Dornikal has a momentary thought about how a regions proportional gem distribution would be more interesting to him than folks who don't worship Dumathoin, before Coljin drives the point home with lead and platinum.

Ulmwin is a bit surprised by the sudden ask, but seems more than agreeable once he gets the gist of it.
"So how you'd want to do it? Can it carry both of us..? If so I'd probably just best join you and grab if things go south. If not... Fly above, and I'll be under you?" he says, perhaps a bit doubtful... He's certainly shown himself to be acrobatic, but he's not COMPLETELY confident he'd manage to pull that one off. Still, if they fly above the water, things should be fine even if he does take a tumble.
"Uh... We can try with both but it may be tight? Maybe ye below and aye can just start with hovering about at first then ye tell meh where to go and aye'll get there best aye can?"
He'll follow Ulmwin's direction, having never really seriously considered what flying entailed before this very moment.
He mounts the onyx fly and gets a good hover going before yelling over the moderately loud buzzing,
"Okay, aye think we can try. To the water ye said?"
He urges the fly on...At a crawl. He still looks strained as they go.
"This thing isn't really shaped for meh legs. Aye might need a rope or something."
The fly starts walking towards the oasis, and doesn't seem be well suited for flying at a slow speed, best he can manage are a series of short hopping flights where it lands in between.
As Dornikal thumps it to a bit greater effort as he struggles to get his feel for it, the fly takes off straight up into the sky, buzzing and looping as it soars, seeming almost exuberant to finally be able to fly.
Dornikal, make an Athletics or Acrobatics check for me please?
Ulmwin seems a bit worried, wondering if maybe they should have gotten a "feather fall" spell ready before this... None the less, he's making sure to stay a fair bit under him so he can try and catch him should things go south.
...Still, it seems like he has things very well under control? Despite all the yelling panic, that is.
Dornikal clings on for dear life to the bristly hairs on the back of the fly, and has the fleeting thought that he might be both the first dwarf to ride fly-back, and perhaps the first to die from riding fly-back, but his mount levels out and steadies under him, giving him a stunning view of the oasis far, far, far below him, and the expanse of desert stretching in either direction. From this vantage, he can even make out the interrupted ribbon of the Great Road, and see some of what the geologic features must have been before the Sundering.

The fly circles in a wide spiral down, rather than just plunging back to the ground, and Dornikal makes it back to the sweet, sweet ground without loosing his seat. It takes a moment once they are still for him to convince his hands that they can stop clenching.

The fly runs some legs over its legs and extends its mouthparts to envelop Dornikal's shoulder, giving him a massage before it dislodges with a wet sucking sound.
It moves over to the ranger and waits patiently for Randy to climb aboard.

Randy quietly chuckles, climbs aboard and gets a good grip. He then directs the fly upward at a moderate pace at a 30 degree incline, spiraling out to circle the oasis at a distance of about 100 yards out. He directs the fly to level out at about 1000 ft. and continues to circle while getting a good look around.
Randy has trouble getting his intent across to the mount and it zips up into the sky exuberantly. The vertical component makes it unlike any ride he's taken before.

Oh, and at some point he like to try out that obsidian fly! Maybe together when Ulmwin does his flying.
"That is a big fly. Aye'll take it on a spin then ye can take a turn?"
He asks whoever is interested in zooming around on the fly.
"Ulmwin, can ye catch meh if I fall?"

Is that fly... amused?

((Minuscule style fly laughing!))
After taking a moment to enjoy the view Dornikal directs the fly back down towards the oasis, at a much slower pace.
"Easy now, easy. Easy. No need to rush. Good fly. Good."
He gives Ulmwin a nod, unwilling to release his white knuckle grip for a second.

"Okay. Who wants to try next?"
He asks with a forced smile and tries to work feeling back into his fingers subtly.
Randy looks at the fly for a moment then steps forward. "I'll give it a try if your worthy steed is agreeable."
