The curious tiefling will lend help with anyone to search more thoroughly to try to piece together anything. Any notes on the mine? Or where these feywild weak spots might have been found? Tastie ain’t too smart so she’d rely on others to really connect the dots.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
When Elirion is finished her ritual (10 minutes), she will ask what people have found and look around the rooms in the top level, especially the notes, then check the rest of the house following behind the others trying to sense magical auras.
Remi points out the info on the meenlocks, calls everyone in the room to have a look. “That puts a damper on things. I sure don’t want to be turned into one of those smelly bastards. To think that’s where that one wanted to drag me, become one of those creepies?” Remi shivers.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Lanky opens up the door next to him and peers in, seeing nothing but a double bed siting beneath the windows along the far wall, a fireplace occupying one corner, and a window that looks out onto the front yard, he enters. Tastie follows him in and joins Lanky in his search.
They can tell this is the master bedroom. A search of the room yields a pile of crumpled, half-written letters on the fireplace mantelpiece, beseeching other nearby settlements for aid; among them is a completed letter addressed to the mayor of Maerin. This letter is stuffed in an envelope and sealed shut with a bright red wax seal embossed with an ornate snowdrop blossom; sticks of sealing wax in various colors as well as quills, ink, and paper; and the journal of Mayor Lei Duvezin.
The journal chronicles the disaster at the mine and the village’s anguish at so many victims. The mayor recounts the rescue efforts in the following days, and how they had to stop the search due to fears of more cave-ins if they attempted to remove any more of the rubble, even with miners still missing. She writes of villagers going missing in the night, of her helplessness, and of stubbornly staying on, determined to find the missing villagers while Tifra, her wife, and their two children, Tavin and Nia, evacuated to Maerin. The last few pages speak of the mayor’s nightmares, of her creeping fear and waking in the night, soaked in sweat, with lingering screams echoing in her ears.
While Lanky and Tastie are in the master, E'lar says his prayer, but cannot recall anything of these odd creatures. Their name unfortunately does not help. Elirion gets up after finishing her ritual, and after looking around the house, she is not sensing any magical auras.
As you're standing on the upstairs landing you see that all the doors around you, other than the one the creature came out of, are closed. There is a large opening to the South though and Remi heads there to check things out.
Shelves filled with books line the walls of this library, and four wingback chairs sit around a low table in the center of the room. The wide bank of windows in the south wall affords a panoramic view of the dilapidated houses beyond the twisting branches of the tree in the front yard.
As Remi walks to the table to search for answers, several open books lie on the table, with notes scribbled on bits of paper stuck between their pages. The topics include the effects of physical and emotional trauma, nightmares, and mysterious disappearances. Seemingly out of place in comparison to the other topics, a book about the Feywild and its sundry creatures holds a single note, written in a shaky hand. It reads: Could this be the answer?
The note marks a page with an entry on meenlocks, which includes the following information:
Meenlocks are corrupted fey creatures that spontaneously manifest in response to fear in places where the border with the Feywild is thin.
Meenlocks create more of their kind by transforming humanoids through a process of psychic torment that takes hours or days.
Meenlocks live in subterranean nests.
Meenlocks are sensitive to bright light and can sense shadows and darkness.
After reading these notes, Remi looks up and sees through the window that it is now dark outside, night has arrived.
Tastie
"Well at least we know more about these smelly rubbish bin monsters. Sleeping may be an issue, but as long as we're o guard we should be okay. Wow, the sun went down fast! Well they say time flies by when you're having fun!"
"It felt like that one meenlock who got the drop on me was planning to go for the window. If we're to set up for the night, we might want to get this place boarded up so it's harder for us to get dragged off in the middle of the night,"Gabin offers.
(Are you attempting to also bar the interior doors that you have yet to open, or are you going to finish the investigation of the house? If you are, please tell me which room and such as you go.)
“I uh would not want to sleep here. There is at least one more of those monsters, right Tastie? You heard something call out to you, do you know where?”
Elirion paces around the explored areas of the upper story looking for auras, then says to Lanky, "This place is surrounded by open space, and we've cleared a lot of it. We should do as E'lar suggests and check the other rooms, then pick a good one to rest in."
She rubs her temples as she continues to centrate, but waits for E'lar -- or someone else -- to start a more methodical search.
@DM: I think, with a 30' range, this means that there is nothing in or near the house that is magical (unless behind lead/steel etc) (( other than the ring we found and whatever everyone else owns))
Tastie opens and goes through the SE closed door in the upstairs level and sees that it is empty except for a bed and a fireplace. This room is cold and has an air of loneliness about it.
E'lar sees Tastie go through the SE doorway, so he opens the NE door and checks out that room. This bedroom has a tall chest of drawers made of dark wood in the corner across from the door. Farther into the room, a small desk sits between two windows, with a large bed to the left of it. The sheets and blankets on the bed are rumpled. One moth-eaten pillow lies on the floor beside it, the other on the mattress where it belongs.
As for the downstairs, it really hasn't been looked at very closely...
Seeing the bed, she runs and jumps on it. “Woohoo! I call this one!” she exclaims with glee, jumping up and down on it and laying down for a second. “Wait, should we check downstairs to make sure no disgusting slime balls are hiding on us?”
“Don’t be too hard on yourself, okay?” Lanky opens the door to his left and peers in before searching the room.

“Agreed. I think it would be best to do our investigation during the daytime.” Remi looks for furniture to barricade the doors and windows.
