Hamish mutters from the corner of his mouth, "It's okay everyone. I've got this."
He moves quickly, summoning up the crushing strength of tight alleyways and looming buildings. As he lifts his hand, pantomiming grabbing something, a hand of muck and mud bursts from the floor beneath the winged kobold and tries to grab the creature where it stands.
The Kobold sorcerer yelps in surprise as the very ground betrays him. He vainly tries to push and fight against the strength of the hand but is unable.
'Very good little one.' Sharru-Ukin says with gleeful malice. 'Kill the vile creature.' he commands.
The Kobold's protests become more panicked as the hand begins to contract. A gruesome scene plays out before the party where even those who look away hear his protests fail followed by the sound of cracking and crunching.
'A creature after my own heart.' the Dragon coos, clearly impressed by the nature of the fatality. 'You certainly are worthy of being my High Sorcerer, and I'm sure at least one of you is equal to the task of being my Champion.'
"Happy that we could impress you slightly. What could we expect if we were able to offer our service? It's obvious you don't need protection with your gifts."
Sharru-Ukin smiles, 'The Kobold's worshipped me, waited upon me, and kept nuisances away. You all seem capable of much more. I seek great magical power and you all seem well-suited to the road. I would ask that you go forth in my name, and when you find anything of magical import, you bring it back to me so that we may grow my horde.'
Hamish listens to Ida's words and sees the prudence in not simply attacking such a powerful creature. He bows low and says, "We would be happy to seek power for you and increase your riches." The party notices, though, that Hamish has his fingers crossed as he bows low and swings his hand behind his back in an affectation of gentility.

Darwin steels his nerve and steps forward closer to Sharru-Ukin, "Before any agreement is made, I would see what it is I will be furthering and understand exactly what the return is on my allegiance".
As he comes within 10 feet of Sharru-Ukin, he extends out a portion of the presence of his patron, the Stranger, attempting to charm the dragon.
He continues, regardless of success or failure.
"I would see this horde, and perhaps Sharru-Ukin would show he is benevolent and generous as well as powerful by allowing us to receive a boon for our allegiance?".

Fey Presence:
Starting at 1st level, your patron bestows upon you the ability to project the beguiling and fearsome presence of the fey. As an action, you can cause each creature in a 10-foot cube originating from you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. The creatures that fail their saving throws are all charmed or frightened by you (your choice) until the end of your next turn.
Sharru-Ukin nods deeply and turns to lead you all to the rear of the space.
He passes back through the bulkhead, expecting to be followed.
The space on the other side is very dim, lit only by a few shards of light that filter through the planks overhead. Where the shafts of light falls, the space glitters.
Across the floor there is gold coinage from numerous kingdoms scattered and a few other valuable looking things. Against one bulkhead there is what can only be described as an altar, upon which sit a number of items that have been embued with a magical well of their own.
One of the items is an amulet, without a chain, held in the jaws of a cleaned Kobold skull.
Darwin looks to each of his companions and then to the imposing form of Sharru-Ukin. They were so close to their goal, and yet seemingly so far away. If only they could take the amulet right here, right now. But in order to do that they would need to work together.
He looks to Ida, wishing he could send thoughts to her in the same way he did to Caper.
"Why not try?", comes Caper's voice in his mind. He must have unconsciously sent the thought to the Faerie Dragon as he thought about him.
What did he have to lose?
He pushes his thoughts out to Ida, "We need to take the amulet now whilst we have the chance. We need to distract Sharru-Ukin", he says to her without speaking, and somehow gets the feeling it may have worked. He looks at Ida's reaction, and his eyes go a little wide.
He turns to Hamish, and tries with him. "We need to take the amulet now, Ida and I can distract Sharru-Ukin, can you create an illusion of the amulet, and then steal the real one?", he sends.
Was it in his mind, or had Hamish heard him too?
He turns to Aoi, the newest member of the party, either to fill him in on the plan, or to make more of a fool of himself. "We are going to take the amulet, Ida and I will distract Sharru-Ukin, help Hamish", he sends.
Lastly, just to complete this insanity, he warns Agnarr things are about to go down, "Be wary, we are going to steal the amulet".
He looks at his companions again, locking his gaze to theirs, wondering if they were in on the plan, or whether he had deluded himself.
Time to find out.
He nods at Ida to indicate the distraction should start now, and makes himself ready to back her up.
"This is quite a fine horde. We look forward to helping you achieve your goals and adding many things to it. Which brings me to my next question- oh mighty Sharru-Ukin, what is it that you seek in a champion?" Her voice becomes louder and more commanding as she says his name and she forces the power she has through her body to her fingertips. She's suddenly sprouted luminous incorporeal wings and her eyes are glowing. She jumps up into the air flying in the opposite direction from the amulet keeping her eyes locked on Sharru-Ukin.
Hamish suddenly hears Darwin in his head, but keeps his composure. At this point, new tricks were almost expected. He blinked once to Darwin and waited for the moment. As Ida suddenly glowed and Darwin accompanied her spectacle, Hamish made his move. He forced the magic out in a more controlled fashion than he ever had and created a double of the amulet just as he snatched the real amulet and hid it in his shirt.
((Spending a sorcery point to cast minor illusion as a subtle spell, and a Sleight of Hand of 23))
"It seems we have both shown what we have to offer. All that remains is for us to go forth and spread the word", Darwin says as he turns to leave, expecting the others to follow him, carrying on the tune as he goes like some sort of pied piper.
He just hoped Hamish had done his bit, because if he had, it was smooth.
Ida comes back to her feet but jumps highly using the wings to lift her to Darwin's tune, like a gravity defying dance. She smiles at his comment and replies "Yes, and I've been working with each in this group to help develop their strengths. With you, we will become even stronger and your champion will be unstoppable." She follows Darwin out, still to the music and still "dancing."
Hamish bows, bringing his fist to his chest in a salute, but also securing the amulet from slipping or making any noise, and wordlessly follows Ida from the ship, counting down the time on the spell in his mind.

Sharru-Ukin nods, 'And the rest of you agree?'

One of the items is an amulet, without a chain, held in the jaws of a cleaned Kobold skull.
Darwin bows to Sharru-Ukin, "A fine horde".
He then turns to look at Agnarr, indicating the horde with his jaw and raising his eyebrows as if to ask any of this what you are looking for?
Agnarr nods toward the amulet in response.
Darwin looks to each of his companions and then to the imposing form of Sharru-Ukin. They were so close to their goal, and yet seemingly so far away. If only they could take the amulet right here, right now. But in order to do that they would need to work together.

radiant soul
Darwin watches Ida transform, dumbstruck for a moment before it dawns on him that he was meant to help with the distraction.
Pulling out his pan pipes he wanders behind Ida, also standing away from the amulet, and starts to play some dramatic music to accompany her visuals.

The Dragon eyes the display of Ida and seems quite enraptured.
Hamish is able to snatch the amulet without any hitches.
'My child, I suspect you might be someone's champion already.'
"It seems we have both shown what we have to offer. All that remains is for us to go forth and spread the word", Darwin says as he turns to leave, expecting the others to follow him, carrying on the tune as he goes like some sort of pied piper.
