Gabin - “Why thank you sir.” And Lukas takes the coin and hands you the water you requested.
Lanky - Lukas looks at your letter and starts frowning. “I have no idea where this came from or why they sent you to me. Yes, I know about Vermeillon, shoot I’m from there!”
Remi - Lukas happily gets down his bottle of whiskey for you and pours you a healthy one to go with the stew he has for you. As Remi starts barraging him with questions, he looks straight at him, “Why how would I know? I’ve been in this spot with my little piece of heaven here for 37 years. I am not about to mess with it and I sure didn’t ask for all of you to come asking questions! Glad to serve you some of my stew, but I don’t know anything about the letters.”
Lukas turns to Elirion, “You want to know about Vermeillon? Why in God’s name would you want to know about that forsaken place? I’m from there, I can tell you that. Grew up in that small village near the mine, had a decent childhood from what I can remember. I had a wife… she, she died and so I left. I couldn’t be there any longer.”
She does a quick twirl and says to Gabin, “My father called me a tiefling, but you can call me Awesome. Or Tastie, if that’s thing.” She laughs and says to Lukas, “Um, no stew for me. So tell us about the mine. This happened a long time ago right? I mean, you’re pretty old so do you remember anything about it?”
She nods in empathy with Remi, “Looks like you had a bit of an accident there. You know, you shouldn’t play with knives and sharp things if you’re going to cut yourself.”
Elirion looks at the man for a moment, and her eyes flicker to the others, wondering why they came if the man was unknown to them. She takes a small sip of her brandy before answering. "Such things, if left unattended, have a habit of growing and spreading. The longer they are left, the harder they are to deal with. Believe me, I have seen such things before."
"Do you think it will be long before whatever it was spreads here? Perhaps not in your life time but in your children's." Human lives are so short, they rarely consider the future.
Again her eyes scan the others before fixing on Lukas, her head slightly tilted, "Then there are the souls of those that were lost. Have they been laid to rest? Is no-one in this town concerned?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“Who would suggest to have us seek you out, in this town, about this problem if you know nothing about it? Do you recognize this handwriting? Or know of anyone who would suggest to all of us apparently (he looks around at the 5 others) that we should meet with you?” Remi pauses, chewing. “Damn good stew by the way. I guess this trip wasn’t totally wasted.”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Lanky turns to Lucas in a changed demeanour when he talks about the spirits. “Tell me about Vermillion and those spirits that haunt the place. I want to know about the spirits and how they been tormenting that town. How many more will have to dissapear before you do something sbout it? I will make sure no spirit will haunt anybody else again. I will destroy them myself if I have to.”
Lanky turns to Eliron “Don’t worry about the damned, I will put them to rest myself. I will make sure none of the spirits will haunt, kill or kidnap anybody else as long as I am still alive. I am going to utterly destroy every spirit I’ve come across.”

Lanky turns to Eliron “Don’t worry about the damned, I will put them to rest myself. I will make sure none of the spirits will haunt, kill or kidnap anybody else as long as I am still alive. I am going to utterly destroy every spirit I’ve come across.”
Tastie
To Lanky "Whoa! You sure don't like spirits, huh? Did a mean spirit make fun of you? Who hurt you? Wait! What if the come across your mom's spirit and she's all like, 'Oh sweetie bear, how you've grown up' and then maybe your dad's spirit comes too and is like, 'Whoa what a big bug and bear you've become, just like me!' and stuff like that? Will you also utterly destroy them or would you be like, 'Thanks guys!' ?"
To Lukas... "But seriously...why would anyone want us to talk to you about this town? Wait! Did any," looks sideways at Lanky, "mean spirits come to tell you about us?" Tastie raises her arms and waves and flutters them, "Ooooh, ooooh, you will be visited by a really cool tiefling and 4 other edgy and mysterious people...Ooooh, pretend you know nothing about anything, ahhhhhh!" She waits for his answer, being dead serious.
She does a quick twirl and says to Gabin, “My father called me a tiefling, but you can call me Awesome. Or Tastie, if that’s thing.”
Gabin, hesitantly poking around at the chunks of fish in the stew, pauses to say, "Well it's a pleasure to meet you, Tastie. My name's Gabin Selstrop, of the Order of Torm. Well, kind of." He mutters the last sentence as he brushes off his hand on his trousers and offers it for a shake.
While initially planning to hold back his questions and wait to see how things played out with the others, he notices Lukas becoming visibly distressed at the onslaught of uncomfortable questions. Pushing aside his untouched stew, he stands up and puts out his hands to try to quell the questioning before turning to Lukas.
"Listen, Lukas. We thank you for your hospitality so far, and I'm sure we didn't mean to come in here and attack you with an inquisition at your business," he turns and casts a meaningful look at the others. "But I am glad to find you here. I had heard by some accounts that there were no survivors of the tragedy that took place. I recognize we are asking you to recall a painful part of your past, and that can't be easy. I truly sympathize for your loss, both of your wife and your home."Gabin places one hand over his heart and the other on Lukas' shoulder to convey his sincerity, his dark-streaked golden eyes glinting in the firelight.
"But, my... friends here are right. There has been a darkness in Vermeillon. A great wrong has taken place. I don't know the nature of it, but I for one am here to right it. Both for those who were lost and for those, like you, who still remain. Anything you can tell us could be of use. Please."
“Buh buh but I…I had to leave! My wife had died and everything around the place reminded me of her! Yes, I have heard of the stories of Vermeillon, though it has been some time since anyone has brought it up. I left before anything strange had started to happen.” He looks Elirion in the eyes, “As for spreading? Oh man, whatever is up in those mountains can stay up in those mountains and I’ll be dead before anything reaches down here.” He says this confidently, but you can see in his eyes you’ve all shaken him up quite a bit.
Tastie - “No, trust me, if anyone told me I was going to be barraged by a strange group about Vermeillon today, I would have taken the day off!
Lanky - “If you can take care of whatever is up there, not only would I be obliged, but so would Astra the florist in the market. I believe she is from Vermeillon too. As for spirits though? I do not know what it is that is plaguing the town, could be.”
Remi - You watch as he responds the best way he can to your new friends and it appears that he means everything he says and is truly shaken by recounting the events.
Gabin - He looks at you with appreciation and says, “If you do head up there, would you all do me a favor? Put some flowers on my wife’s grave? Would put a little ease on my soul. Also, if you happen upon it, there is a tree in the middle of town with a hollow. In that hollow is an old necklace of my wife’s. Mean a great deal if you could bring it back to me.”
“I truly don’t know why someone sent you to find me, other than to try my stew,” he attempts at a chuckle, seemingly trying to get back to a lighter mood. “Other than what I’ve told you, I don’t know what else to say. There is a trail that leads North of here up the mountain, but man, I don’t know how much of a trail it is now that it is never used. About a 2-3 day hike up to Vermeillon if that is what you mean to do. I uh, better go check on my stew. Landee here can check on you if you need anything else.” He gestures to the kid who has been hanging out at the edge of the bar and then disappears back into the kitchen.
Lanky glowers at Tastie. "No I do NOT like spirits. You think that sprits would only stop at making fun? As if, they will torment those for any reason, even if the reason is petty. They take over your loved ones and kill them in front of you just for a laugh. You don't know of anything that I have seen or faced against those spirits and I will do anything I can to eradicate them. I do NOT care if they are friendly or if they used to be my parents, because as long as they keep existing they WILL torment those around them."
"Um..." Lanky shifts uncomfortably. "Er I don't mean personality. I mean ghosts and stuff. Though um...a good spirit would be some good booze? Right? Heh..um sorry that was a bad joke."
To Lukas Gabin says, "Thank you, you've given us plenty. And I'll see what I can do about those flowers and your wife's necklace." There had been a tension and discomfort in Gabin's demeanor up to this point, but it seems to fade as he eases into a more comfortable composure.
Turning to the others he says, "Full disclosure, I didn't receive a letter like many of you have. I was drawn here by a different means. Nevertheless, I would like to accompany any of you who intend to brave the road to Vermeillon, may we find safety in numbers. And you know what... Landee was it? Fetch me a whisky if you would!"
Landee looks up happy to have something to do after all the discussion and grabs a glass. As he pours the whiskey for the Aasimar, he says, “You’ll like this one, it’s the boss’s favorite.” And slides the glass over.
With a confidence and gravitas that he hasn't displayed until this point, Gabin says "An honour to meet you, E'lar," before pounding back his glass.
He immediately spits the drink out over the bar, soaking Landee, and doubles over coughing. "Hckk!... What in the hells is that? It... *cough* It's burning my throat,"he gasps hoarsely as his eyes water.
Gabin straightens up slowly, wiping his lips, and notes Elirion drinking her brandy without issue. Then he spots the poor soaked bar lad. "I'm so sorry, I was caught off guard. Is that *cough* what liquor is supposed to taste like? An acquired taste perhaps." Gabin sits back down, thoroughly chagrined, and pokes at his stew again.

The armored elf looks at Elirion as she speaks of corruption spreading and needing to be stamped out, and nods in agreement.
He shifts his position, eyes scanning the room, seemingly somewhat ill at ease here.

The two that were huddled by the fire get up to leave and it is now just the 6 of you and the bartender Landee left in the room. What do you do?
To Lukas Gabin says, "Thank you, you've given us plenty. And I'll see what I can do about those flowers and your wife's necklace." There had been a tension and discomfort in Gabin's demeanor up to this point, but it seems to fade as he eases into a more comfortable composure.
