The party prepares to enter the warehouse in the late afternoon, Ashe, the 'councilor' representing his business partners Kira, Caelyn and Cyril, guarded by two obvious toughs, Pepper and Pernach. (Q: Will Ashe, Caelyn, Cyril and Kira wear any kind of disguise rather than your traveling clothes? Will this include armor, or not? Weapons? I'd like a simple description from each of these four. Pepper and Pernach can be fully suited up =)
Inquiring about the possibility of renting out a section of the warehouse for working and storing things, the workers grumble a little about not being paid to be tour guides but show you to several areas. The warehouse is mostly open storage with a few smaller, and more secure, rooms. (Specific questions you might want to ask, or info you try to gather as you tour the place? Write out questions or what you're looking for, and make the appropriate skill check (perception, persuade, etc.)
Pepper busies herself counting guards and observing routines. Is there a guard post inside the warehouse, or are they all outside? Are the interior secure rooms guarded? Locked? Are there windows to the warehouse? (Torches inside, Pepper does not have dark vision, would be very noticeable at night through windows.) Are there windows to the secure rooms?
Not sure if I should roll Deception… peering about suspiciously seems appropriate for a bodyguard.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Before their tour Caelyn will make sure she changes clothes. Wearing a simple dress reaching just past her knees, a light fabric blowing in the direction of the wind. Outside the warehouse the wind might blow her dress to the side enough to display the outline of one of her daggers. Strapped to both her thighs underneath her dress with a leather band and sheath wrapping around her leg.
Her dress is plainish, trying to pass of as something the common folk would wear. Her other gear she leaves at the shop, except for her small bag containing the paint and some perfume on top of her thieves tools and a coinbag. Wearing it over a shoulder.
During the tour Caelyn will not focus on the surroundings and guards, instead she mostly walks around with one arm around Cyrils arm posing as the couple. At a stops she will move away towards one of the workers and slip the worker a gold coin. She whispers Thank you for the information thus far.She looks around suspiciously for a small moment making sure the worker sees it. Would you be able to tell us the best locations of the warehouse. We wouldnt want our merchandise next to other.. more shady businesses. My husband would be furious is he found out our medicinal products would be in reach of such villans. She looks to Cyril who is standing a bit further away and smiles. Then looks back to the worker. We try to sell our product without profit to those who need medicine and cant afford healers. Some people want to take advantage of that, not letting everyone share in the resources that we have. she says trying to create a bond with the worker to say we are both on the same side.
We happen to know even Lord Minotivas has things stored here. Im sure thats in the best guarded spot is it not? Would you be so kind as to show us that location, perhaps we will find room to store our product there. Ofcourse we believe good work deserves payment and slips the guard two more coins.
Caelyn will see what happens with this and should we be in a good position to try something with the paintings might act more but lets see how far we get with this first.
Persuasion to ask the worker to show us where Lord Minovatis's stuff is located (having given 3 gp so make sure he is willing): 22
Pepper looks for standard security items - she spots a couple of roaming guards in the warehouse - although it is still business hours and you don't know if this will change at night or not. The interior secure rooms appear to have solid walls, without windows, closed wooden doors with locks, and 15' ceilings that serve as a second-level storage area. There are lanterns throughout the warehouse - they don't want torches which may spark a fire! There are high windows to let in natural light.
Caelyn's performance is very convincing! The guard's eye's widen as gold pieces are exchanged, and he quickly pockets them with a muttered thanks. He shows you the secure rooms, but audibly scoffs at the mention of Minovitas. You discover that the warehouse workers double as guards during the night - the "Lord's" hired guards only brought the cargo here and will only come back when they want to pick it up.
(Everyone give me an Insight and Perception check =)

During their "tour" Pernach has remained quiet; like Pepper he is surveying the area for weaknesses and hiding spots. (Perhaps his proficiency in mason's tools would come in handy for structural weaknesses, possible hidden rooms, etc.) Investigation 12
For his part, Cyril's clothing was arranged to match his "wife's" in style and quality. Simple pants and shirt, well made but understated. He wears his dagger on his belt openly, but carries no other weapons.
As Caelyn works her wiles on the guards, Cyril does his best to adopt alternating expressions of satisfaction and disappointment at various points in the tour, keeping his words few and simply letting his smile, nod, and scowl do the talking instead, as if he were busy considering all the many points that a business owner would need think of for such a venture.
In reality, much of his attention was focused on observing the interior of the place, looking for possible entry and exit points, hiding spots, anything that serve useful should they need to come back later.

Ashe will cast disguise self to make himself appear as a fancy Aundairian courtier, complete with a glorious muttonstache and an illusory glamerweave cape depicting several Aundairian dragonhawks in flight. Since Caelyn and Cyril are doing a pretty good job buttering up the personnel, he will surreptitiously look for any sort of magical security the warehouse might boast to protect its contents. Arcane alarms, scrying eyes, warding runes, that sort of thing.
Ashe does not detect any wards or other magical protection. Seems this is just a plain old warehouse! The party is successful in identifying where Lord Minovitas has some valuables stored - a separate room with a locked door. There are private rooms to either side - one is already rented, but the other one is available for 20 gp a week. Pepper thinks this is a bit steep, but no one else thinks twice about the cost of storage in this fair city far from anything you know.
It is getting late, and the guard who is guiding you around is dropping some not-so-subtle hints that the tour is complete and asks if you want to secure a space or not. He says the warehouse will be locked soon, but for an additional fee he can arrange to have another guard open a door so you can load whatever cargo you want into your stall tonight...
Pepper steps forward, with a deferential nod to Caelyn, but looking grim. "How many guards will be on tonight? If we're transporting my Lady's merchandise, I'll need to know who we are to meet and how many will be posted to secure the warehouse."

"Oh, we have four guards protecting the warehouse at night once it's all locked up. Only the two ways in, and we check the doors and patrol the inside throughout the night. I'll have Lars there ready to help you out if you rent the space, but that's considered overtime so an extra fee would be required..." the guard says to Pepper. "Look, my shift is over, we need to lock up the place, and I've got a round to buy at the tavern. Are we good? If so, that'll be 20 gold and I'll need you to sign here...and here. Here's the key to the your storage room."
Caelyn looks to Cyril then back to Pepper and nods Very well. She hands Pepper her coinbag containing the remaining spending money of 22gp. This should cover the fee and should allow Lars to be available tonight to open up so we can start storing our goods.
She then turns to the workers, expecting Pepper to handle closing the deal. Thank you for your services, it has been a pleasure.
When the deal concludes she will move back to Cyril she takes a last look at Lars, We will see you soon. ending with a smile
Cyril slips his arm in Caelyn's, patting her forearm with his free hand and giving her a smile. All in all he has said little, given his lack of confidence in his acting skills. He allows his real attention to linger on the employees, however, as Pepper finishes up their deal. So far he had no reason to think that any of them might suspect anything, but staying alert for any signs seemed wise.
The guard nods his head towards a large man in a chain shirt closing the main door. He has long blond hair, a rough beard, and has the build of a fighter or heavy laborer. But kind eyes.
(OK - you're good to go! Devise your plan and write it up. Lars will let you in when you are ready - expecting you to be loading something in. He seems honest and helpful, and will stay with you as you move in. There are two other guards you will see patrolling the inside of the warehouse, but the torches are spaced out so there are many shadowed spots. Questions?)
Gathering with the group somewhere outside Caelyn with speak to the group.
Firstly she will ask What did you guys see? Any guard posts or patrols that we should worry about?
Continueing she starts to visualize them entering this evening. We will need a cart with several crates, a few crates will contain some of you. Eyeing Kira, Pernach and Ashe. They will not expect you to be with us still.
We can leave most crates in the warehouse and take out a few containing you lot. Thats the easy part. Caelyn ponders for a few moments.
Perhaps one of us can lead Lars away, or we bribe him if he seems keen. We would however need to time any patrols, did anyone see how to get into Minovitas storage spot?
( i can fill in these questions but would be good to hear them from the group since Caelyn didnt see /watch for these things during their tour)
