"A moment, perhaps." Cyril glances at the shifter before moving closer to the others and speaking in a low tone, attempting to not be heard by the prisoner. "If the House is indeed involved here, along with the Daask, I feel like there is every reason to suspect the sergeant in being complicit. And Coal remaining here in Sharn any longer seems dangerous. Perhaps we could leverage one of our local... associates... to find Coal a way out of Sharn to someplace safer. Even, well... perhaps our employers could have a place for her where she could be safe and feel like she has a purpose?"
As Caelyn is spoken to by Pepper she listens while keeping an eye on the crowd. Then turns to whisper back. Agreed, our mission is not House Orien... Not yet anyway.
She knew Pepper was not afraid but glad she was not eager to take on a powerfull house.
In response to Cyril We do not know if Sgt Vilroy is involved. But you are right, bringing Coal could pose a danger to Coal or Sgt Vilroy if anyone finds out. We must take the shifter though.
If the group decides to move out and Coal still wants to leave Caelyn will try and find a quiet spot and use the Sending Stones to contact the academy. We have an information source in Sharn that needs to be taken to a safe location. Can you provide this? she says and awaits the response from the academy.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The kobolds and the shifter each carried some coins (14 gp and 20 sp in total). The acolyte kobold also a religious symbol of Kurtulmak, the god of the kobolds, made of stone and worth about 5 gp.
After about 10 minutes, Caelyn hears a reply through her stone. "Affirmative. Bring contact to Slogar's tavern in the Graywall district of Middle Tavick’s Landing. Ask for a glass of garlic wine at the bar."

On hearing the response relayed by Caelyn, Pepper fishes a gold coin from her purse, flipping it ostentatiously, and watching the crowd. She's looking for the kind of kid she knows well, the kind she was. Hungry, but scrupulous. She'll catch their eye, and move away from the party to a middle ground, hoping to meet in the middle.

After Caelyn gets the message she gathers the group We received word from our base. We can take Coal to the Slogar's tavern in the Graywall district of Middle Tavick's Landing.
She looks behind her making sure nobody is listening in. We should ask for a glass of garlic wine at the bar as signal.
Should we split up or have someone wait outside the tavern with our captive while we deliver Coal?
She will pocket the coin, and turn back to the group. Maybe Coal can guide us to that location. “Do we need to split up, some of us take the shifter to Sgt. Vilroy, the rest take care of Coal?”

"We should get Coal to safety first; two of us an keep an eye on our captive while she makes contact." Pernach shoulders their sword and stands between Coal and their captive.
"I can keep an eye on our would-be assassin here." Cyril turns to watch the shifter, his head cocked. "We can take this one to the sergeant, and Coal, well Coal escaped in the chaos of the attack and we're not sure what happened after that."
Noticing the group is unsure how to proceed Caelyn steps forward Alright, this is what we can do. She then moves in closer to the group
She turns to Pernach and Cyril as they volunteered , You two will watch this one. But we will knock him out first so he wont be any trouble or knows where we are going.
Some will stay outside the drop off point while we deliver Coal. We will be near each other which is safer for us. This might not be the only group hired to attack Coal.
Caelyn then turns to Pepper and motions to the shifter Would you like to do the honors?assuming Pepper would not shy away from knocking someone out.
(@DM would we or anyone in the group know the way to the district or tavern?)
Like any big city, there are basic signs to help folks find their way, and asking around gets you to Slogar's Tavern with ease. The unconscious shifter slung over Pernach's shoulder draws some interesting looks from passersby - especially in the Middle Districts. But, since you're headed to a tavern, most folks seem to assume you're on a bar crawl and the shifter lost the bet...
The exchange goes smoothly inside the tavern - you safely hand Coal off to an operative and get the unique opportunity to taste wine made from garlic...
(See my note in the OOC page - we'll take a break IRL while I'm out of town.)
Coal is now safely in the hands of your Academy contacts - you hope to see her again when you return. Now it's time to do something with your slowly-coming-back-to-conciousness assailant. Are you going to the Sharn Watch to look for SGT Vilroy, or perhaps get word to her some other way?
“It’s not that I don’t trust her,” Pepper elaborates. “I trust her as far as I can throw her, and that’s pretty far.” She ghosts a smile at her own joke. “But I don’t believe Vilroy and her superiors are on the same page, here. They didn’t come to us, she did.”
She kicks the shifter. “And this one is going to attract more attention the longer we have them, awake or not.”
Listening to Pepper Caelyn nods. Taking her sending stone out of her beltbag she shakes it a bit as it doesnt feel the same as before. Thinking a moment she says I think it needs to recharge. Perhaps one of you can contact Sgt Vilroy to tell her what we have learned.
And we need to get rid of that one. Perhaps we can drop him off or have him picked up.
Caelyn paces a bit back and forth Im not sure if we should check out this Alden d’Orien. Perhaps we leave that to Sgt Vilroy. However i think anything related to that name would require a more delicate approach.
"I vote we drop the thug into a garbage bin someplace and forget about it." Cyril shrugs, glancing at the unconscious shifter for a moment. "Tied up and groggy at best. Eventually someone will find them and let them out, but not for a while I'd think. And I agree about the sergeant. Something tells me Vilroy isn't as in the know as she might think. as for d'Orien..." He pauses, biting his lip in thought for a moment. "Something stinks there. I, for one, would like to know more about what it might be. But Caelyn is right. It's a delicate matter."

Pepper sees plenty of kids - but none meet with her approval...they are either obviously part of a family, or not particularly scrupulous.

"Sounds like a plan, Caelyn. Let's get Coal to safety."
Pepper grins, “Oh, gladly,” and proceeds to pummel the shifter into unconsciousness.

Pepper is inclined to try some other way, she’s suspicious about this being a little off book, and unwilling to go to the authorities in general.

Cyril would be in agreement with this. He doesn't entirely trust that the Sergeant is on the up and up here.
