"Agnarr - if we need at least 15, we should try to get them. But we do need to be careful with them and watch them. You are the only amongst us who has sailed, we will go by your guidance now. Please ask those of the crew to stay with promise of getting them to the port they departed from if needed."
Agnarr steps to the railing so that all those still aboard and those on the whales can hear him.
'Gentlemen! The Ravensmast is under new management! I am Agnarr, son of Rune. These are my comrades, the Dame Ida, Burkhard and Erik, and we are the new officers. If you have had your fill of piracy, or simply fear the Sea King's wroth, we find ourselves in need of good men to sail this vessel. We will not gangpress any of you but if you wish to continue to serve this vessel...if you wish to serve the Storm Blessed prince!...if you wish to serve the Divine Knight!...if you wish to serve the Feared Chaos Mage!...If you wish to serve the Mighty Planeswalker! return to your station and we will set sail for glory!' he calls to the crew, gesticulating throughout his speech to his comrades and the vessel. As he introduced each of the party by the most impressive titles he can think of in the moment, he gestures to each, his voice raising to a crescendo.
The crew cheer at his final word and all begin to climb their ropes back to the deck, to return to duty.
Agnarr grins happily and walks back to the other three, 'Didn't know that was going to work, to be honest.' he chuckles. 'Well, we have a crew, for now at least. We should decide who has what billet, things are smoother that way. I, personally, put myself forward for Bosun, I can keep the dogs in line through absolute terror if needs be. That would leave Captain, First Mate and Quartermaster. The Quartermaster is the navigator though so I can take that role if you'd like.'
Darwin watches Agnarr rally the crew of the Ravensmast to their cause and can’t help but be impressed.
He can see his noble lineage now, perhaps for the first time.
”I think you would best serve as Captain, Ida”, he says.
”I have no skills at navigation, and am not sure how good of a first mate I would be either. Hamish, I think you should do it. Someone needs to give you a chance to show what you are capable of, and who better than us?”.
"Didn't expect that from you, Agnarr. That was impressive!!" Ida smiles happily as the crew return to their posts and at the fact that they won't be losing more time.
Captain?! I've never sailed? Her mind is suddenly racing when Peter's voice comes over her shoulder "you understand leadership and it's responsibility more than anyone. You would make a fine captain for your purpose."
She nods to Darwin's statement and smiles. "I think I could be Captain with you as my support. Agnarr, I'll need you to tell me what to say sometimes, I'm not familiar with the nautical terminology. Hamish, I'll need you by my side as my right hand, I trust your instincts. And Darwin, you will be the eyes and ears- you have the ability and the insight we will need. Agnarr - tell us what to do so we can continue on."
Agnarr looks around, 'Well, we're moving on sail right now so that's fine. We need to try and get our bearings and make sure we didn't get knocked off course by the Sea King's appearance, or even our attempted escape, who knows if the former captain cared to make sure he was still on course.'
He goes to the fallen crew members and begins to start rifling through their clothes to try and find a compass. 'If it was night, I might be able to do this by the stars, but by day I need a compass.'
Aoi watches Agnarr rifle through the clothes of his fallen crew mates while thinking about the speech the crew was just given. This was his chance to stand out from the rest of the crew. He approaches Agnarr and bows.
"I am Aoi. Is this what you are looking for?" Aoi holds out a compass. "I overheard you talking with your comrades about getting your bearings and staying on course. I could help, I have experience navigating."
Aoi faces Ida and bows. "Hello Dame Ida. I have sailed these waters for more years than some of the crew has been alive, so I would dare say I am very experienced.", he says with humble confidence.
Aoi turns to Darwin and bows again. "I will be loyal so long as you and your comrades do not threaten my life. I have many years still ahead of me and I wish to enjoy the time I have; to that end, making enemies of a prince and his comrades will only see me leaving this world before I can experience all it has to offer." Aoi keeps his eyes locked with Darwin's while he speaks, wanting him to see his honesty.
"Well we can certainly utilize your experience on this journey, thank you for coming forward to offer your knowledge" Ida says respectfully. "And we have no intention of threatening your life, only to defend ours when it's needed. Agnarr, please consult our course with Aoi, and confirm you two have similar ideas on the fastest route."
"You will find we make good allies and better friends, Aoi", he says. "Although the latter seem hard to find. Perhaps you are the exception, we will see".
"Tell me, how did you come to be aboard a pirate ship? Or, if you are busy now, maybe later".
Hamish's eyebrows rise at the title given to him by Agnarr, and then his jaw drops at the suggestion of serving as First Mate. But when Darwin and Ida offers their encouragement, he can't help but puff up a little bit. He nods. "I think I would like that very much."
At Aoi and Agnarr's approach, Hamish gives a small wave but otherwise stays quiet. Darwin and Ida are much better at the talking parts, so he'll just listen and observe, and start to internally panic about not knowing nautical topics. He chuckles under his breath at Aoi's willingness to step forward and help them out.
Agnarr nods, 'We're heading for Porto Di Baio.' he tells Aoi, unsure if the previous captain told the crew their destination and guides the former pirate to the wheel.
Aoi, please make a perception check to ascertain your current bearings, and then a survival check to set the course.
Aoi takes a moment to gather his bearings. "I can get us to Porto Di Baio. I will need you to return the compass I gave you in order to set our course."
Agnarr passes the compass back and Aoi skillfully corrects course in minute details to ensure that the fastest possible route is being taken.
That evening, the party sits down for dinner as one for the first time that day, the wheel being manned by a trusted crew member vouched for by Aoi.
The food is still a decently high quality this soon after having left a port. The meal is one of Okoku origin, prepared by the ship's cook. Beef and noodles in a savory sauce with broccoli is the fare for the evening.
Darwin hungrily tucks into his meal, enjoying being at the Captain's table.
"So, Aoi, tell us about your time aboard the Ravensmast. Did you know it was a pirate vessel when you joined the crew?", he asks between mouthfuls of the noodles, and then picks up his mug of wine and drains it.
Hamish is impressed by the food laid out before them wondering if he's ever eaten as well as he has recently. At Darwin's question, he looks up at Aoi, intrigued by their newest comrade.

"It is decided then, great", Darwin says. "And Caper can be our look-out", he adds with a broad smile.
For his part, Caper is now relaxing in the crow's nest, curled up with half an eye on the horizon.
"When he has had a nap anyway", he adds.

Agnarr arches an eyebrow at the crewmen who's approached him.
'Well, that'd be mighty handy.' he answers. 'Lets go talk to the others.'
Agnarr stands and leads Aoi to the others, 'Seems like we may have found a navigator, meet Aoi.' he jerks his head towards the crewman.
"Hello Aoi. How experienced are you on these waters?" Ida asks as she nods her head at the introduction.
Darwin looks at Aoi with suspicion written all across his face.
"Trying to get in the good graces of the new captain. Smart move", he says nodding appreciatively whilst he sizes Aoi up.
"Nothing like a revolution to free up ones chances for promotion. Will you be loyal to us, Aoi?", he asks flatly, not beating around the bush at all.

'Mortality can be quite the motivator.' Agnarr interjects, looking around at the crew who chose life rather than defend the former Captain.
