As you take guard and walk around camp it is very hard to perceive any noises, by now you are very well aware of multiple recurrent sounds in that place, bugs is a common one and it hardly every ceases but now you can't seem to hear any, not mosquitos or crickets, however as time passes by you can sense the smell of corpses, every 5 or so minutes the smell gets more intense.
You don't get to hear any moaning or sounds of creatures getting closer, but the eventual foliage rustling with the wind.
"Well, that ain't right," Whistler thought to himself with a frown. No noise and a smell didn't exactly mean imminent danger, but still... "Betta safe than sorry."
"Gear. Case." The bounty hunter figured it would be best to alert them first. Not only did they not really sleep, but if there actually was nothing, they'd not get irritated with him. Probably.
"I don't know if ya'll can smell that, but something reeks, and their ain't no sounds... not even bugs. S'not right; would you two help me scout the perimeter? The more light and eyes the better, seein' as I didn't see anything m'self."
The fighter took a few torches from his backpack, and quickly lit the ends in the still-hot ashes of their extinguished campfire. He handed them to the warforged before taking the lead toward the foliage surrounding their site.

You can see where the stick lands illuminating mostly rocks covered with moss, bushes and trees with vines hanging from them.

investigation 20
You could've swore that it wasn't as overgrown as it is right now so you walked to retrieve the shinning stick but on your way there you notice from a distance that shadows projected from vines where moving as if they were slowly sliding in front of the stick. You followed with your sight the vine's direction and noticed a corpse of a small humanoid being dragged at the end of said vine.
On this state of awareness you start turning to every direction and notice more vines moving around the camp (around 15 ft from it) besides whole corpses these vines were dragging random parts of different bodies (including animals) some of them didn't even seem to match each other.
(( Presuming Whistler sees the same thing Gear does.... ))
"The tabaxi!"
Whistler quickly turned back toward the camp. "Errybody UP!"he yelled, "We got killa vines on the attack!"
Moving with efficiency, the bounty hunter flung the torch meant for Gear toward the embers of the campfire, using his power to ensure it struck true--they'd need visibility if they were going to survive this. The flame rekindled the dying fire, and Whistler immediately turned back to check on his companion, drawing his shortsword in preparation for trouble.
ACTION: Whistler will use Telekinetic Movement to move the extra torch to the campfire. BONUS: Focus to recover one psionic die FREE: Draw his shortsword
By now is pretty clear that you are being surrounded by moving vines which slowly crush the corpses they carry to absorb them (you can assume this after noticing several pieces of garment laying on the ground) Whistler's torch reached the campfire and the flames were succesfully reignited, the increase in light and heat will be enough to wake up anyone who rolls more than a 11 in perception (If passive perception is 11 or higher there's no need to roll) the campfire reveals that there are about 10 ft free of moving vines around the campsite. ((Whistler's shout decreased the DC of waking up since he and the warforged were walking around the campsite)
All roll initiative (those who can't wake up from the previous roll will be able to roll every turn unless someone else does something to wake you up)
Vines dragging a halfling torso 13 Vines dragging a small dinosaur head and wings of another creature 16 Vines with dried blood and stronger/heavier vines 13
Azaka's Passive perception is 15 - She wakes up after sensing the brighter light from the campfire and assumes something is not Ok. 4 (Initiative)
Case takes hold of one of the torches and accompanies Whistler and Gear. However, he takes up the rear and watches as the other two begin to investigate, leaving them to the task.
He then watches as the vines move around them carrying corpses and crushing them for sustenance.
"What manner of vegetation is this?"

As Randal wakes to the shouts and increase in light, his hands find themselves around his crystal ball almost instantly. A quick whisper and a small rubbing of its surface causes the smoke within to seemingly come alive as he rises to his feet, ready for whatever's out there.
Starting up with Arabelle - You hear Whistler's alert and quickly spot several vines coming up to the camp, several corpses and pieces of bodies are being dragged and absorbed by them as they move.

Arabelle awakens to the commotion and heeds Whistler's alert. Being ambushed was not a new event for Arabelle, especially after entering these woods. The firbolg quickly checks on Randal and is relieved to see that he is safe and awake.
The firbolg takes her staff and slams one end into the ground. A small patch of flowers bloom where the staff strikes and a tendril of water coils upwards from the ground. The water tendril swirls around the firbolg's staff before splitting off into two droplets of water that floats in the air, each mass about 4 inches in diameter. One water droplet stays and orbits around Arabelle while the other floats to Randal's side and proceeds to do the same. While the other parties may not be aware of what Arabelle is doing, Randal has seen the firbolg do this before and knows that the water droplets serve as a great boon.
Arabelle then chants a quick spell (Spiritual Weapon) and waves a hand towards the closest vine. A wooden branch erupts from the ground and hovers in the air, one of its ends is sharpened into a spear point. The spear is adorned with vines and flowers as spectral butterflies flitter around it. The spear then jabs at the vine makes an attack against it.
Action: Using Emboldening Bond on Arabelle and Randal (represented by the water droplets)
Bonus Action: Casting Spiritual Weapon on nearest vine and attacking it. Attack: 10 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. (edit: forgot to add a d4 due to Emboldening Bond for attack roll: 2) (edit 2: rerolling damage due to error above: 10)
Emboldening Bond Info:
As an action, you choose up to 2 willing creatures within 30 ft. of you, creating a magical bond among them for 10 minutes or until you use this feature again. While any bonded creature is within 30 ft. of another, once per turn, they can roll a d4 and add it to an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw they make.
The branch pierces through a cluster of vines ((Vine with a dino Skull - VDS)) but it misses to puncture anything deep enough to cause any damage.

Bonus Action: roll Tales from Beyond; 6 = Tale of the Traveler
