"'From a distance'? That's not good..." Guroz looks down at his wooden blades, "do these come out at night? It'll do no good to run into them. Chonk, you up for the crossbow?"
“I have no proficiency with such a weapon.”Chonk admits. “It would be better utilized by someone else.”
He pats the side of his backpack and says, “Maybe I can fashion some javelins with these tools. That would give some of us something to hurl from a distance.”
"Seems I am the only one who can make use of this..." Lefaris says, picking up the hand crossbow. She looks between the other two. "You two will have to decide who takes the cape and who takes the dagger. She glances to Chonk though. "I do not believe a dagger will be much use by you, so maybe the cape would be best going to Chonk..." She leaves it at that though,, letting the two decide between themselves.
While Goroz and Sindri consider the dagger and cape (Chonk already took the tools) the Cleric addresses the questions of "other monsters" and "Creepers at night." They look thoughtful for a moment,
"This is a dangerous land, the undead are found everywhere these days from the common zombies you fought last night to the dreaded drowned of the deep oceans. Creepers have always been here and appear mostly at night, though they are tolerant of the daylight unlike the undead. In the deep forests you will find giant spiders and far to the south the dreaded swamp hags and slime monsters. There are also rumours of fresh waves of Pillagers raiding from the east, carrying whole villages off for their strange sacrifices. Truly, Steve could not have left us at a worse time."
Sindri nudges Lefaris in the thigh and not so quietly whispers, "Be nice, that is their hero after all." While she listens to all the different threats they could face, she picks up the cape and tries it on - seeing if it will drag on the ground or not. She then looks up at the cleric, "This may be an odd question, but why do you depict Notch with an apple in his hands?"
(also, when Sindri was reading the book, did she find out any other useful information?)
The Cleric does not seem fazed by your line of questioning Lefaris, though the Guide lets out a little gasp.
"You are correct. Steve is but one man, but do your lands have no heroes who that people gather behind. Mighty champions who through deeds of valour cause others to rise up? Steve is such a man. Without his example the people grow timid and afraid."
They welcome your change of subject Sindri and offer you a warm smile. "Ah the golden apple. It is his symbol and an item of great worth in these lands. There are few to be found and the one we have is but a gilded replica. It is know to have great healing, indeed lifegiving properties. If you ever find one it will be a great treasure indeed. It is also said that a golden apple can hold enchantments to further strengthen their power."
As to what you found in the time you had reading the book Sindri. You gleaned the following :
You see a rough world map that shows you to be on the great western continent of Villos; across the Ocean to the east is another great landmass called Ilmarin and between them an arpeggio of Islands called the Summer Isles
You learn that this world like your own has a vast Underdark realm where strange creatures dwell and ancient treasures can be found
In the bottom left hand corner of the page on Creepers you see the words "Afraid of Cats!" scribbled hastily.
Guroz do you take the dagger or give it to one of your companions?
Guroztakes the dagger, only if no else is keen on taking it.
The half-orc then ponders loudly, "heroes barely seem real. People talked about these heroes, others claimed to have met them; at the end of it, they're just names and paintings attached them based in the stories told to comfort."
“We should get moving. We’re burning daylight.”Chonk stresses. “Is there anything we should be on the lookout for, something that might aid the injured villager back there?”Chonk motions back towards the other room.
"True. best be moving to this farm, so it doesn't get too late for us to make it back before nightfall." Lefaris agrees. She gets to her feet, but pauses though as the question is asked about what might help the injured villager.
The Cleric stands also and gives a nod of gratitude over the concern for the injured villager.
“I have done what I can for the poor soul. We can but wait and hope. Should things take a turn for the worst I may yet call upon your aid if you be willing, but time will tell.”
The Cleric leads you outside in a more cheerful mood than when this meeting started and bids you farewell.
Is there anything else the party would like to do before heading out to the farm?
Sindri cheerfully says goodbye to the cleric as they leave the building and on their way out she asks, "Do we have time to stop at the leather workers? I wouldn't mind some armor.." she then looks into her little pouch of a handful of emeralds, "then again, I probably don't have enough for it. What do you think mister guide? Or do you have a name I can call you?"
Sindri checks and makes sure Little Pwok is still with them, and then to the guide, "Please, show us the way to the farm. I mean, I know we have an idea as to where it is, but you're such a great guide!"
Lefaris is ready to head out; she has nothing more she wishes to do in town.
"I believe it is time to get to the farm." Lefaris says to the guide. "Will you be coming with us or would you rather stay here in town until we return?"
"Oh no... oh no I can not go. Out there is way too scary and... I am not brave."
The chicken gives a loud Pwok! of disapproval and the Guide looks both worried and ashamed as they make their excuses. "The way is simple. You follow the path back toward the Westwood and turn right on the track, just before where you saw the dead wolf."
The Guide leads you back through the village and stops on the western edge to wave you goodbye. Several village children come running up to see you off, waving and cheering. A few of them have fashioned wooded swords like the ones you carry and they wave them with glee.
You all start out back the way you came the day before. Sindri after a few hours walking and wearing your new cloak your instincts for the arcane start to give clues as to the nature of this item. In fact you get to the point where you feel almost certain of its nature. This is a cloak of protection. A real bargain!
A few hours pass by and it is approaching late morning when you see a group of humanoids on the road ahead. You are fair distance away and can roll perception to see what you can make out.
Chonk will be looking for suitable wood to fashion a bo staff (quarterstaff), spear, and or javelins along the way. He’s anxious to try out his new Woodcarver’s tools. His Martial Arts is handy but having a weapon with a bit more punch and something for ranged attacks, should they encounter a creeper, may make all the difference.
To the guide, “Do you suppose the smithy has spearheads for sale, should I find a wood shaft suitable for creating a spear?”

"So what was so special about Steve?" Lefaris asks with a frown. "If he was just one person, then how could he deal with all of these threats?"

Perception: 15
Sindri is busy admiring her new cloak as they are walking (thanks!) and about bumps into Lefaris when she stops. "Huh? Oh! I see! That's odd..."
Perception 19
Don't suppose she can tell if they have the same appearance with the bulbous noses that the villagers all have?
