(( Whistler's Survival Checks for food: 12181978515 ))
So far, there hadn't been much time to get to know the newcomers, but Whistler had been hopeful. Both Aranea and Azaka were easy enough to work with, and if the party could handle a couple of warforged, a bard and a cleric should eventually fit in easily enough.
It was the very first night after traveling together when the bounty hunter decided to try his hand at a bit of nighttime practice. Setting up a few targets just in eyeshot of the campsight, he fell to his usual routine of launching darts and daggers with experienced precision. And of course, he kept an eye on his surroundings as he did, checking things out both from where he threw, and where his projectiles landed. The lizardfolk had already put him a bit on edge, and he did NOT want a repeat of outsiders sneaking into camp.
Case has been quiet since the fight in the middle of the night, barely even registered the arrival of the newcomers. He had been completely useless in battle, missing with his attacks. On top of this, he was restrained by magic. Perhaps he was not as prepared for stopping an apocalypse as he had believed. Or maybe, time had simply been too unkind to him and he was no longer functioning as well as he thought.
However, Case was still determined to help his allies in whatever manner they felt he could be of best use.
Gear is happy to have another moral figure on the team. He personally agreed that killing was a last resort, though the jungle presents that decision multiple times a day… hunting and fishing and even where you place your foot, one is surrounded by death.
after the first day of travel as a larger group, Gear didn’t notice, but he was getting sloppier about his worrying ways. His mind floated off to wondering which of their patron’s items he wanted, and what magical places they would encounter… his rigidity was slipping, and it felt liberating.
as they prepped for camp, he walked about the edge of the camp, observing which direction the sun would rise, hoping to enjoy the transition to dark then light again: he looked into the jungle and rested his soul.
survival 16
Both Warforged walked around and around 30 ft away from the camp they spotted a humanoid figure on the ground. Fortunately for both of them the moon was providing enough light to provide enough information from a safe location.
You can see the corpse of a Tabaxi with every limb unnaturally extended, it was clearly positioned in that way by another creature.
Upon closer inspection
its limbs and head were severed from its torso and crudely stitched back on in the wrong arrangement. The top of a bottle shines through the belt of the Tabaxi, You can't see the interior of the bottle. (Small glass bottle)
Gear backs away from the body 20ft and sits on the ground. He casts minor illusion over his space to make himself look like a rock, then sends a message privately to Whistler :
“there’s something happening here; what it is, ain’t exactly clear.”
he then begins to cast guidance on himself while whispering in prayer, “May the gears of time guide us, May the tears of time bind us.”
As the newly formed crew spent its first day traveling together, Arabelle remained uncharacteristically quiet. She knew very little of her newfound party and spent most of the day quietly observing each member. If one was to catch Arabelle staring at them, she would return a warm smile. As each day came to a close and the crew began to set up camp, Arabelle would pull out her mess kit and make a simple yet hearty stew for her party using any wild game and herbs the party had collected along their travels. She offered a bowl of stew to each member with a smile.

The bounty hunter cocked his head as he heard the message. Was that?... yes, it seemed to be in Gear's voice. Walking towards the outskirts of the camp, Whistler began looking around for the warforged, more curious than concerned.
"Case? That you? You ain't happen ta see Gear 'round nearby have--" The warrior stopped short as he spotted the figure on the ground near Case. "Now, what in tarnation?!" he asked, looking around for anyone else nearby before approaching the tabaxi.
Whistler will check over the body for any info he can glean. Whichever rolls apply:
((Every survival roll above 10 will aquire you ration for 1 day))
It was easy to determine that the corpse have been laying for several days in the ground, the small was a big indicator but also the fact that several bones were cleaned of flesh (mostly in the chest and head area) his arms and legs were almost intact as they only seemed to be chewed a couple of times. a closer inspection revealed that the right arm was sewn on the left side and his left arm on the right side of the chest, same thing ocurred with his legs.
he was not carrying any weapons, but had a couple of bottles tied to his belt.
Randal offers his shovel for the burial, but does not offer to help in the digging. Instead, he takes from his pack a hand held oval-shaped frame drum, and a pouch of bone dice. The membrane of the drum-head has various symbols painted on it, and the dice sides too have symbols instead of numbers. Setting the dice on the drum, he starts to play calmly, making the dice jump slightly to the beat. He also mutters silently, a repeating string of words you'd really need to come listen closely to hear. He sits facing the burial, so best you can guess it's some sort of funeral service.
As the motley group of strangers gets going, Randal starts telling about his reasons for being in Chult: studying the various ruins, and perhaps meeting some local tribes to learn of their rituals, particularly those dealing with spirits. He will then realize to ask the others of their reasons for travelling here, too. As that conversation slows down, he starts keeping a closer watch of their surroundings. Having travelled a lot, he knows the importance of saving rations by hunting on the way, even if he isn't the best at it.
Survival rolls: 17320104518
After the camp is set, Randal is preparing to go to sleep when he hears the commotion starting outside the camp. He wanders closer, and pales slightly seeing the body. "What is it with this jungle and corpses just being left everywhere? I don't think I had ever seen a body I didn't see die before coming here", he wonders. A moment later he adds: "Shall I get my shovel, or are you still studying it?"
(( OOC: @Laurender - I've been trying to give Whistler a rather thick southern US accent. If you have trouble understanding him, I'll just have him speak in an easier-to-read manner. ))
(( Don't worry about it. I'm pretty advanced with English, just sometimes face a word I don't know. Google usually helps, but I guess there just is no term for that bow. ))
Whistler carefully examined the two bottles. "I don't s'pose nunna ya'll know 'Identify,' or mebbe 'Detect Magic?'" he asked Case.
(( Perception Check?:18 ))
I assume you are positioned about 5 ft from the body. You pay attention to the surroundings and can't get to hear or see anything near out of the ordinary it would be safe to assume that whatever left the body here is long gone, noticing that gives you confidence to retrieve the bottle (if you are interested in doing so)

Survival rolls (Azaka) 21817812174
After setting everything up in the camp, Azaka gets near Arabelle and takes a bowl of stew - "It seems you are taking too much to heart this whole situation of people dying here, I can assure you those won't be the last and we won't have time to bury every single corpse that we find. As a guide I feel responsible of letting you know this beforehand, this is a place you can't relax for long and feeling safe at any time will be a big mistake - Slurps the bowl completely - don't take me wrong, I appreciate the efforts but I've seen that be cause of demise of many in the past. Being safe and smart will allow you to help others, here in the jungle we just remember those who got to leave sooner"
Whistler retrieves the bottles and examines them again. Shrugging to Case, and with a last (half-annoyed) glance around for Gear, he walks back to the center of camp with them.
Case shakes his head, "No, my powers are not currently magical in nature. They're something else. Although, magic is something that does seem rather interesting."

"So," he began as he walked up to the others in the middle of eating. "Found 'nother body over yonder. Tabaxi, seems he's been dead awhile; but he had these onnim." Holding out the two bottles, Whistler waited for a response; he was hoping he wouldn't have to taste them to find out what they were.
Gear is pretty sure minor illusion wouldn’t protect him from an accidental explosion, but just in case, he scoots over toward whistler and casts guidance on him “May Tyr guide your investigation,” then backs up 20ft and recasts minor illusion, this time as a 5ft tall shrub he squats behind.
he is curious, but more careful than curious, as their mission is deeper in the junglez

Arabelle responds to Azaka's statement, "This one does not mean to set the precedence of burying every corpse we come across. But those we did bury were this one's friends. We all came here in search of the cause of the death curse and its potential cure. They were all good people and deserved proper burials." The firbolg ladles another scoop of stew into Azaka's bowl, "Eat and return your energy, you will need it. This one does not wish to bury any more friends."
If anyone is proficient with Arcana they could do a check to see if they can recognize the content in the bottle.
The night falls and its hard to say that nothing mischivous or eerie surrounded the camp, noises where a common thing and now well within the jungle these came from all sorts of places.
The next couple of days went by with not much issue, the group was getting used to the wetness and heat of Chult and Azaka always seemed to find a way to avoid confrontations with big animals or other group of locals.
Another night came and the firs watch already went by and now the second group is ready to watch over the camp for the next couple of hours.
(Those up on the second watch will need to make a perception roll)
