In a panic. Bean pleads to the chain. "Please, he is hurt. EXTEND more"
In his panic. Bean will try to say every synonym for extend that he knows. And in every language that he knows. (Common, under common. Gnomish, primordial) "lengthen, reach, bigger, stretch, ect."
The chain stays the same length, seemingly the extent of its length.

Bean looks to torla and Imras. "Lower me down. Ill get him."
Bean will use his action to attact the chain to himself and wait to be lowered.
Ooc: per the written rules DM provided for the chain. I use my action to attach the chain to an object. Im attaching myself to it to help brythel get up. Torla has better str. But itl be better for me to grab and her to hoist.
"An Object" not a person but I will allow it. You wrap 3 feet of the chain around your waist and loop it, giving it a tug to make sure it is secure. You lost 3 feet of chain and you are 4 feet tall. it is wrapped around your waist so you gain 2 feet, so you can reach 39 feet down.
There are a few large rocks around, 2 are nestled inside the dirt wall you are trying to scale. They are a moderate size but look like they are fairly snug into the dirt. There is a large rock that fell to the ground when you did, Its about the size of a basketball.
The DM will remind you Torla, you have a Magic axe that can go 60 feet and will return to your hand.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Hold on, Silver Bean," Torla says as he pulls on the chain to make sure it's secure around his waist. "Let me try something." She walks over to the edge of the crevasse and looks down at Brythel. "Brother Dwarf! I'm going to try something crazy. I'm going to throw my axe at the ground near your feet. It should return to my hand. I want you to grab the handle. Hopefully, the magic will bring you to me as well as the axe if you hold on well enough." She turns and looks at Bean and Imras. "Just in case, let's lower the chain again. Bean, keep your end around your waist and lower the other end. Imras, hold on to Bean. If Brythel can't hold on to the axe all the way up, he might can grab the chain as he's falling." She waits as Bean and Imras lower the loose end of the chain and brace themselves (which I'm hoping they're willing to do). She stands very near where the chain goes over the edge and holds the axe over her head. "Ready Brythel? Here it comes!" She throws the axe to the bottom of the crevasse.
Should I roll to find out if I hit Brythel instead? Maybe that will work as well. If I get it lodged in deep enough, it could just pick him up instead of him having to hold on.
Josiah also stands ready to assist with the chain, although his face is pretty much a blank mask at this point as he ponders all of these new developments with the magical chain and Bean apparently having yet another new passenger in his head.
You dont have to hit brythel for this to work Torla. Brythel the Magical axe comes careening down and digs into the dirt next to you for a few moments before it starts to move.
Brythel you grab hold of the axe and get a ride back to the top of the ravine, the axe spins in the air. spinning you as well.
As soon as you land on the ground, make a constitution saving throw.
Parsed rolls have plagued this campaign long enough, Going forward if your original roll is a parsed rolls. Post again for your second roll.

Brythel you manage to keep your breakfast down but you feel it bubbling up inside of you. After a few seconds your stomach calms.

Torla looks at the crevasse and her new physique and back again. After Imras makes his suggestion, she shakes her head. "The axe won't return to Brythel." She looks at the half-elf. "We found that out on the beach." She looks back at the crevasse and screws up her face in thought. "Bean, I want to try something else. Throw one end of the chain to Tyrvan. I'll take the other end and try to jump across. I'm not sure, but I think these new muscles might be enough to get me over there. But, if I don't make it, hopefully Tyrvan can pull me up." The group does as she suggests. Tyrvan catches the end of the chain thrown to him and holds it as Torla runs and jumps, clearing the crevasse with a few feet to spare and not needing the chain to save her. As she stops, she turns and grins across at the others. "Wow!"
OOC: Imras and Josiah, you guys need to level up!

One second, Imras says to bean. He calls back down to Brythel. are there any rocks large enough that you could stack them up to get higher?
Are there any big rocks like that DM

Tyrvan is not in the ravine, He managed to scramble his way safely to the other side before it gave way and is anxiously watching.

It originally told me it couldn't parse the rolls; that's why I did it a second time. Too bad the first rolls showed up after editing.

OOC: How wide is the crevasse now?
its a little over 15 feet wide, Tyrvan is standing 2 feet from the edge.
Why don't we have Brythel get across first then use the axe to bring the rest of us over?
(Generally in the past when I've had dice rolls fail to parse, editing the post and making some text change somewhere usually gets it to work)
