I started reading the book a couple of days ago and felt that this setting/adventure would work great for PbP format due to the multiple mechanics introduced such as extracurricular activities, jobs, etc.
If you are also interested in playing a Strixhaven campaign please post the usual character information for games. We will be starting at level 1, every published race and class it's ok.
For those who aren't as familiar with the setting here's a brief description:
A magical world boasts many places where students can study magic and many sages who take eager learners under their wings. But being accepted to Strixhaven University is a special honor, the dream of many young students. Strixhaven is a place of enlightenment and learning, and both its graduates and its delegates are typically welcomed and respected wherever they go.
Founded seven centuries ago by five ancient dragons, Strixhaven is the premier institution of magical learning, drawing promising young mages from all over. Each equipped with its own campus and faculty, Strixhaven's five colleges—summarized in the Colleges of Strixhaven table—cover a vast array of academic and magical specialties.
As a Strixhaven student, you start with a well-rounded education in a rigorous first-year program. In your second year, you choose your preferred specialty at one of the five colleges. You can also partake in a vibrant campus life, with plenty of clubs and other activities. You might even play on one of Strixhaven's prestigious Mage Tower teams and bask in the adoration of cheering crowds!
Hi there! I would certainly be interested in joining. My character is named Hessi Acron, and is a dragonborn wizard. She was a low level mage working in the court of neverwinter, but realized she was being cheated by them and left. She has now arrived at strixhaven, looking to learn and understand her talents better, so she can become powerful and eventually go back to the noble court and take a position as a high mage.

I will protect those I hate. Even ... even if the one I hate most ... is ... myself.
My character is a halfling sorcerer. He used to be a potato farmer, but one day, during a drought and looking for water for his crops, he found a pool of wild magic. With his newfound abilities, he applied for strixhaven university to train in the art of magic to become an adventurer, and with a little practice (and a whole lot of halfling luck) he made it in.

I've bought the Strixhaven book myself, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. That being said, I'd love to be a part of this!
Name: Vivian Aerinith
Race: Aasimar
Class: Sorcerer (planning a melee focused build with Sorcerer 3/ Warlock X)
Backstory:
Vivian comes from a human family of paladins that have long served Lady Mystra, the Mother of All Magic. Their goal is to preserve the sanctity of magic and ensure that it is only ever used for good. Everyone says that a successful birth is a miracle, but Vivi's birth was two miracles. Lady Mistra had blessed Vivi with a great boon which infused her blood with the divinity of an aasimar and increased her affinity to magic. Vivi's parents took this as a sign that Lady Mistra had great plans for Vivi. Her parents tried to pass their techniques down onto Vivi, but the magic her parents knew as paladins was different from the kind Vivi was blessed with. As such, Vivi's parents have sent her to Strixhaven where she can hopefully develop her arcane gifts.

Garius takes his heritage, and his parents' stories about war, for granted. He doesn't really have a sense of violence, real consequences, or the hardships of military life. He is blindly following in his family's footsteps with no sense of what may come if his path ever lands him anything more than a token position. He is gentle by nature and hard to anger, but has his mother's temper when pushed.
Backstory: Louvel is a parrot-like Aarakocra, who is basically a nerd. Since he was 2, he has been obsessed with calculations. He thinks he can find the solution to anything, if you give him a scroll, a quill, and some ink. He does his best thinking under stress, weather that be from a teacher, a deadline, or in a battle. Louvel grew up amongst the poorest of the towns surrounding Strixhaven. He had to resort to steeling at some point to make ends meet. He always dreamed of getting into House Quandrix, of Strixhaven. The way he plans on getting there is quite a doozy. He planned on robbing the town's bank, and use that money to join Strixhaven. When he was caught by the town's wizardry police force, they sent him straight to Strixhaven for community service. He was overjoyed by this, which confused the police. Since he was so happy to go, he was released from prison, and told to pack his stuff. Luckily for him, anything he owned, he already had on him. And he then went off to Strixhaven.

A tavern brawl Connoisseur who pushes his warforged alchohol tolerance to its limits seemingly always drinking, it's never quite clear how drunk he may be. Freedom and curiosity drive him most, though recently the loss of his first pirate ship has left him a tad melancholy. Like a good captain he went down with the ship refusing to leave the helm even after it hit the bottom of the briny deep. Only giving up after he spent a few days screaming and murdering sea life before walking back to shore, burdened with every last scrap of salvage he could carry across the sea floor. Upon landfall a group of sailors spotted him and listened to his tale of ship loss omitting any acts of piracy of course. The sailors showed him how the wood of their ship had been alchemicaly enhanced and would likely have stood up to what his ship had not. A destination now in mind Crew, crewed the sailors vessel for passage on his way to strixhaven.
I have a plain text character sheet I put together, can post here if needed.
The Gathakalathi clan frowns on study of magic. When Patham showed interest, and aptitude, for the magical arts, they worked to redirect him to more clan-approved options for his future. As none of those 'took' they eventually decided that sending him off to study somewhere might be in the clan's best interest.
Backstory: Hans lived his youth in a vast swamp (he never learned its name). He was teased for being too tall, leading him to spend time alone often. This usually meant learning to read from the few books that the goblins of the swamp had found. One day he found a fresh victim of the swamp, and a new book on his corpse: Alchemists Cookbook volume 2. He thought it was a regular cookbook, and decided to try if the outlanders foods very any good. It took a lot of improvisation (as it was in actuality an alchemy textbook), but he somehow managed to make the instructions work as recipes. And surprisingly the results were good, and usually even kept their magical effects. He was astonished by the power of the 'outlander cookery', and decided to pack his little possessions and travel to the human village on the edge of the swamp in search of more such books.
He was in luck, as someone was there looking for the books previous owner, and recognized the book he carried around proudly. It took a long time to prove he had learned to 'cook' alchemy from the book, as the concept made no sense, but eventually the man believed Hans and decided that such a talent had to get into Strixhaven. He was also gifted the first part of the book series, that actually taught the basics of alchemy, allowing him to learn what exactly he had learned, and helped fix a couple problems he still had with it.
Does our character have to be a spellcaster? And if so, which ones are allowed.
Study at Strixhaven isn't about learning to be a wizard but about learning to be a historian, an artist, an orator, a scientist, or some other profession—while using magic to enhance one's studies. The university's understanding of magic is expansive. Characters of any class can study at Strixhaven, whether they're full-fledged spellcasters like wizards, clerics, and druids; they manage a spell or two thanks to a subclass or feat; or they manifest magical abilities that aren't even spells. (For example, a barbarian who follows the Path of the Ancestral Guardian, described in Xanathar's Guide to Everything, can excel in studying history at Lorehold College by virtue of their connection to an ancestral spirit.)
Magic is everywhere on campus. The campus culture encourages finding magical solutions to the most mundane problems, and if characters need access to a spell they can't cast, they have a strong chance of finding someone who can cast it.
Vinny is a new recruit with the Grimsburrow, Guild of Investigations. The guild is an untethered resource that the rich and royal employ for all matters that need in-depth examinations. Because of their independent nature, members are often hired to root out any foul play in the high court arena of royalty. They are bound to no kingdom thus, employers can purchase unbiased intel for the right price.
As members retire or expire, new membership must be acquired. Vinny was selected for his magical aptitude and placed in the mages division of the guild. Each magling investigator must attend Strixhaven before they take contracts.
Today, Vinny finds himself with a rare opportunity as he stands before the school gates
