Randy's magic allows the party to move swiftly through the streets, avoiding questions from both the citizens running about, and the squads of watch responding to the various emergencies.
The street you are following arrives at a T, the route forward towards the distant glow not obvious to Ulmwin's low altitude.

Dornikal gives a deep sniff... buttery... savory and meaty... onion, with a hint of smoke? He subtly wipes some chicken pot pie crumbs from his upper lip.

Dornikal's stomach rumbles at the reminder of an excellent pie but forces himself back to the here and now. Demons first, then pie. Or maybe pies, Dumathoin be praised!
He looks up at the guide gnome then to his ground companions with a shrug.
Randy notes the direction the breeze is blowing, and the shift and swirl of the smoke rising into the night, and deduces that while it looks to be more to the left, that the origin is actually to the right.
Coljin notes some rats fleeing whatever is ahead, and gives some squeaks at them.

The rats pay him no mind (perhaps they couldn't see him in the shadows) and continue to flee... but they are fleeing in a direction that confirms Randy's conclusions.
Continuing on, you find a turn to get you heading back in the right direction, slipping past a couple of half dressed townsfolk and toward the orange glow. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the trio of canine creatures that are standing amid the flames, one having just exhaled fire to lick up the side of a structure. Their imperviousness to flame seems to suggest they are the hellhounds you surmised. You see six figures backlit by the flames, facing off towards the hellhounds, weapons drawn. Four wear the uniforms of the town watch, two with shield and swords drawn, the other two with crossbows trained on the beasts, all four with their less lethal cudgels hanging at their waists. One of those with a sword is a red-brown tiefling with short horns, the other swordsman an older human. A young human man holds a crossbow, alongside a female gnome. The fifth seems to be a citizen drawn out of their rest, a half dressed dwarf with a wooden mallet in one hand, and some kind of large chisel in the other. The most striking figure is the last, as they are in full plate, with hands up and ready, but no weapon drawn. It's impossible to tell race, but they are roughly of a human or elven build.

Both arrows impact, sizzling the fur as the acid eats in, buckling the front legs of the creature as it snarls, looking around for the source of the arrows.
The older swordsman gives a start, also glance back into the dark shadows that hide your party before gripping his shield and turning to face them.

Once Ulmwin sees Randy lead the attack, he would quickly want to join in. Much less worried about keeping hidden, and far more on blasting the hellhound from his height advantage.
Normal firebolts: Attack: 18 Damage: 7 Attack: 16 Damage: 12
((Dornikal could draw level with the 6 with a dash, not enough to reach the hellhounds.))
The gauntlets of the person in plate look well reinforced, Dornikal's dwarven eye would likely indicate they are meant for clobbering. As the dwarf hurries forward, he hears a voice echoing from within telling the guards that they will hold the front line. As they finish speaking, a pair of crackling blasts arc overhead courtesy of Ulmwin, slamming into the lead hellhound, and dropping it to the ground. The pair flanking it snarl and look ready to pounce.
Coljin calls out to his goddess, and a spectral mace manifests, swinging down on one of the two remaining hellhounds.
The mace whallops them pretty good, and the well armored figure takes that an indication of who to attack as they dart forward to punch at the hell hound. Each time they swing, their gauntlet seemingly moves in two parts, a mechanism around the wrist following through with the fist just a moment later. As this secondary impact strikes, a deep "thump" is emitted, rattling loose pebbles ahead of them and raising settled dust just a little as it causes the flame and smoke to waver. Unfortunately, the hellhound darts and ducks, the thumping punches landing in air.
The pair of crossbowmen both loose, the hell hound was too busy dealing with the armored figure to evade the bolts, both of them punching into the tough hide. The two swordsmen guards hold position, shifting back only slightly behind Dornikal as they hold blades at the ready. The half dressed dwarf sputters something about bloody forking hellhounds in his city in dwarvish, but doesn't rush to attack.
The hellhounds, their dignity slighted, snap and bite at the armored fellow, one of them managing to clamp hold, hot flaming breath washing over them as their arm is savaged briefly before they wrench free, gouges in the metal.

Ulmwin takes a glance about from his birds eye perspective before he would loose another set of firebolts upon the enemy that seem surprisingly effective for fire-aligned beings. Can he see where the beasts are coming from? A sign of any portals? Innocents that need help?
One of Randy's arrows misses wide, he over corrects on the next and sends it skittering off the armored figure. Ulmwin's blasts send up embers, but miss his target. No cries for help sound from the burning building, hopefully everyone inside was in the crowd that you slipped past.
"Aye, Mountain Father preserve us.", the dwarf agrees.

If that hound is still up Dornikal swings the sword down on its next for the second blow. Otherwise he moves to the second hound and chops at it, though with not nearly the power of the first swing.
