Ida, you and Aldheim have pulled out a large fishing trap, a cage of sturdy wood that would be lowered into the water usually. It's quite cumbersome, both heavy and unwieldly. It is moveable but climbing a ladder while carrying it would be an impressive feat.
When you return to the others, they fill you in on what you missed while searching for the trap.
Hamish glances between Darwin and Rowan as they work at the windows and Ida as she finds a suitable trap. He's torn between who to go help, but when he sees the shadow at the window, he inadvertently lets out a raspy yelp. Finally, he moves over to help Ida carry the cage over, glancing around for something that could be a useful ladder.
You see a rope ladder dropped in a pile to one side, the kind that probably came off the side of a ship with hooks on one end. There's a possibility it may possible to throw the ladder up and onto the window frame.
"Alright, we have a trap that will hopefully work. Really depends on these things size and flexibility. What have you discovered? Are the windows unlocked?" Ida asks she tries to figure out how to even get up and maneuver at that height.
Darwin looks to Ida. "They said these things were cat like, which means they are pretty flexible and could be pretty much any size", he says taking a look at the trap and nodding his approval.
"I was hoping we could get eyes in the warehouse from a window, or even have Rowan sneak in, but if they are that high up I think just taking a look for now would give us more idea of what to expect", he says looking a bit unsure. He was still concerned by the Strangers warning about using magic on these things.
He looks a little sheepishly at Ida, "Sorry for storming off, that Ardheim really got my back up". He spots Hamish looking at something and quickly changes the subject, "What you got there Hamish?".
Hamish glances back at Darwin and points to the rope ladder he noticed. "That might help if we can get it up there? I can try to look in if we can get this up there. I was also pretty good at getting away from the watch, so I could try poking my head in to see and running if things go south."
Darwin wanders over and grabs the rope ladder. “Perfect”, he says moving back to stand under the window.
Once more he reaches inside himself to the well of power the Stranger spoke of. He concentrates on drawing some power from the well and forming it into his hand, the projects it to the rope ladder. The spectral hand once again appears, lifting the ladder up to the window.
Darwin looks to Hamish. "You sure you are ok to take a peek?", he asks a little concerned. "We just need a little more to go on, so no need to do anything risky".
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hamish nods. "I should be fine to glance, maybe even poke my head in." Hamish makes his way to the ladder and climbs it slowly, but confidently when it holds fast. He gets to the window and looks in, trying to peer through the grimy glass.
You glass clearly hasn't been cleaned in a very long time and you can't see much of anything through it. As you try to peer, a large pair of yellow feline eyes suddenly appear in front of you, startling you.
I found a replacement 4th player, a Dwarf blacksmith fighter who was arrested as the result of a bar fight (that may or may not be the one Darwin started). We're going to retcon it so that Rowan was never here and the Dwarf always was instead.
Ida is nervous about Hamish on the ladder, she didn't want anything breaking through the glass and knocking Hamish off and then being out of the warehouse and on the loose.
"See anything?" Ida yells up to Hamish.
OOC: Apologies guys, I didn't realize we were still playing in the interim of waiting for the new player.
I have reworked the cities map in a slightly more well-thought-out manner. I'm very much hoping that we can all work together to flesh out the city and its surroundings throughout the game.
I also hope you read the description provided with the map as it contains information that all the characters besides Darwin would be aware of.
If any of the characters have a particular faith, please send me a message and tell me about the faith so I can catalog it in a religions document I'm creating. So far the only established religion in this world is The Sacred Child, which revolves around the belief of a Creator who inhabited the body of a child and martyred himself to defeat and banish a Fiendish army.
I've also made a note in my notes of the Tavern where Darwin started a brawl in his level zero named, colorfully, 'The Duke's Ballbag'. I'm trying to come up with ways to connect everyone's characters so it's also where Toryn got arrested, having been involved in that brawl and getting a bit too out of hand in the process.
On that note, Hamish, you may find Ida vaguely familiar as, a few years ago, she witnessed Lucy steal some fruit for the pair of you to eat and proceeded to buy more food and bring it to the pair of you in the alley you ate in, then stand guard until you finished your meal. I doubt you remember her exactly, but she's certainly familiar.
Toryn, I imagine you as a Blacksmith, have probably done business with Ida in the past at some point. Also, Toryn, I'd like for you to come up with a name for your business and think about whether it serves as both a Smith as well as a retailer.
Aye, Toryn has sold many a wares from his shop "Blackstone's Black Stoneware'. He vaguely remembers Ida as she watched him fervently work to create her a personalized coat of arms many moons ago.
As for the brawl, Toryn observed a brawl break out and he jumped in for fun. He paid no attention to loyalties, but instead beat upon all within grabbing distance. He may have gotten away with it, but as the guards attempted to dispel the mob he informed the closest guard that his mother was a whore and attempts to arrest Toryn would result in the sharing of his mother's crabs from Toryn's beard. This belligerence resulted in the arrest.
(OOC: Of course Darwin will never admit to starting the brawl, as he never threw so much as a single punch. He did get thrown into a stout Dwarf at one point, who then got bottled in the head. That might have been Toryn, in which case we did come face to face at one point? :-)
Also, do we need a private chat for OOC discussions of this sort?)

Casts Mage Hand
The spectral hand manages to hook the ladder onto the window ledge, a couple of sharp tugs reveals that it is fairly secure.

Toryn watches Hamish and waits for a report. "come on then! What do ye see! You're takin more time than me Ma's stew"
Darwin shuffles about nervously looking up towards Hamish, muttering under his breath, "Don't fall, don't fall, don't fall".
He shouts up, "You're doing great!", before continuing the muttering.
(OOC: Welcome Navy, glad to have you with us)
Thank you. I'm Ray if you're good at names. I'm not. But figured I'd introduce myself anyway lol
