"Good try Herman." Robin says, walking away from the frogs and back over to Mina. Robin shrugs to her co-worker. "Not a huge frog fan I guess, but it was sort of cool that Herman hopped so good." She pats Rosie's shoulder. "You probably got the monster frog, and he was going to try and eat the bystanders instead of racing." Robin figured that would make Rosie smile, as it references the gnomes love for playing the monster side of her LARP game. "The frog was clearly not meant for racing but for monster things instead."
Jedavii cradles the small orange frog happily, patting the frog. "Aww, he's all tuckered out~ It's alright, Kiwi, you did great. You'll always be the best frog to me!"
Holding the frog and adjusting his top hat, the gith moves to his competitors with a happy smile.
"Really great stuff, Java! Congrats! And well played to you two as well, Robin and Rosie. That was super cool. We should do this on the regular - maybe not in the cafe, but somewhere outside possibly. Ooohhh, I'd love that!"
Rosie looks a little down until Robin comes around to give her a boost. "Oh, you're totally right! If I hadn't intervened, who knows what could have happened!" She exclaims, looking up to Robin with a smile. She gives Robin a playful bump. "Thanks, Robin."
"Thanks, Jeda! A Strixhaven intramural frog racing league, eh? Doesn't sound like a bad idea," Javenesh says.
"I'm so glad no one is hurting each other..." Drazhomir breathes a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, Croakula belches right in Rosie's face. In fact, Kiwi, Blue, and Herman are also belching. Almost rhythmically. As they do so, their eyes grow a bright crimson color. Rosie drops Croakula reflexively, and as the frog hits the floor, it seems to grow in size - as do the other frogs! The surrounding students panic and try to flee the scene. The four docile, bright frogs just a moment ago have now transformed into large, raging beasts. They tear apart their costumes and shift their glowing red eyes on all of you - it looks like you're next!

"I guess I spoke too soon," Canon steps protectively in front of his friend, toward the nearest frog. His cloak rises as if blown by an unseen wind [bonus action: cloak of billowing] as he draws his axe and swings at the amphibian.
Having half-overheard Robin and Rosie saying something about the frogs turning into monsters, he calls to them, "What did you two do‽"
[Reaction planning:
If a frog presents an attack of opportunity, Canon will take it. Or, if one of the frogs makes a successful attack roll against any of the NPC students, Canon will cast silvery barbs as a reaction to impose disadvantage on that roll, and grant advantage to Robin's next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.

Jedavii trembles a bit. He remembers the good times that Kiwi and he had together. The gith cheering on his friend, the frog eagerly hopping along until he can hop no more. Cue the sad flashback cutscene with the sad music.

Jedavii picks up a sandwich from a nearby table and puts it on the end of his hammer, then holds it out. "H-hey. Kiwi, remember me? It's Jedavii, your friend! I got you a sandwich since you must be hungry after the race! Maybe calm down a bit? You can still be big, just less angry please - I'll get you a new top hat and everything!"

Canon swings and misses! He prepares to cast in the event one of the frogs lashes out.
(OOC: Animal handling is what's required, but I've got to give it to you for the natural 20 on persuasion haha) Kiwi catches sight of the sandwich and snaps their tongue out at it, yanking it out of Jedavii's hand from a distance. It eagerly devours the sandwich... and for whatever reason, the creature calms down. Kiwi the big red frog just sits in the corner chomping on the sandwich.
It is now the frog's turn!
While Kiwi is content to chill out in the corner, the same cannot be said for Herman, Blue, and Croakula. After missing his swing at Croakula, Canon finds himself on the receiving end of a bite! Herman turns around and takes a bite at Robin. Meanwhile, Blue was also going for Jedavii's sandwich, but Kiwi stole it before they could get it. In anger, Blue lashes out at Jedavii.

Canon dodges out of the way of Croakula's savage bite. Jedavii just manages to snap his hand away from Blue's jaws. Robin is about to be hit, but Canon's silvery spell distracts Herman and gives Robin a measure of encouragement.
It is now Robin's turn! Robin has advantage on the next attack roll, saving throw, or ability check she makes.
"Oh Herman, what has gotten into you?" Robin says, in a kind voice to the giant frog. She holds out her hand in a calming manner, trying to get the frog to calm down...

Marius mutters a word and dots on his shoulders and forearms flare bright purple-blue briefly. He adopts his 'stage manager voice' and turns to the crowd, his voice magically enhanced to be heard. "Everyone, calm down and file out orderly please. Panicking will only lead to injuries."

Seeing his friends pacify the enlarged frogs without resorting to violence, Canon looks embarrassed to have immediately reached for his axe. I guess I'm not so different from the rest of the clan after all. I'll have to work on that.
"I'm sorry, uh, Croakula. You startled me there. Look, I'm putting it down," he says placatingly to the frog as he gently lowers his axe to the floor. "See, it's ok…"
Jedavii looks around for another sandwich. It worked for Kiwi, so...
Once he finds it ("Sorry Mina, I'll pay for them later!"), he'll present it to Blue. "Hey Blue! Java's super proud of you - you won the race and everything! He'll be upset if you go around hurting everyone; have a snack to celebrate your win!"

Sensing this won’t be enough, Jedavii places himself closer to the two frogs, hoping to draw their attacks.

Marius manages to calm the crowd; no one is being trampled or hurt as they leave the cafe, though some are frozen in terror as you all battle the beasts before their very eyes.
Blue and Croakula are not calmed by Jedavii and Canon's words, try though they might! They look poised to pounce...
It is the frogs' turn!
Blue lashes out at Jedavii and Croakula tries to take a chomp of out of Canon!
Jedavii experiences a sharp pain as Blue does bite at the sandwich, but also clamps his forearm in their jaws! Canon, too, gets their hand trapped in Croakula's surprisingly powerful bite-grip! OOC:Jedavii and Canon are both grappled and restrained, DC 11 to escape!
Robin casts bless on those trying to calm down the frogs. She pats Herman's head, keeping him from joining the still-angry frogs. (OOC: Bless on those in combat with the frogs, plus whomever is calming the crowd. I know it doens't work on ability checks, but still it is the best she has at this point in time...)
(OOC: We'll say for the purposes of this that Canon, Marius, and Jedavii are all blessed! Add a d4 to your saving throws and attack rolls for as long as Robin maintains concentration.)

As the frog's teeth pierce Canon's skin, he has just time enough to think Wait, do frogs even have teeth? before the pain drives all such thoughts—and his nonviolent intentions—from his mind, and his training once again takes hold [bonus action: rage].
With only a small grunt of effort, he pulls his trapped hand, not out as the creature might be expecting, but down, attempting to drag it to the ground by its own jaw.
[What I'm hoping to do here is knock the frog prone, and use the weight of ~8ft of muscular goliath plus it's grapple on me to prevent it getting back up, at least without releasing the grapple first. I'm not sure that's entirely supported by rules-as-written, but maybe with a good enough athletics check…]

Marius seems to successfully soothe the raging frog right as Jedavii pulls his arm free from Blue's mouth. Meanwhile, Canon flips Croakula onto its back and pins it down - quite the comical situation, as both of them are now grappled by the other.
Since Blue has been pacified along with the others, only Croakula still maintains their rage. However, seeing as their jaws are occupied being locked around Canon's arm, they attempt to instead wriggle out of Canon's grapple.
