You all finish your meal and let Ida lead you to a nearby bathhouse. Each bath is 1sp, please mark your sheets accordingly.
Ida also acquires a new set of clothing for Hamish, purchasing him a set of Travellers clothes. Please mark both of your sheets accordingly.
If anyone else wishes to purchase anything common during this time, please note it below and do the necessary changes to your character sheet.
Then you set out for the Water Ward to find the Docks. If you walk, you will arrive slightly before sunset, which will be at 7pm, if you hire a coach for 1cp, you will arrive by late afternoon, around 5pm.
Ida offers to pay for the coach to get them down to the docks while there is still daylight, and hopefully before the dock master has left for the day.
Darwin purchases a set of traveller’s clothes to replace his carnival uniform, and heads into the bathhouse. When he reappears he has trimmed his beard nicely and tied back his purple hair neatly. He now cuts a rather dashing, if diminutive figure.
”A coach sounds like a great idea, I would probably slow you you all down if we walked”, he says looking at his little legs with a smile.
Rowan, make sure you remove 15 gold, Darwin make sure you remove 2gp.
The coach take you down to the water Ward and takes you directly to the docks. Ida, 1 cp removed please.
The docks are beginning to wind down for the day as the days cargo has mostly been unloaded or loaded as necessary. You can see one ship steadily making it's way into port.
Standing on the dock, their eyes watching the ship intently, is a Bronze Dragonborn in common loose britches, his chest bare and glittering in the sun light. His attention on the ship is broken slightly as he glances over his shoulder at the sound of the cart stopping and then pulling away as you all approach.
'Hail and Welcome.' he calls, turning back to the ship. 'Y'all looking for passage on a ship?'

"No, not today. We were asked to try to remedy this area of it's current infestation by the Duke of Haukberg. Are you the gentleman we need to speak with to get more details?"
Ida has a feeling that she can't quite understand. She smiles but is eyeing the area intently to see what made the hair on her neck stand up when they arrived. [Perception Check: 4 ]
The man cocks an eyebrow and looks over the party, 'Well, that I am young lady, the name's Aldheim, but I'm not exactly sure what that there Duke thinks y'all are going to be able to do bout it. 10 of my deck hands went in that there warehouse and only 4 came back out. We hired a fancy exterminator to come on down, he made it out, just barely. Said sum bout them there cats being like nothing he'd never heard of. Said his magics just slipped right off dem things. Said one of em exploded into 24 more when he hit it with a spell. Now, my lads reckon hitting em with a bat works just fine but even den, as I said, only four made it back out.'
He looks over at a warehouse over your shoulders apprehensively, as if scared that whatever dwells within might hear him and come out for him.
'It was my hope he'd send a company of his finest knights to wipe em out, but he sends you folk instead.'
Darwin wanders over and tugs slightly on Aldheim's britches to get his attention. "Mister Aldheim, how big are these cats?", he asks, a bit concerned that these animals are being killed wantonly. "Is there no way we can re-home them?".
Aldheim looks down at the Gnome quizzically, 'Son, lemme tell you sumthin', I spent twenty dang years sailing these waters, I fought pirates and raiders from the southern isles, I've kept a ship on track through the storms of angry gods and I've cruised past sea serpents the size of 10 ships without batting an eye. My point here is to tell ya that when I ain't fixin' to rush on in there and deal with the problem on my dang own, it ain't a light statement.' he sighs.
'Dey ain't no normal kittens, sure they look about the same, about the same size, but these things are evil. Dere mouths are filled with long sharp teeth and I already told ya bout the magics. They attack on sight, and they're smart and co-ordernated in a way that they just shouldn't be. My men, they said it was like the dang things could understand what they were saying and react to it.'
Ida has never heard of a creature like this, here or anywhere else. "Sir, is there anything else you can tell us? Are they more active at night or during the day? Do you know what they've been eating? Has anyone besides your men come to try to corner them? Do you know how many there were when your men last saw them?"

Darwin looks a bit suspicious of the boasts of the Dragonborn's accomplishments, but doesn't say anything and just listens as Ida questions him further. It was concerning that they had been sent to deal with such a dangerous problem, and he started getting the feeling that the Duke's lenient sentence might have just been a more palatable death sentence!
He looks over towards the warehouse that Aldheim had glanced at to see what he could see from here.
Hamish appears very clean and better dressed, but uncomfortable despite the upgrade in appearance. And despite the bath, his hair is still a mop-like tangle on his head that he has to keep pushing out of his eyes. He's quiet but observant at the docks until the talk turns to the threat they're meant to deal with. Multiplying demon cats? I'm not even a warrior! How am I supposed to be helpful here? He listens nervously, but looks around nonetheless to see if he can find anything to be helpful.
Aldheim spits into the water. 'We don't really have much to go on to be honest wit ya. We often see them appear near the windows throughout the day and night but it would seem less just after dawn. As for what they been eatin', I'd guess my men that didn't come back out. There was the exterminator we sent in. We don't really know how many. My men said that it was dark and they moved so quick they didn't know, but the exterminator said he caused one of 'em to explode and make more so...' he shrugs. 'sorry I can't be more help. All I can really do is point you in the direction of the warehouse and tell ya to be careful.'
Ida, you see that familiar presence at the corner of your eye and you know that Peter is watching your decision. The rest of the party are unaware of anything there.
Hamish takes a stutter step forward and raises his hand, then realizes there's no reason and awkwardly puts it back down. "Is it safe to assume you want to keep the warehouse?" Then he looks down and rasps, still loud enough to be heard, "A merchant once burned down an abandoned shop to drive us all back out on to the street. It was destructive but effective."
Darwin listens to Aldheim's reply, and the questions Hamish and Rowan ask. Burning down the warehouse seemed extreme, but at least the danger would then be contained, so not a bad solution. I guess there would be the risk of the fire spreading, and the contents of the warehouse would also be destroyed he thought as he mulled over the idea.
He looked at Hamish with a frown. "You really have had some terrible luck", he says on hearing abut the incident with the shop, "but don't worry, we got your back now", he adds with an encouraging smile before turning his attention back to Aldheim.

Neither of you see anything.
