Antonius blinks at Darwin. 'Why?' he asks completely bemused. 'Brennan's not here and they're working on for my business.' he gestures around the room. The only Dwarf in the room has a full head of hair.
"Has anyone seen Brennan today??" Ida yells towards the workers to get their attention. She's annoyed with Antonius and his attitude and ready to tear a wall out to find abald dwarf hiding.
One Halfling looks up from his work and quirks an eyebrow, 'Aye, he came in to drop of plans and instructions for our project. He went towards his apartment out back, but I haven't seen any movement back there.'
Ida turns quickly to the group, her eyes focusing on "out back" as she begins moving towards the Apartment. She motions for Agnarr to swing wide to cut off a possible escape and for Hamish to go with him. She keeps Antonius behind her and Darwin close, her hand gripping her battle-axe and ready to swing. They make it to within about 10 ft of the apartment and she stops to listen.
As you exit the large warehouse style doors into the rear of the property you find yourselves in a large open grassy area with numerous targets, dummies and other such equipment for the testing of creations.
At the far end of the property, which is fenced in by a tall 15 foot tall fence on all sides, there is a decently sized single story abode, that would not be offended to be called a cottage. In fact it would look significantly more at home nestled in the foothills of a mountain or deep in a forest.
Moss and vines of ivy sprawl it's exterior, carefully pruned away from the windows.
Ida also notices a gate, large enough for one man to walk through, set into the fence next to the cottage.
She doesn't hear any sounds coming from the house.
Darwin telepathically asks Caper to carefully fly above the fence and scout out the house, just from the outside.
The faerie dragon excitedly does as bidden, his invisible form flying around the house looking for signs of activity. Not going inside but looking through the windows where possible.
"I have asked Caper to do a fly by, checking around the house for signs of activity", he tells the others.
Hamish draws his wand once more and starts to gather the energy of a spell into his other hand. He stays behind Ida but tries to keep a clear view of the door in case he needs to fire past her. He also thinks about Antonius's strange reaction to the whole situation. Was he still in shock or was there something else going on?
Darwin steps to the side of the door, next to Ida, waiting for her to make the first move into the house. Caper returns from scouting and lands on his shoulder.
"All quiet and no movement", Darwin whispers to the others. "Be careful Ida", he adds.
Ida walks into a space that is approximately 30x30 and is sparsely decorated as a welcoming atrium with lounging seats.
It takes a moment for Ida to realize but this one space occupies all of the space the outer walls of the building suggest it contains.
In the dim space, lit only by the light breaking through the door that Ida just entered by and by the small amount of light that fights its way through thick curtains that cover the windows, Ida is unable to see any doors or stairs.
Ida touches her Battle-axe, sharing some of her will with it. The battle-axe begins to glow producing a bright light so they can better see. She hasn't heard anything and has a gut feeling that something bad has happened in this space. She shakes her head and tries to see everything the room is telling her. She still can't focus well, so she motions for Darwin and Hamish to join her. "What can you see?"
Darwin whispers some words of magic and produces a spectral hand, which he uses to open the curtains around the room. He then takes a good look around, wondering if there was an illusion at play here, something he knew a lot about himself.
Light pours and spreads around the room, illuminating the furniture and decor.
Ida and Darwin still can't see much in the way of doors but that is likely because they are looking for doors or stairs in a traditional sense.
Hamish, however, apparently thinks a bit unorthodox and almost immediately spots a hatch in the floor. It's not hidden or disguised, but if one stood in the doorway, as Ida had been, it is easy to understand it being missed in the dim room, as it is the same color as the rest of the floor.
It is a ten by five large hatch with a heavy metal ring handle.
Darwin nudges Antonius and points to the workers.
”Well, can you send them away?”, he says getting more and more frustrated by the Elf’s inaction.
Antonius blinks at Darwin. 'Why?' he asks completely bemused. 'Brennan's not here and they're working on for my business.' he gestures around the room. The only Dwarf in the room has a full head of hair.

The house is still and quiet.
Ida moves towards the front door, and tries it to see if it's unlocked.

He also thinks about Antonius's strange reaction to the whole situation. Was he still in shock or was there something else going on?
((Insight 21))
The door opens slowly, swinging freely inwards on it's hinges.
You get the impression that Antonius is just mentally all kinds of messed up at the moment. He doesn't really understand what's going on or why.
Darwin steps to the side of the door, next to Ida, waiting for her to make the first move into the house. Caper returns from scouting and lands on his shoulder.
"All quiet and no movement", Darwin whispers to the others. "Be careful Ida", he adds.
Ida walks in, scanning the room carefully. After 5 steps, she stops to better understand, her mind isn't processing things as normal.

Hamish moves to the hatch silently, pointing to it as he does so. He inspects it to see if there is a lock or trap to be concerned about.
((Stealth 10, Perception 19))
The hatch opens easily. There is a lock but it isn't activated. It opens to reveal a stairwell proceeding down into the darkness.
There is no light visible.
