his belt, bends down on one knee, and holds his little sword toward you all in his hands. "All I can offer is my sword." He bids you all a fond farewell, "Your valour will not be forgotten!" and with that, he flies off.
Please let me know if and who accepts Sir Talavar's sword.
A recap of some pertinent information shared by Sir Talavar includes... "Bavlorna Blightstraw is one of three sisters who together make up the Hourglass Coven. They are a crafty trio of hags who loath one another. But, together, they are formidable foes. Bavlorna can conjure minions that look like tiny versions of herself. She lives in a spooky cottage on stilts at the heart of Downfall, a bullywug settlement here in Hither. The bullywugs of Downfall are quite courteous and welcoming, provided one does not offend them."
You all agree your first objective is to head to Downfall to find this Lorna that Jingle Jangle spoke of. Aros is your priority. She is weak and in a bad way. Her head down, she barely even acknowledges the group's choice to help her. Time is of the essence.
You feel the gratitude of awakened willows dancing in the breeze all around you as you make your way down Telemy Hill.
Chapley, one of the trees, bends down and hands you an iron key dangling on a string of leather. "A gift from Jingle Jangle. Hold onto it. It may be useful."
"What? You can't help her?" Resmae looks as if she is about to cry. She is definitely having difficulties handling all the emotions that come with being a child here in the fey, and this news is almost more than she can handle. "But where is this lead?
