If everyone is willing, she will go back to the mines and investigate (hopefully with help) what the source might be and how it might be 'closed' or destroyed.
She nods in thought, attempting to say something of value: “I don’t know enough about magic like that. My magic is natural it’s like a feeling. From what we’ve been told about these fey it also seems natural. Meaning blowing up the mine would bury it but they would still remain. We should still have enough gas to clear the remaining creatures in case.”
Remi says to Elirion, “Sure, I’ll accompany you. Let’s finish this and keep any of those things from ever coming back here.” He pauses, looking around at all of them, “Say, you all make a really good crew. I am honored to work with you. Perhaps this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship… and partnership!” Remi’s eyes gleam with excitement and you see the cogs working in his brain as he is looking at each of you and considering, a smile on his face.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
As Gabin stays behind in the town with Landee, the rest of the group head back to the plantinum mines. The entrance of this cave feels very different than when they entered earlier this morning. Much less oppresive, but still a hint there. Not sure why, but could be chalked up to what they all had just experienced and almost succumbed to within.
They head through the mine checking all the nicks and crannys, not finding any more creatures or anything out of the ordinary. When they get to the pool area, it looks to be just how they left it.
Tastie looks into the pool, a little apprehensive that another one of those pudding things might materialize, and with her mind on that she cannot see anything but water.
"The author of that Journal was sure that these were the source." Says Elirion, pulling a large book from her pack. "I'll see if there is any magic here.'
She spends a few minutes casting Detect Magic, then moves around the room looking for any signs of what might have brought the creatures here. If she finds nothing, she will look in as much of the rest of the tunnels as she can.
As Elirion sits and does her ritual, she actually finds a bit of peace in this cave that just hours before held mind tricks and madness. Once finished, she stands up and peers over to the pools. Around the far pool, she notices a distinct aura emanating from it. And as her gaze lingers, she doesn’t know how to explain it but it seems thin there, like the edges of the pool almost disappear. She has confirmed that the journal they found was correct in noting the source of the creatures.
(Yes, if you were to bring the roof down as you put it, it would take care of the thin spot and it would no longer be usable, this is also noted in the journal - appears the person was really doing their research.)
Elirion takes out the devices that were recovered earlier, trying to assess where it might be best to use one, and if both might be needed -- though perhaps the book also mentioned it.
If she feels out of her depth, then perhaps this might be best left to the villagers.
“Hmmm.” Lanky prods at the edge of the pool with his halberd. “Maybe a stragetic collaspe here, block off this section and warn the villagers to not go into this section. That way they could mine and not deal with the creatures. Not that I think mining is a good idea, there might be other pockets.”
With the time that Elirion has had with these devices, she feels confident with Lanky's help to get them properly placed to detonate it so it takes care of the portal to the fey world.
After seeing what had happened earlier when the devices were triggered, Remi reminds them to make sure they have enough distance, being the one that evaded the rubble like he did.
Once ready, the team gives it enough space and triggers it with a large BOOM. The roof of the cavern falls into the pools and completely covers all the pools, including the one at the back. The rubble is kept to just this area and the rest of the caves look fine on their way out to the fresh air.
They return back to Gabin and Landee and the sun is close to setting.
Elirion nods in satisfaction. letting out a long slow breath.
"Another night here, then an early start back, assuming nothing else creeps out of the woodwork or shadows in the mean time."
Her dreams of a quiet life of study died years ago, but dank places like this were not her preferred substitute. With a last glance at the tunnels she heads back to the fresh air and light of the setting sun, wondering what lies ahead for this small band...whether they will all go their separate ways, like so many, or travel together for a time.
You all agree to rest for the night before heading back to Maerin tomorrow. You head back into the mansion and grab a decent spot to rest your head, while the elves of the group rotate to keep watch over all. Landee, a bit wary of Elirion with all the staring and watching she has done to him, keeps his distance and sleeps on the other side of Gabin. (no more exhaustion)
In the morning, things seem brighter, the town, though empty does not hang with the gloom of a ghost town anymore. Almost holds a spirit waiting for new life. It also rejuvenates the rest of you as you make a quick breakfast and get ready for the trek back to Maerin. You give the town another gaze as you all head out, wondering if you'd ever return to this place or hear of it again.
You all head south and as you get going, you are reminded on how the trail is and how difficult it was to get up here. But surprisingly you watch as Landee easily finds his way, scouting through the mountainous areas, finding the trail that you never would have seen. As you ask him about this, he brightens as he responds, "Oh I love hiking! I spend all my free time around Maerin, getting lost and finding my way again. The challenge thrills me and the more difficult the better. Matter of fact, coming up here after you guys was a breeze, you all left quite a trail to follow!"
Elirion nods, "Very well."

(( Sounds like everybody is up for a sweep of mine to identify the likely source, and blow it up if that seems possible ))

She looks around at the cave, wondering if they might be able to bring the roof down, then warn the villiagers not to excavate it.
((@DM: Does she know if blowing it up or bringing the roof of the cave down is likely to have an impact on the "thin" spot? ))
