Reeling from the sling pellet and heavily wounded, the mass of muscle and feathers reels away from Ida, causing her Axe to score a deep gash across the monster's haunch rather than burying in it's throat.
The stab is slightly off target again but the sword buries itself deep in the beasts chest.
Raging with the last of it's lifeforce, it tries to peck at Toryn again, this time punching through the armor and dealing 10 damage. Spurred by it's success and tasting blood, it wheels around and takes it's talons across the Dwarf, sundering chainmail and scoring deep gashes for 20 more damage.
The screech as Toryn falls could only be described as victorious. It stares down Ida defiantly, while blood continues to veritably pour from it's many wounds.
"NOOOO!!!", Darwin shouts as the beast manages to fell Toryn.
He once again dips into the well of power within him, and another beam of eldritch energy streaks from his palm towards the beast, but once again it skews wide of the mark
Hamish feels his breath catch in his throat as Toryn falls. The sorrow, fear, and anger roil together into a fell power that rushes silently from his lips as he hoarsely whispers, "You will know pain unending."
((Casting Dissonant Whispers, DC 13 Wisdom, 8 psychic damage))
For some inexplicable reason, the mean whispers deal the killing blow. Perhaps the beast realized the futility of it's situation and stopped fighting against the pull of it's wounds, maybe it's brain exploded. No one will ever know, but suddenly, the creature collapses.
Ida uses "Light" upon her shield to illuminate the area. She turns to look for each person, seeing Darwin and Hamish, and Toryn on the ground. She can't quickly find Antonius, so she loudly calls for him. She looks toward where the horses were to see if they had been scared and run.
Ida heads over to Toryn, and gently touches his shoulder. She tries to focus on the good that has surrounded them the past several days and let's it flow through her and into him.
"Anyone recognize what that creature was? Just curious if they travel in groups..." Ida asks everyone with the hope that someone has some information. She already knew they weren't going to sleep well after that attack, and Toryn was going to need additional attention.
Darwin breathes a sigh of relief, “Welcome back Toryn”.
He turns to Ida, “We sure are lucky to have you around”. He then considers her question for a moment, before replying, “I don’t recognise that thing sorry, not my area of expertise”.
Wandering back over to where he was sitting earlier, he picks up his pan flute. “Don’t much feel like playing any more”, he says putting it away.

I'll take first watch. Toryn relays his knowledge to the others. Although he's still in pain from his wounds, his warrior ethos pushes him to accept the danger of the watch.

'Wiesenberg.' Antonius breathes. Then, louder, 'We'll stay in the city walls tonight and then strike out to the demonstration site first thing. It's about another days ride north, to the edge of the Great Plains.
However, as you approach the gates and announce yourselves, the guard on the wall hails you.
'Antonius? Marshall Klaus sent word to look out for you. He says you're late and that when you arrived to push you on through the city to Einfallton where he has arranged for a small escort to take you to the site'
Antonius groans, saddle weary and tired.
'He has said there'll be fresh horses for your return and you should push yours hard to be there as soon as possible.'
Antonius nods and the gate opens to reveal two mounted guards awaiting who guide you through the center of the city to the North Gate and see you out and on the road to Einfallton.
'Time to dig Spurs, I guess.' Antonius says with resignation.

Darwin runs over to Toryn and sees the seriousness of his wounds.
”Ida, I don’t think Toryn is doing so good”, he says kneeling down close to him.
Antonius, half way into his suit, hops over to the rest of the party. 'Damn thing needs some fine tuning for ease of access.' he says absent mindedly.
