Fargenconsiders (8) the title martyrs of the Basilisk and whether the man might be referring to himself, those in their surroundings, or the party.
The wise dwarf wonders how might a man acquire such a gem and walks closer to get a better look (18) at the stone and couple, "Congratulations seem in order." Fargen greets them.
(Fargen figures the man is referring to the statues that adorn the gates. Heroes of the past. each statue dressed in armor, looks on as if protectively watching over you. One of those things where they look like the eyes actively watch you no matter what angle you stand.)
The couple smiles "Thankyou sir dwarf." The woman is looking at her new ring, it's not cheap, you're sure its worth more than 100gp. The man gently lays his hand on hers and covers the diamond gently pushes her hand down to her side holding her in an embrace with one arm. Looking at you in askance "I saw you as I left Calisham."
Seeing Fargen stop to greet and talk with the dwarfs, Nobody awkwardly stood back along with any others to watch and wait for the dwarf. Although if any had a mind to carry on and follow through on his earlier suggestion, he would offer to... stay behind and alert Fargen on the change of plans once he was done with the couple.

"You did now, eh? I didn't realize I was worth noticing."Fargen jokes light-heartedly. "Quite a nice stone there- I say this an honest dwarf with fondness for jewels. Did you acquire that gem from a jeweler in Calisham?"
Fargen eyes the man intently, gauging his response (23)
"Well! Congratulations!"Thufir says a bit too loudly clapping the man on the back. He then continues with a smile, "Have you been with our caravan? Or is it just coincidence that you see us here again? Either way, Your good news calls for a drink! Let's find a tavern. Bring your new bride. Drinks are on me for you two."
The man shrugs answering Thufir "Thank you sir knight. I didn't know about the caravan." then he replies to Fargen "Yes Little Callisham is famous for its gems and jewelry, I got the ring from Jarrad's. A shop near the Oasis Theater." He seems honest.
"Well that's quite the ring ya got for your lady here! I hope Jarrad gave you a good price on it!"Thufir says, as he puts a hand on the mans back, almost pushing him, "But come come! Let's get some ale in the two of you! You've got celebrating to do tonight!" He then leads them to the nearest tavern.
Fargen steers the conversation back to Calisham, "Seemed like a few folks where noticing us on the outskirts Calisham. Didn't like the looks of it. I prefer to trade in markets where certain standards are in place."
He leans in closer so the fiancée does not hear, "I hope you received assurances it was not a blood diamond. Violence can taint the stone."
Nobody looks noticeably shocked at at Thufir's suggestion. And after a quick and nervous look to Lorben, he leans over and whispers to his fellow tiefling, "I don't know about you, but do you think maybe we should go look for the temple and come find these guys later?" He tries to subtly gesture over to Thufir with his tail. If, however, the response isn't so swift a one that Thufir(and Fargen by extension) are well on their way to whatever looked to be a tavern, a once again startled Nobody hurried just enough along to catch up and says, "G-g-guys! W-we still got a quite bit else to do, don't we? L-like a temple!" He then turned to the couple. "I-I'm sorry to intrude and bring the mood down. B-but, uh, mayhaps you can help us? A-as in, do either of you know where we might find a temple in town?"

The man shakes his head "They would not ruin their reputation," Then his gaze falls on Thufir "Normally, I would be honored to join you sir knight but me and the misses have plans." The couple walks off hand n hand between the gates, into the city
Fargen assures Nobody, "Yes, let's get back the task at hand. I thought perhaps this man had other intentions or was an agent of the cult. But it's obvious he was nothing more than a distraction."

"And a rather focused one at that, as I-I don't think my question even registered with them." In spite of the incidental(or perhaps not incidental) rudeness, Nobody shrugged it off with a weak smile and carried on by saying, "You were concern that he might've been following us then? Fair enough. With our recent fortunes, we do stand out quite a bit. But speaking of standing out, let's see if any of the local guardsman than might be willing to provide some guidance."
On that note, Nobody took a deep breath as if steeling himself, before searching the immediate area of the gate for any signs of uniformed knight or obvious guardsman to approach and ask plainly, "E-excuse me, but a moment of your time? I-I, er, me and my fellows were hoping to find a temple. Any chances you can point us to any?"
Fargen addresses the newest members of the group, now that they are out of the company of the caravan. "My real name is Fargen, but ye can still call me 'Weld' if ye like."
"The Watchful Shield is the temple of Helm. There's a good chance the cleric and paladins can set the prince right, if we can appeal to their good nature. Thufir, I think your request will carry some weight."
"I myself have read about Gond's High House of Wonders and I feel obligated to see it myself."
Some tasks I recall
Finding a cleric to break the prince's curse (Temple of Helm?)
Acquiring spell components
Fargen wants to trade for diamonds (Market or back to seedy town?)
(@Stormbringer: Also, are there not any guards near or at the gate or the obvious equivalent that we might be able to ask for directions? As I don't think any of us is familiar with the city beyond simply knowing of it and maybe of its reputation.)

Nobody had absently nodded along in first; but, as it became clear just how many temples there were, which was something he perhaps should've ancitipated, the tiefling frantically pulls out a book and charcoal pencil to scratch down notes for proper penning later! "I-I see, hmm... I see Helm is quite popular in the city, huh?" He gives the dwarf an awkward smile before affixing his focus once more on his notes.
"Hmm~ Should see about getting a map of the town at some point, but, uhm, the Temple District? Which way is that?" He asks of the dwarf. And once he hopefully had his answers on that point, he gives the guard a curt but formal bow before rushing to the others with news, alongside the suggestion, "Might as well head straight there, yea? N-not that I think Helm is big into horns. But, from what I know of the fella, I doubt any of his priests would try to cheat us if we try to trade them some of the horns as payment for this whole curse removal service."

Fargen lifts an eyebrow to the guards accounting of the temples and turns to his companions to confer.
"The clerics of the Morninglord may be more sympathetic to our friend's plight. Clerics of Helm see order first; some may have foul hearts. The Moringlord would see the renewal of the prince. Which ever we choose, off to the temple district."
The black-bearded dwarf prompts the guard, "Point the way to the temple district, sir. We've got a curse to dispel." Fargen trods off the the direction indicated.
