Darwin appears downcast, but after another glance at his friends that look turns to one of resolve.
”Then so be it, this has not been the happiest of times anyway”, he says to the Stranger. He turns to the others, “My apologies, you will have to explain all this to me later I’m afraid”.
His serious expression breaks as he spots the tiny red faerie dragon.
”Of course he can accompany me, he is spectacular!”, he says enthusiastically reaching his hand out to beckon it to him. He has never seen its like before, not even at the carnival did they have such a wondrous creature.
The stranger smiles, 'Fantastic.' she breathes and bends to bestow a kiss upon Darwin's forehead, claiming her price in the process. Then she waves her hand towards the mouth of the tunnel. 'When you leave this cave you will find yourselves back on the material plane. I would understand if you wish to take revenge upon this creature before leaving but I would appreciate leaving her with me.'
Ida is rendered somewhat speechless by the exchanges over the past minutes. She does realize that Volen is not the only remaining orc, and does want to make sure thai stranger isn't caught off guard.
"We appreciate your assistance to Darwin throughout this. If you do indeed possess his memories of our time here, then you know that there are 4 orcs within this space. Volen, then Gruuk is in his chamber, and two others are locked up nearby. No offense intended as I believe you to be capable of much, but I do not want to leave you unprepared to deal with them, if needed."
"Revenge on whom?", he asks a little confused, but then turns his attention back to the tiny dragon with a shrug, as it lands on his shoulder and settles around the base of his neck.
"Not sure where we are, but it would be really good to get back to Haukberg and finish this job", he says idly.
The Stranger smiles, 'Oh don't you worry about them.' she says and then does a slight shooing motion with her hands, 'Now off you young 'uns run. I'm sure your inventor friend very much wants to get home and it seems that the big man may have some family drama to confront.'
Hamish is quiet through the whole interaction with the mysterious creature of the Feywild, this Stranger. He watches her with suspicious eyes as she bargains with Darwin for this memories. She reminds Hamish far too much of the patronizing people who tried to "solve" the problem of the street kids of Haukberg, people who seem to have no regard for any life beyond their own and who are solely motivated by self-interest. Hamish is grateful that Darwin seems to share none of those repugnant traits as he bargains to protect everyone else from losing their memories.
As the faerie dragon appears and speaks to Darwin, Hamish is a bit surprised to understand what it says. "Caper?" he mutters aloud in what he thought was the only language he knew. When Ida motions them forward, he follows her unhesitatingly. While the Feywild felt like a place to stay for Hamish, he wants to be with his friends, to help them in their own journeys, and to further understand what he is that the Stranger would speak of him both fondly and appraisingly.
Agnarr and Antonius follow the rest of the party out the cave system to find themselves just outside of Haukberg.
'Well now, that's interesting.' Antonius says and glances back at the empty air behind him. 'Fey Crossings are usually just planar travel, not teleportation and planar travel...' he narrows his eyes as if thinking.
'I shall head to the Palace and inform the Duke of the completion of your task, then return to my workshop. Feel free to take whatever gold you're owed from the payment we collected from the Marshall before I leave and i'll begin working on the other aspects of your payment as soon as I return. Big man, since the Dwarf perished and you helped get me out of there, and because I'd already budgeted for 4, you can take his cut.'
Agnarr gazes at the walls in something akin to disbelief. 'It'd take a million men to breach these.' he breathes. 'Can I accompany you in the city for a time?' he asks the three of you, though mostly looking at Ida. 'I need to resupply, recoup some and then set off east for the Lousumpf to find the artifact for my father.'
Ooc: I can't access the Discord right now and trying to go back and figure out the terms of the agreement without it was a pain but I think it broke down like this:
3gp per day, with an initial estimate of 11 days. You arranged for, in lieu of money, 8 days worth of crafting, plus the 3 days gold payment. That 11 days became 14, I believe, however the return half never occurred as planned. As such, you spent 7 days, I believe, heading there. Then you spent a 10 day in captivity. I don't think that 10 day includes the half a days travel south at the beginning of the return or the time spent during the planning and execution of the escape plan at the end there.
So we'll call it 19 days pay due, which Antonius tripled upon imprisonment, and as the crafting was agreed based on the base pay, not the tripled pay, the math gets complicated 😂 I'm going to triple the days, rather than the coin;
57 days pay is due to each of you. Minus the 8 days of crafting, which came out of everyone's share equally.
Each party member, at this time, is due 49 days at 3gp, or 147gp.
Now, you may still negotiate the exact terms of this pay, i.e. transfer gold into crafted items, just know that a days worth of crafting takes a days pay from everyone so feel free to discuss this in the discord.
P.s. if you do wish to have more crafted items made, assume Agnarr is good with it cos he wasn't expecting to be paid for his prison stint anyway 😂
Ida is astonished at where they are standing and how it happened. She realizes how lucky they have been in the last several hours not only to survive mostly unscathed but to be back in Haukberg without further issue. She hears what Antonius says, and what Agnarr says, but her exhaustion is causing her to take longer to process. She finally catches up and looks at Antonius.
"Antonius, the Duke and his Chancellor needs to know of Volen and her schemes with Agnarr's brother. They may know much more about the activities out of the city that may be bringing trouble here, or they may be in the dark. We need to be sure they understand the danger, in it's entirety. Can you relay that to them or should possibly Agnarr accompany you? Not to mention, you still aren't safe. I'm not offering to continue protecting you, but you need a guard that can't be bought off."
Darwin turns his focus back to the group. "I remember agreeing to give up some memories, but obviously I have missed some stuff. It would be good to go and get a bath and some food, we all seem to smell some and I am starving! We can discuss all that either there or on the way Ida? As for payment Antonius, I would be happy to have the item you promised, and if any more is owed due to what has occurred, just make it more potent if possible?".
He drops his backpack to the floor, "And this seems more bulky too", he adds and opens it to reveal some of the stuff they found in Volen's chest. "What is all this stuff?".
(OOC: Any chance of Antonius identifying the belt decorated with dwarven characters, the wand that is exceptional in it's extravagant appearance, the amulet of fine metal with a glowing rune and the cloak of grand material?)
((Please make an Arcana check to try and identify the items. Should it fail you may need to find someone capable of identifying them.
Also, what item did you request from Antonius?))
Agnarr arches an eyebrow, 'I may not be the best suited person for an audience with a Duke.' he says, 'and why would he not be safe?' Agnarr asks.
Antonius bristles 'I'm quite capable of delivering the information, and I'm sure your suspicions are wide of the mark, my partner needs me for our creations.'
Ida looks to Darwin to see if she knows what anything is.
Arcana Check: 5
She looks back to Antonius. "I am genuinely concerned for your safety. Someone knew every detail and took the wrath of the emperor himself to deliver that information to Volen or Agnarr's brother. Your creations are highly lucrative, as the Emperor and his Marshall have made aware. But keeping them out of the Emperor's hands could be just as lucrative to his enemies. Think- you are not safe simply because we are back in Haukberg. I would like to accompany you to see the Duke, simply to relax my concerns and be sure that you are being protected by his guard while you work. Please allow me to do so?"

Darwin strokes the Faerie Dragon under the chin as he walks towards the entrance to the cave.
It purrs and then to his surprise it speaks, and to his further surprise he understands what it says.
”The name is Caper. The Lady told me we would get on”, it says in Sylvan, followed by a sly chuckle.
”Oh I am most certain we will”, he replies, also in Sylvan, as he leaves the cave and ends up….
Darwin steps out of the cave and finds himself bathed in the shadows of the wall on the Northern side of Haukberg.
Ida motions to the rest of the party, she takes in Battle-axe in her right hand to be able to defend Darwin and hurries after him.
As Darwin appears outside Haukberg, Caper instinctively becomes invisible.
”Do not worry Darwin, I will remain with you, but it is not in my nature to reveal myself to just anyone”, Caper whispers in Sylvan.
Darwin turns around and waits for the others, whispering “I am excited to see what other tricks you have”.

Arcana: 11
(OOC: He asked for a Rod of the Pact Keeper)
((if Darwin is taking no further payment, I'll allow you to receive the rare version once he's done.))
Wth an 11, you can identify one item. Which one?
Deal :)
He will identify the wand please.
You identify the wand as a Wand of Wonder.
