[OOC: Dora finds it difficult to sleep tonight being woken a number of times by nearby events that she would normally sleep through, such as the arrival home of the oldest Grane boy as he lets himself in through the back gate. She finally gives up trying to sleep sometime in the morning before sunrise. Perhaps it was the anticipation of her change in duties. Perhaps it was simply because she had already slept soundly earlier in the day. In either case, she is now awake in the predawn. What does she do?]

Wearing light clothes suitable for running, Dora sets out for an early morning run heading east towards the port district. Being somewhat removed from the main thoroughfare, the streets she runs through are quiet and empty and she finds herself being followed, and sometimes preceded, by the sound of barking dogs. Angry shouts from householders berating those barking dogs are also heard; it seems that her early morning exercise is creating something of a stir.
[OOC: Please make a Perception check.]

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The sound of claws on the hard surface of the road alerts Dora and she looks over her shoulder to see a dog running quickly towards her. The dog is a large black hound and it is intent on seeing her off and having a piece of her, if it can.
[OOC: We are now in a combat of sorts. Because Dora heard the dog approaching it doesn't have surprise on her. Please roll Initiative for Dora. The dog's initiative roll follows:

[OOC if Dora gets out of this alive then I reckon she has a strong claim to increased strength and endurance because she actually invests time in physical training.]
I stop running and stand stock still facing the dog with my arms in a defensive position and braced should the dog leap at me, I do not want to be attacked on the ground. I believe that the dog was only chasing me because I was running and so presented as quarry. I take several deep breaths ready to yell my head off should it continue the attack.

[OOC: The way I interpret this in terms of the game's mechanics is that Dora is performing the Dodge manoeuvre, which will make her hard to hit if the dog attacks.
As to whether the dog will attack will be dependent on the next die roll.
Dog's aggression roll: 11
]
It would seem that the dog is out for Dora's blood as it runs up and lunges at her.
[OOC: The following is the dog's attack roll, which is at Disadvantage because Dora is dodging.
Dog's attack:9
]
Despite her attempt at dodging, the dog is able to grab her by the arm. It is a bigger dog and as part of its attack it attempts to drag Dora down to the ground.
[OOC: Dora takes a point of damage and must make a successful Strength saving throw versus a DC of 11 to avoid being dragged down onto the ground. As Dora's class is Fighter, she has proficiency in Strength saving throws, which means she adds +2 to her d20 roll for her Saving throw.]
I yell as loudly as I can for help, while trying to grasp the dogs throat.
[OOC: Before we continue, I would like to remind you that Dora has a Hero Dice; a roll on a d6 that can be added to a d20 roll after the result of the d20 is determined to possibly change the outcome of the roll. I am not necessarily recommending that she use it for her previous saving throw, just reminding you that it is there in case you think Dora needs another chance at a roll. You can find the full rules for this here.
While she can certainly yell for help, the rest of what you are describing is a bit tricky because the dog has its teeth sunk into one of Dora's arms (she is now Grappled according to the rules). According to the rules, to escape the dog's grip would require a successful Athletics or Acrobatics check against an Athletics check by the dog. Escape or not, this would use her Action for her turn, which means she couldn't also attack the dog. However, if she escaped the Grapple, she would be able to use her Move to attempt to run away, but as she has been knocked prone she would only move half her normal distance (i.e., 15') because she needs to stand up first.
She could attempt to grab the dog's throat by wrapping her other arm around its neck like an arm bar in wrestling (applying her own Grapple in effect), but this won't prevent her from taking further damage if the dog continues to bite on her arm. However, once she does have a hold on the dog she can do her own damage to it in later turns by squeezing or using her weight against the dog.
There are also other things she might try instead of the grapple; she does have one hand and her feet free.]

[OOC: I just checked up on something and realised that Dora, while still being Prone is not actually Grappled, which means the dog let go of her arm after it dragged her down. So, forget all about having to break free as I mentioned in the last post. And, if you want, she can actually grapple the dog like you wanted to in the first place. Sorry about that, but to do what the dog did would require it to do two things at once that it can't do.]

Yell for help and don't stop. Look around quickly for house with lights or something I can climb to escape dog. If somewhere I can climb within my range then do it. If not then seek out house with lights within range and run to it yelling and thumping on its door. If both available choose the climb all the time yelling for help.

Arise, go for a run. Nothing extraordinary, no pushing too hard, just a light run and some stretches afterwards.
