Robin follows Rosie over to the mess. "Here, let me help in cleaning up this mess..." Robin says, moving in to give a hand in cleaning up while her companions check out the trunk a bit more closely. She helps Rosie up until Jedavii finishes his search of the trunk.
"Make sure to let me know when you plan on your next event." Robin tells Rosie. "I'd love to watch you in action." She gives the gnome a friendly smile. "Best be seeing where my other friends are wanting to head off to now." Waving to Rosie, she heads off to join Jedavii and the others.
Mavinda addresses you all. "Well, students, Campus Security should be here any second to survey the scene. There is nothing more required of you for today - the orientation scavenger hunt has been completed! I hope you all had fun and that the items and trinkets you've found along the way will be of some use to you as you embark on the first leg of your academic journey. You may spend the rest of the day as you see fit, but be sure to stop by the dorms for your room assignments. Thank you for participating! And please, do your best not to be late again. Best of luck for the rest of the term! Please do not hesitate to seek me out if you need any help."
Jedavii gives a nod. "Thanks, Professor! See you!"
As the professor leaves, the downforce from her takeoff knocks his mascot fractal fox off its perch. The gith catches it and sticks it back, secure to his arm.
"Now... what next? I was thinking of looking into a job, then heading for the dorms. Then maybe dinner?"
"I was going to check in at the Firejolt Café to see if I could get a job there." Robin said, glancing back to where Rosie's crew was finishing up the cleaning. Robin gave the gnome a friendly wave then nodded to Jedavii. "You are free to come with me, or we can all just meet up later. I plan on checking into my dorm room once I get done at the Café."
Does Robin's interactions with Rosie get her any relationship points with Rosie?
"I was thinking the tavern would be more my speed. That session at the Biblioplex says that me in a cafe is a disaster waiting to happen!" He chuckles, taking the experience in stride. "But I'll meet you at the dorms after I get back, definitely!"
Canon shuffles uncomfortably as the others discuss finding jobs, still being somewhat unsure about the concept. He perks up a bit when Jedavii mentions the Biblioplex, though. "Well, if we have some free time, I'd definitely like to take a look around the library some more. Oh, where to even start!"
It has been three weeks since Orientation, the fateful day that brought all of you together through the bonds of education, activities, tardiness, and trunk-slaying. Since then, you have all made yourselves at home at Strixhaven. This magical place, though certainly overwhelming at first, has truly grown on you. You’ve made friends, joined clubs, worked jobs, and maybe even learned a thing or two. With all of your conflicting schedules, it can sometimes be hard to meet up as a full group, but you always manage to find time to come together and hang out, happy for the company and a reprieve from the demands of college life.
Robin has spent her time at Strixhaven well, her scribing magics proving to be quite useful for taking detailed notes on a plethora of subjects. Many of her fellow students often ask to borrow hers to pick up on things they missed. She also spends a good deal of time with the Dragonsguard Historical Society, learning and discussing the history of Arcavios, the Blood Age, the Founder Dragons, and Strixhaven itself. The debates Robin holds with fellow freshman Rampart Sooviij are particularly enlightening to even senior members of the Society, and the two have developed a mutual respect and friendship. She finds work as a server at the Firejolt Cafe, delivering coffee and pastries to her fellow students alongside second year Silverquill student Mina Lee. Always on the lookout for a new subject to write about in the Strixhaven Star, Mina often has Robin jot things down when she does not have the chance. The two of them often spend their breaks together, swapping stories and discussing current events on campus. And whenever she gets the chance, Robin drops in on the meetings and events of the LARP Guild to spend time with her friend Rosie. The energetic gnome is determined to recruit Robin into the Guild, but so far has had no luck. Despite this, she seems content just to have Robin around.
Jedavii’s jolly and affable nature serves him well at Strixhaven. He is quite popular on his dorm’s floor for baking fresh cookies and pies, which he often shares with his neighbors. He’s also become something of a favored pupil to Curtie Axechucker, the head chef at the Bow’s End Tavern; the dwarf’s passion for cooking and method of following the heart rather than the recipe reminds Jedavii of his halfling family back home, so he takes to it like a dragon turtle to water. During his breaks, he often hangs out with Javenesh Stoutclaw, a second year student of Lorehold College. Despite the owlin’s intimidating exterior, Jedavii discovers that Jav is actually quite nice and seems grateful for his company. They swap stories of home and sports over a fresh batch of food Jedavii whips up in the kitchen for them to share. When he isn’t working or studying, Jedavii hangs out with his fellow gym rats in the Iron-Lifter’s Society, getting those gains alongside his fellow freshman Greta Gorunn. They often team up when a spotter is required, and they’re still desperately trying to implement the halfling-lifting concept, though it’s currently having trouble catching on with the senior members of the Society. After workouts the two often unwind at Bow’s End over a beer and lots of jokes, which Greta always guffaws at regardless of who tells it or even if it’s funny.
At first, Canon has a bit of trouble fitting in outside of the main group. When not with his friends, he spends his time wandering the Biblioplex, absentmindedly reaching for books on the high shelves for shorter students and restocking tomes that are out of order. After about a week of this, he’s discovered by fellow loner Drazhomir Yarnask, a soft-spoken minotaur second-year student of Quandrix College. The two chatted briefly, and after that Canon ended up being hired as a book clerk at the Biblioplex. Conveniently enough, Drazhomir and Canon’s breaks often line up. They’ve spent some of them together bonding over their shared experience of being misjudged based on their hulking appearances and have formed a friendship. Following a somewhat disastrous audition for the Strixhaven Showband Association, he ended up being accepted as a percussionist playing the triangle with the promise that if he practices hard and improves, he can work his way up to the strings section. Any dismay he felt was soon replaced by intense determination, and Canon became a frequent sight in the campus practice rooms. What he lacked in talent he made up for in sheer passion. This caught the attention of two students in particular: Rubina Larkingdale and Aurora Luna Wynterstarr. Rubina is by far the most respected member of the Showband, which is remarkable considering she is only a freshman and has already been selected as a conductor. She’s noted Canon’s persistent practicing and has developed a respect for his hard work, and she’s provided more than a few useful (if at times brutally honest) critiques. Meanwhile, Aurora has practically taken Canon under her wing and become his private instructor, joining him when he practices and teaching him as best she can. Funny enough, she seems to be the only one to recognize the fledgling artistic intent behind Canon’s screeching strings and encourages him to put his whole heart into his playing.
Marius is welcomed with open arms into Strixhaven’s theatre scene. A few days into the first week, the Drama Guild holds auditions for A Midwinter Daydream, the student production for this semester. After the audition and callback process, there is a surprise upset as three first-years have been cast in the love triangle-entrapped leading roles: Rubina Larkingdale as Ellena, Quentillius Antiphiun Melentor III as Damien, and Marius Stargem as Laurynas. As a result, the three spend a good deal of time together running lines and rehearsing scenes as well as establishing a rapport outside of rehearsal, too. Rubina admires Marius’ clear action and heart-wrenching honesty as a performer, while Quentillius seems to see Marius as a worthy rival for the honor of Strixhaven’s best male performer, though Marius and Rubina are quick to remind the dramatic Quent that it isn’t a competition. The three of them become fast friends. In addition to this, Marius gets hired as a stagehand by the Performing Arts Society, using his years of experience as a theatre kid to help behind the scenes. His mending and message cantrips are particularly useful for this job! The Society holds some sort of performance or event every week, from a night of improv games, stand-up comedy specials, 24-hour play festivals, open mics, student recitals, and more; Marius’ presence as a stagehand has helped salvage more than a few tech-related problems that could have potentially derailed the show. Often on the way to work, he runs into his coworker and fellow first-year Larine Arneza, usually distracted by stray cats, errant frogs, hungry fish, and other creatures in the parks, ponds, and pools around campus. Marius has taken it upon himself to help Larine make her way to the theater and get to work on time when she gets distracted by cute animals. Despite him constantly dragging her away from the objects of her affection, Larine understands that Marius is just trying to help her, and so she considers him a friend.
Hark focuses hard on his studies, earning admiration from his instructors and his fellow students for his dedication and willingness to learn. This hunger for knowledge carries over into his involvement with the newest club on campus, Student-Mages of Faith. With its members coming from a wide variety of planes, cultures, and walks of life, Hark learns of a great number of religions, philosophies, and belief systems, all beautiful and strange in their own ways. He spends club meetings full of discussions and debates comparing and contrasting faiths and their messages. These discussions often carry on once meetings are over with his fellow first-years Shuvadri Glintmantle and Melwythorne, whom he comes to consider as friends. Melwythorne the dryad spent his whole life in his grove with his family, and as such has grown somewhat homesick, but Hark’s friendly presence and clever wit are helping him to adjust. Shuvadri also appreciates Hark’s good nature and strong intellect, though her fondness is sometimes hard to register considering her calm, cool, and collected demeanor. When he is not studying or participating in club meetings, Hark works at the Strixhaven Stadium as a jack-of-all-trades, usually filling in for whatever management needs during games and performances to keep everything running smoothly. While working there, he forms an unlikely friendship with Greta Gorunn and Aurora Luna Wynterstarr. Despite being wildly different from one another, they all get along extremely well and often hang out after events at the Stadium, sharing a meal at the Bow's End (cooked special by Jedavii, if he happens to be working) and discussing their homes, passions, and school experiences. Greta is determined to put some muscle on Hark’s bones and Aurora is insistent that Hark becomes her manager once she makes it big as a musician; thankfully for him, the wizard is quite adept at handling two of the biggest personalities of the freshman class.
Despite your crazy schedules, you can always count on seeing your friends in Magical Physiologies class. Held in one of the Biblioplex’s many lecture halls, the course covers the anatomy, abilities, and dispositions of monsters commonly encountered while adventuring. Here, you’ll read popular accounts related to Aberrations, Monstrosities, and Oozes, as well as studying how best to either avoid a fight with such creatures or battle them and emerge triumphant. The class’s professor is the dryad Verelda Lang, a respected arcano-biologist who teaches Quandrix College courses in addition to her Witherbloom College and general education offerings. It’s your last class of the day, and you can tell everyone, even Professor Lang, is itching to get out.
"And of course, keep in mind that 'salad' is not aproper pronunciation and is frowned upon in any academic context,” Professor Lang says, looking up to the glimmering arcane clock mounted on the wall. “Alright, I’ve got a meeting with Dean Valentin at 2:30, so I’m letting you all out a little early today. Happy Friday from your favorite professor. When we come back on Monday, we will wrap up our unit on Slaadi and begin review for the exam for next Friday. Please direct any additional questions to my inbox in the Faculty Office since I can’t stick around today. Class is dismissed, have a good weekend everyone.”
With that, you all pack up your things and head out into the Biblioplex proper. It turns out all of you don’t have any obligations later, so this is finally an opportunity to hang out as a group for the first time in a while.
Jedavii exits the lecture hall. He dared not make a comment while Professor Lang was still around, but as he sits down on the bench just outside he can’t seem to help himself. Something bubbles to the surface.
”…potato slaad.” he snorts, then chuckles loudly.
He spots some of the others and waves them over. “Hey guys! How’re you all doing? Thinking of stopping by the tavern later tonight - anyone want in? Tab’ll be on me.”
Marius is the first to join him, the half-elf's clothes shifting from his uniform to the tunic and pants he favors as casual attire. "I'm actually free, since Quent had obligations today so there's so rehearsal. I'd love to come, though you don't have to pay!"
"Sounds good," agrees Canon as he joins the pair. He'd avoided the tavern at first, and it had taken some convincing by his friends that bar fights were the exception, not an expected part of the evening's entertainment, before he could be dragged along. Discovering that night that the tavern often offers live music, he has been back many times, and can often be found watching the performances with rapt attention, and nursing a very fruity cocktail, from which he now has a small but growing collection of tiny paper umbrellas.
"Aurora said she might be performing tonight. She had to cancel our session to be on standby, since the Lizard Wizards might not make it in time—something about a dimension door opening on the wrong dimension."
"I was going to put in some extra time studying for next weeks exams..." Robin says hesitantly. She is clearly torn between the two, extra study time so she is really really ready for the exams, or time spent with her friends. "I suppose I can just stay up late tonight, again, and do the studying then. Count me in." She grins as she moves to join the others.
"You have a good point, Robin," Marius says. "I'll probably be up late tonight too." He thinks of something, and starts laughing. "At least it's not tech week yet!"
"I could help if you want. It's Friday, so no classes tomorrow." the gith offers. "But hey, that's tonight; let's do something now~ maybe exploring somewhere?"
"I'm up for it, as long as we don't go somewhere dangerous. Professor Austine would kill me if I got hurt!" Marius laughs, but with a note of actual warning in it.
You all head out of the Biblioplex and into Central Campus. It's another lovely day at Strixhaven; cool temperatures, sunny skies, just the right amount of fluffy clouds. Central Campus is bustling now that the school year is in full swing, with students of all ages rushing to class, trying to catch the shuttle to one of the satellite campuses, playing games, practicing spells, and more. you all hear a somewhat familiar giggle... but Robin recognizes it immediately, and seconds later she feels Rosie Wuzfeddlims's hands wrapped around her arm. "Ha! Caught you in an ambush! You're lucky we're not playing today, or I'd have eaten you!" The gnome giggles. "Hey Robin, hey trunk-slayers! You’ve all got to see this! We found these weird frogs and snuck them into the Fireside Lounge at Firejolt Café, and now we’re going to race the little hoppers! Quick! Come see before the professors find out!”
"Oh! It's considered very good luck to see a frog in the northern mountains. The red and yellow mountain frog is surprisingly well camouflaged for its bright colouring, but can often be found burrowing in the leaf litter in the forests of the Mistake Mountains." Canon is excited to see these weird frogs.

Jedavii shrugs. "Just a trunk now."
He offers the remains to Hark if he wants it, otherwise he finds a place to discard the remains of the trunk.
