Even as he moves to watch outside, Cyril hears the thud of Caelynn dropping to the floor and spins, wary. Seeing his companion on the ground, he hurriedly drops to one knee beside her and begins checking her over for signs of what happened and what he might do to help her.

Pepper says something short and foul and drops into the pit, her torch wavering. “Hold this,” she thrusts the torch at Pernach, then wrenches on the chains holding the warforged. “These… guys… better… be… friendly!”

Regardless of the outcome, she takes her torch back and hurries over to the hut and Caelyn.

Ashe and Cyril determine that Caelyn is unconscious but breathing. Looking for a cause, they detect an oily substance on the lock, and realize it is some kind of poison designed to disable anyone trying to handle or pick the lock. Ashe knows that in many cases, a good slap or a small poke with a pointy object will rouse the victim. (Assuming you do that, Caelyn wakes up after taking 1 hp of damage...)
Pepper and Pernach have a difficult time breaking the chain but continue trying to break it. (Assuming you pass the DC, and you telling the warforged they are free to go, they will scatter to other parts of the Cogs, grateful for the rescue.
Caden is nearly catatonic from his ordeal. The six-year-old simply sits and stares into the middle distance. Any character trained in Medicine knows that the boy needs proper food and water, rest, and his father. Caden tells you that he was kidnapped by a big, mean monster lady named Garra and imprisoned here by her bugbear friends.
Each of the 3 bugbears you vanquished carries a coin pouch - combined you collect 40 gp and 49 sp. One bugbear also wore a cheap necklace that consists of a banded agate (10 gp) tied to a loop of rope.

Pernach's initial attempt to simply shatter the chains by hand was thwarted; no doubt due to the distraction of Caelyn hitting the ground. When Peppers attempt to break them also fails, they make a growling noise in frustration before wedging a link of the chain between some of the large chunks of debris on the ground and raising their warhammer for a blow.

The hammer blow shatters the link into shards. They sling the hammer over their should as they look to the now freed captives. "You're free to go where you wish; probably best away from here. If you can tell us anything about your captors that would help us destroy them, we would appreciate it."
Pepper takes advantage to slap Caelyn in a manner that hurts (1 hp). Then breathes a sigh of relief as she wakes up. She looks up and recalls where she is. “Hey, kid. My name’s Pepper,” she says as she scoops up the child. “We are going to take you home now.”
She stands up and looks to the others (her torch is left guttering on the ground. “Let’s go!”

Riding the strange lift back to the surface, the party returns Caden d’Orien safely to his father at Unicorn Estate. Alden is overjoyed at the return of his son but saddened by the deaths of the warforged that he hired to work for Daask. Still, he doesn’t regret the actions that kept his son alive. Alden thanks you all and tells you everything he knows.
Niho Koi, an imposing oni and Daask sub-boss in Sharn, ordered a half-ogre lieutenant named Garra to assemble a team and search the ruins of Old Sharn for arcane relics at the behest of someone much higher up in the organization. With a lot of ground to cover beneath the City of Towers, Garra kidnapped Caden d’Orien, the only son of Alden d’Orien, forcing Alden to use his position in his dragonmarked house to recruit out-of-work warforged — people no one would miss — to scour Old Sharn’s ruins. Alden branded the work as a “secret research-gathering mission” for his house, paid the warforged workers for their silence, and signed them to binding contracts.
It took several weeks of dangerous exploring and a few deaths, but eventually the warforged workers found a library of arcane texts and schemas buried in the ruins. These items were moved to a Daask safe house in Tavick’s Landing near the Terminus Lightning Rail station. The organization plans to smuggle the relics out of Breland to Droaam.
Coal, a destitute warforged hired by Alden, witnessed her good friend Razor die, executed in the ruins of Old Sharn as an example to the other workers. Coal made an appointment to talk to Sergeant Germaine Vilroy of the Sharn Watch, to report the shady operation, Razor’s murder, and the kidnapping of the House Orien scion, Caden. Thanks to crooked members of the Sharn Watch in Daask’s pocket, Garra found out about the appointment and dispatched killers to prevent Coal from ratting out the operation.
Alden gives you the address of a Terminus apartment in Lower Tavick’s Landing that Garra uses as a safe house and a place to store the books and schemas found in Old Sharn’s ruins. In addition, he offers you a sum of 250 gp to leave his name and House Orien out of your report to the Sharn Watch. Alden is deeply ashamed of being manipulated in this way and doesn’t want to tarnish his reputation or his house.
Alden offers his residence as a place where you can rest, grab a bite to eat, and heal up (short rest) before moving on. Finally, as a gesture of goodwill and thanks, Vishtai offers each of you a unicorn-shaped feather token inset with the sigil of House Orien.
On the way back, Pepper keeps ahold of the kid, trusting the others to keep the group safe. As the son of House d'Orien relates the tale, she gets a stormy look on her face, and eventually steps out, missing the last part of the reveal. She remains out of the room until the others come out, where she shrugs off any kind words and just asks, "Tell me we have people to hit."
Although the elf is immune to magical sleep, chemical/botanic poisons work like a champ and the rogue falls down to the ground.

"Right behind you." Cyril moves to watch Pepper's back, his staff in one hand and the other hovering near a throwing dart.
"Thanks, Pepper," Ashe sighs. "You good, Caelyn?"

(Agreed, short rest time)
I'm good hanging out at the residence for a while. I think I'm about the only one not banged up, so don't want to split the party. :)
After that we should definitely go run down Garra and his minions...
Agreed. Can I roll HD now? ;)
