Darwin looks up from the wand. “This appears to be a Wand of Wonder. Is it something one of you would like? It is a bit random for my tastes”.
He catches the end of Ida and Antonius’ discussion. “I still think we should get cleaned up before presenting ourselves to the Duke”, he adds, inserting himself into the plan to see the Duke as well. After all, he could probably identify the other items.
Grand idea, Darwin. Let's all get cleaned up, get some food, get some rest, and meet to go to the Duke's together? That still doesn't alleviate the issue of Antonius being in trouble though. Antonius, would you please stay another night from home? We can all stay at a nice Inn, go visit the Duke, and then separate after more information is known?
Ida walks until she finds a decent inn. She keeps an eye on Antonius and smiles to herself watching Darwin look up at Agnarr as they walk together. She needs to speak to Hamish about what the Stranger said, but she knows it's best if they get sleep first.
Inside she requests 5 rooms, each with an area to bath, and each with a meal now and a meal after they wake.
You pay 5gp for the pleasure of these rooms and are free to retire or revel, whichever each member prefers.
Agnarr, for his part, sits at the bar and begins to drink heavily. You get the impression he's trying to process the implied involvement of his brother in his captivity and what that may mean in a broader sense.
Darwin luxuriates in his hot bath, busily chatting away to the invisible Caper, sharing stories and getting to know one another.
Caper also tells him of a ritual that can be performed to further cement their bond, and he determines to go out and acquire the materials as soon as possible.
Once he is done in the bath, he eats in the common room, chatting to whoever else is present, asking questions about the time period of his missing memory in order to get back up to speed.
Ida happily pays for everyone simply to get clean. She believes it may be the most thorough bath she's ever taken. After she goes back downstairs to eat, happy to feel full for the first time in weeks. She goes back to her room and passes out quickly.
Hamish likes the heft of the wand in his hand and is excited to hopefully understand his magic, even if he has more questions from everything that has happened. He doesn't realize how grateful he is to be back in the relative safety of civilization until he is trying to explain to Darwin what exactly happened and laughing at the stories Darwin shares with his invisible companion. He eats his fill, casts a look of compassion at Agnarr, then makes his way to his room and passes out not moments after his head touches the pillow.
Ida slept more soundly that she imagined, and woke up more rested than expected. She immediately looked for Peter, to try to talk to him before going downstairs, but he wasn't making himself easily visible. She wasn't sure if she was imagining his presence in her peripheral vision or not, but she knew damned well that he would be evasive if he didn't want to speak. She dressed, made a note to go get new clothing from home as quickly as she could, and announced while twirling around the room: "We are still due for a long talk, Peter. You can't avoid it forever."
"I think that would be best. I'm sure the Duke and his Chancellor are anxious to hear of your return and of the circumstances that led you to be delayed. Now that I've gotten a nice long rest, I feel capable of better understanding the events of the last 48 hours. Everyone is joining us, right?" Ida looks to Darwin and Hamish first, then to Agnarr.
Hamish woke up from his comatose sleep suddenly, knowing time had past but feeling for the life of him it had not. He's not sure he's ever felt that way when waking up, but maybe he really was that tired after their whole ordeal. "I'm certainly coming along. I think the Chancellor will want to know my magic allows me to do things I didn't even know I could do before."
Darwin woke up in the large bed and stretched. After spending time in the tap room with Hamish filling in the missing pieces of his memory, he had made for his room and spent some time performing the ritual of bonding with Caper.
It had formed a link between them and he felt the well of power given to him by the Stranger, or was it the Lady, had grown as the bonding finished.
“About time you woke up”, a voice utters in his mind, surprising him. “I’m hungry, let’s go forage”, it continued.
Darwin smiles, “You’re not the only one”, he thinks in reply, and jumps up and gets dressed.
He joins the others for breakfast, feeding tidbits to Caper as he eats.
”Yes count me in, I am still hopeful the Duke will be able to tell us what those other items are all about”.
(OOC: I am hoping we managed to get our clothes laundered during the bath or overnight, if not Darwin would also have to acquire new clothes)
You are once again guided into the Chancellor's office where he smiles in greeting, 'Ah! Splendid, I was beginning to think you had simply decided not to stop in upon your return.' the elf says genially as he looks up to see you.
Ida speaks carefully but does not let her surprise be hidden: "Were you not aware of our detainment? We were to be protected upon leaving the Marshall, but we're ambushed shortly after. We were held prisoner by an Orc named Volen who was working in conjunction with others to keep us an many others imprisoned for their own purposes. We found out that we were in the Feywild before escaping, so we are lucky to be here standing before you.
Didn't the Marshall contact the Duke? Wasn't there some kind of search party?'

Antonius shrugs, 'Why not, however, you are no longer in my employ.'

Hamish's ears perk up at the wand's description. "I wouldn't mind trying it out. Sounds like it might be a better way to understand my own magic."
Darwin hands Hamish the wand, “Sure thing”.
Antonius grumbles but shrugs, 'Fine, but you're just delaying your own pay.'
Agnarr clears his throat, 'No one minds if I accompany?'
Darwin wanders over to Agnarr and looks up at him.
”Not at all, you can explain to me how we became friends as we walk”, he says with a smile.
Alright, let's go find an inn so that we can get cleaned up and eat. Then sleep. Oh do I need sleep.
Ida begins walking toward an area that contains several inns.
OOC- I've pocketed my 147 GP
Darwin follows Ida, his hand idly stroking what appears to be empty air just above his shoulder.
“Feels like I haven’t eaten well in weeks!”, he says thinking he is exaggerating, but in reality that is pretty much the case.
Ida walks until she finds a decent inn. She keeps an eye on Antonius and smiles to herself watching Darwin look up at Agnarr as they walk together. She needs to speak to Hamish about what the Stranger said, but she knows it's best if they get sleep first.

The next morning, you all reconvene in the tap room to a hearty breakfast, ready to begin the day.
'So, straight to the Palace after breakfast?'

Sure, the inn laundered your clothes.
With all hands ready, you set off for the Palace.
