If any of you check your schedules, you see that it tells you to report to the Hall of Oracles in the Biblioplex on your first day. However, you still have an hour before you have to be there.

Noey frowns upon being told she got up an hour earlier than she needed to. "I guess we might as well do some people-watching, Amb—" she trails off as she notices that Amber has left. "Oh." She looks around for some sort of hot beverage, or a place to get one.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Bryella notices Noey frowning and looking around like she lost something. "Hi! Do you know where we are supposed to be and when? Hope you don't mind me asking." She looks a little embarrassed as she sees others checking their schedules.
"Hey, yeah. You're Bryella. I'm Noey, like 'no' with a long e sound? Right. Yes, in the uh, Hall of Oracles in the... Biblioplex? In an hour." She reads off her own crumpled schedule. Then she shakes it off and smiles widely. "So tell me, what're you in for?"

Nearby stands a sleek structure made of steel and glass. Letters over the doorway read "Firejolt Cafe". In the window next to the door is a sign that reads "Closed."

Looking at the closed cafe, a question occurs to Tulli. “Say, I read in the documents the school sent me students are allowed to get on campus jobs. Are any of you going to do that?”
“Oh!” Noey says. “Yeah, that sounds great, except for the part where it’s work and they pay you in copper.” She walks casually over to the structure, looking it over. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m not at all against work. I just think it should be for fair wages.” Reaching into her bag, she pulls out a little roll of leather. “And while I don’t know in this case, I’ve never known students to get paid anything close to fair wages.” Pulling a couple of small metal tools from it, she stops, thumps her forehead with the palm of her hand, then tries the door handle first.
(OOC > Evil DM presenting the thief with a locked door between her and what she wants.)

The door handle moves, but the door doesn't open.

Noey smiles at Tulli. “I’m sorry, I do believe this door was open when we… found…” She pauses at Tulli’s face. "Aw, come on… mmm… rrr…. guh… oh, fine.” She throws up her hands. “Don’t look at me like that. I just need something to wake me up.” She puts her tools away and turns away from the door.
(OOC > Yeah, Noelani is a bit sheltered/privileged, but clearly pointed at getting her trust fund or whatever revoked… she may end up working for coppers (or gold, I guess) at some point, but thanks to Tulli, that point is not now. Gambler’s fallacy notwithstanding, these could have been the rolls for Stealth 8 and Thieves’ Tools: 20.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Noey twirls to face Amber. “Well, what was I thinking?” She spins the little leather bag and in a flash (SoH: 17)…
…it disappears from her hand, like magic. “Let’s go! Do any of you know about coffee? Is that the right word? We Vedalken drink a lot of it to keep focused… though it doesn’t really work that well for me, but my sister swears by it.”

"Odd as it is that the cafe is closed at this hour, I'm glad you didn't tamper with things. It would have been...inconvenient to be on the wrong side of the owner already.
Coffee sounds like it could be good, but the hour may be a bit early for Bow's End to be open. I hear they cater to the evening crowd; it's popular with bards and performers. But it's not much out of the way, so we can always check. Perhaps there's a cart or the like nearby if they're closed."
Rhydian will follow the others (or lead them if they don't seem to know the way) to the tavern.
Noey is happy to lead, though she has no idea where we’re going. “This way?” she asks Amber. “I’m really perceptive, I’m surprised I didn’t see this place on the way in. Especially since it’s a tavern!”

Amber stops by the bookstore to pick up books for her classes and drop them off at her room before meeting the others at the Hall of Oracles.

Amber feels bad about leaving her new friends behind. She comes back to rejoin them and people watch or whatever.

(OOC the books says people get paid 5 gold a week for work. In general, that's pretty good money.)
"Oh, I know what those were," Tulli said regarding the thieves tools. "But good call on not doing crimes where everyone can see."

Amber says she’s heard good things about the Bow’s End Tavern.

“If we make it quick we should be fine,” said Tulli. “I think I passed that tavern on my way here. It’s not far. I wanna try that ‘coffee’ stuff!”
"In for? Huh, that's a fun way to put it, why I'm in for wherever this place takes me! And right now it's meeting all of you!"
Bryella follows along while they try the cafe, and raises her eyebrow as she watches Noey about to do her thing, but says nothing.
“Coffee sounds great!” Amber says happily.
