I was thinking having side quests that give you a decent amount of gear and money ran by me and I just wanted to know if sonic111 is okay with that while he is doing his campaign
I guess that the party is probably too big. I'll join the side quest thing, then.

Drex walks into the tavern and finds a seat. He asks for some nice red wine to quench his thirst. "I've been out adventuring and needed to rest a bit."
Drex is a half elf with silverish hair, blue eyes, albino ish skin. He's dressed in a dark blue robe, fine dark blue cloak with stars, a fine shortsword and a couple daggers around his waist. He has a bow and backpack on his back.

Locke looked over toward the new entrants. The half-Goliath was back; apparently he'd had a successful outing. The half-elf looked oddly familiar, but the merchant was certain he'd never seen him before. He also looked rather strong, but not SO strong as to not need a new monk on his team; Locke decided it might be a while before other potential companions came by.
He stood and approached the other two. "Gordon, right?" he asked the taller one. "If you're both free, I'd like to join your excursion as well... if you'll have me." The merchant held out his hand to the half-elf. "I am Locke."
Drex welcomes the other adventurers to sit please. Here let me get you a drink, as he waves over the server. "What will you have Locke and Gordon? I just got into town and thought I 'd see what sort of adventures might be had."
OOC - Unfortunately I'm not really a DM and I realize this is a DMless adventure setting. Either of you interested in running it? Not sure on your skill sets and if neither of you are healers we might need one or need to purchase some healing potions to compensate. Thoughts? I'm not averse to trying to DM one, but if I did it would be slow going for sure as It'd be my first time DMing. I'd have to figure out a bunch of stuff from the get-go.

(( Not a problem; I can admin the session if need be. ))
Locke smiled and waved his hand dismissively. "Thank you, but I've already had my fill. I've been waiting a few days for other adventurers, so I'm eager to get together with a group." He nodded toward both of them. "You two seem strong, and I think my skills as a monk can help us succeed. With a fourth, I think we should do well on our outing."
His sales pitch made, the merchant leaned back and eyed the half-elf. "So, Drex... what are you bringing to the table? You appear to be... a ranger, I'm guessing?"
OOC - Go ahead Locke and run it. If you guys are up for it, I can try and run the next one.
IC - "Drex nods at Locke noting he's fully refreshed, "I dabble in Sword play, stealth and sorcery. I believe I can hold my own in a fight. A monk you say. I've seen a few in my time and you've survived this long, so you are doing well. Gordon, how about you? You ready to help cleanse the forest? How about your skill good sir?"
Locke smiled as he waited for Gordon's response. Magic and fighting ability? Between Drex's skills, Gordon's rune-wielding combat and his own talents, their team was looking quite formidable.
(( OOC: Just waiting for Gordon at this point. I think a fourth party member would be good, although I admit it won't matter much if they're under 5th level: we can probably handle a tier-1 outing ourselves, and unless they're 5th level or higher, we'd still be doing a tier-1 outing. But if you'd both rather just jump right into it with only us three, I'm game. ))
Gildor says softly, "Gordon must be thinking hard my friend. Cat has his tongue, me thinks." Drex says with a smile.
OOC- I'm ok with adding a fourth or going as is. I picked up a subscription to DM and started playing around with the encounter builder a bit. I also looked over the random adventure roll charts for this thread to look at piecing together a tier 1 adventure of sorts. On one hand I like the ease with which you can put together a quick adventure and on the other hand I wouldn't mind some a little more substance. I suppose that would be a small campaign then. I guess I could look at picking up a couple quick campaign out of the store.
OOC2 - One thing I've noticed is that it starts dragging the more party members you have, potentially. I get that Real Life happens though and not everyone is in the same time zone.

(( OOC: I wouldn't recommend spending money for the Forest of Wonders; I don't think it was ever intended to be that involved. From what I read, it was just a thread to give players a (relatively quick) series of fights/encounters, have them grab some loot and (maybe) level up, then back to town: no significant roleplay, no big plot required. The simplicity is the reason I actually jumped in; roleplay is nice but sometimes just winning some fights and grabbing loot is what I'm looking for.
All that in mind, I tend to be quick and terse when I admin a Forest outing; much less committed to any sort of story than if I was DMing an actual campaign. Hopefully you're OK with that? If you want, you can check out my last (and first!) admin thread to get a feel for my style (keeping in mind it should move at a faster clip with only 3-4 of us) : link. ))
OOC - Yeah......I'm thinking of this as a jumping off point forum thread if I choose to do a more formal campaign. I'd like to get more experienced with 5E as I'm a long time 2E player with minimal DM experience in 2E. I've played D&D online.....old school CRPG like Balders gate on dvd/computer where you control 6 pc's in a tactical combat rpg scenario, 3 or more PBP internet sites mostly 2E. I'll check the link out. Fast and furious DM style is ok with me.
