"No idea, but it seems like the culprit took advantage of the goblin raid to carry out this theft, which means that they're probably the ringleader of this operation. But we're not going to get much more than that until we actually find whoever did this. I'll let Father Zantus know what happened, you all can call it a day."

Rashimi flutters over from the remains of her skeleton, looking a little disgruntled. "I guess I can be quiet if we need to be, for now. But this is an important part of the story!"
Zelvo nodded solemnly in agreement but would spare the bones one last hard look. He then turned back to the sheriff, seeming just about to say something, only to calm back up and look to the ground shaking his head softly. "Guess we'll take our leave then. But if you have need of us again Sheriff, then please don't hesitate to ask. At the moment we're staying at the Rusty Dragon." He then makes a quick few gesture in the air before holding his fist of his heart and bowing his head slightly. "And may the Great Dreamer bless you with a far more pleasant journey in seeking the truth behind all this in the meantime."

A few days later, Sheriff Hemlock heads to the inn, once again seeking you all out for something. "Good Morning. Someone I think you would like to meet came in rather suddenly last night, requesting a meeting with myself and Mayor Deverin at the town hall. I think you should join us, there's some news that you all might like to hear."

Over the course of the next few days Zelvo is anything but still. Though he would never admit as much, the theft and necessary secrecy hit deeply, as the man would volunteer whatever free time was possible in helping out at the temple, or even in doing the odd little good deed/odd job in transit between it and the tavern. That is, if any citizen be of a need of it, or the rest of his newfound group of friends(?) have not more pressing wishes of his time.
But just as true as the incident had plagued his thoughts, so too had Lonjiku's caustic remarks at times. Sleep did not come easy even despite the promise of finding comfort under Desna's proverbial wings. Yet rest would find him all the same due to exhaustion winning out, if nothing else. Following it... he wouldn't quite be able to recall the dreams the evening prior or feel the need to try. But he would awaken feeling vaguely comforted, a touch saddened, and yet ultimately far more self-assured and happy than he had been in years.
Even the news eventually brought in by the Sheriff hardly seemed to shake the absentminded smile on his face. "Sounds good, Sheriff. Let's hop to it. Sooner we can resolve things the better."

Rashimi spends a lot of time forging in the woods, and it's entirely possible that sufficient curses in Sylvan have sailed out of them for some of the townsfolk to pick up some new vocabulary. When the Sheriff finds them, the fairy is still streaked with soot but has likely been convinced by Nina to come in for some food. She nods and floats upwards, bobbing in the air. "Got it! On our way!"

The light of the Great Gateway would never stop being so blinding, but Daemon's welcoming face once she passed to the other side was a comforting presence. The light tree towered over them both as she ran her hands against some of the nearby tall grass, the soft ends brushing her palms as a calming smile played at her lips. Daemon allowed her time to go through what has become a nightly ritual of enjoying the beauty of the inner world. However, after a few moments, her offered her his hand with a soft clear of his throat. "Shall we? The others have decided we should have a group discussion. They're waiting for us at Kenji's cottage."
She took his hand, giving a simple and understanding nod, her smile seeming to falter for a moment before she took a deep breath, the sweet scent of the nature around her giving her some peace. Daemon led the way, the walk itself a peaceful silence as the sounds of running water grew closer to her ears. She knew the walk well. After all, it wasn't uncommon for Kenji to invite everyone to an evening tea session to allow Piper to show off her new vocabulary. But this time, well, she couldn't shake the underlying concern of what the conversation may bring. It wasn't often that everyone would gather for 'a talk'. In fact, the last time that had happened... It has been quite some time, hasn't it.
The two story cottage was a warm sight, overhanging the softly running river decorated with water lilies and lotus that floated aimlessly down its surface. She let her hands brush along the well trimmed bushes that lined the short staircase leading to the front door. Clearly, Kenji had been busy with gardening again. However, the brief imperfections were a clear sign that he had been letting Piper assist him on occasion. She was certainly getting better with the gardening sheers. Even if Kenji had to watch over her the entire time.
The sweet scent of fresh tea wafted from the cabin, the front door briefly propped open invitingly. Almost on cue, she felt the presence rush past her from the stairs, her fingers briefly meeting soft black feathers as Piper sprinted by herself and Daemon before disappearing past the cabin door. A brief pause passed before Kenji popped his head around the doorway, his hair pulled back in simply man-bun.
"I was wondering when you two would arrive. Come in, I've made some jasmine tea and Piper helped make some pastries. Kai is already waiting in the kitchen." Without further hesitation, Daemon led the two of them into the cottage. The interior was warm, a briefly crackling fireplace playing with the shadows of the living space walls. She followed, past the neatly decorated entry space and into the kitchen where the three awaited them. Piper met her with an excited bounce and a simple pastry on a plate. As she took her own seat at the table and a deep breath for her nerves, Kenji cleared his throat, seeming signaling the beginning of the discussion.
"The past few days have been rather... Interesting? To say the least... But, you've done wonderfully Nina. And, we are very proud of you."
"We... Apologize for taking over the light... We know it's quite disorienting for you. And rather important to you to be up front."
"They both received quite a stern talking to after the incident. And shouldn't be doing it again unless completely necessary. We want your studies to go well Nina. And, for the time being, we all agreed it best to keep you in the front for as long as possible. However, we cannot always control who is drawn to the light. But, we're all doing our best."
She seemed to pause before giving them all a slight nod. Briefly picking at the flaky pastry, she met their apologetic but somewhat concerned looks. "I appreciated the help. You all deserve a chance in the light. And... If I'm not protecting us like I should... If I'm freezing up... Then of course you should intervene."
Kenji shook his head, pausing to give Kai a slight frown before ruffling Nina's hair with a soft smile. "Darling. You're doing wonderful. Don't worry about that. And, by the looks of it, you have quite the group looking out for you. But... We're not quite sure if they are ready yet. Soon, they will be. But for now, well, you know how disorienting it was for your father. Even Rashimi had quite a bit of learning to do. In time, they will meet us. Perhaps even Piper. But, they need you right now. We'll always be here to help. But, you're stronger than you know."
Kai seemed to roll her eyes at Kenji, crossing her arms as she offered Nina an amused smile. "What Kenji would like to say, is that there is plenty of time for them to meet us. Right now, just focus on kicking some monster butt. If not for you, then for me. And them of course. We'll be right behind you in case we need to step in. So, enjoy your time in the light. And stop worrying so much about disappointing us."
The conversation fell to silence with Nina's simple nod, offering them all a smile. Admittingly, she was worried. Worried for when the light decided to bring someone else to the surface. Hoping that Rashimi would be enough to facilitate that introduction. And, as she enjoyed her pastry, surrounded by the others and the warmth that Kenji's cottage offered, she couldn't help but feel that underlying fear of losing control again. But, for now, the others believed in her. And she trusted them. That was all she could ask for. Well that and the delightful cinnamon pastry she enjoyed before stepping back into the overlooking light tree.

After the issue at the grave site, Nina would silently enjoy a meal with the others before, ultimately retiring to bed with a confused aura about her. The next few days, the young girl could be seen reading from a variety of books either out in the sunlight near the forest or within the walls of the inn, nestled in a comfy and relatively secluded corner. Going between what appeared to be her spell book and another smaller and tucked away note pad from within her bag, she seemed more than content to enjoy some peace and curious exploration in the town. Breaking away from her readings to force Rashimi to actually eat food, she finds her place at the table come the sheriff's arrival, giving the Sheriff a curious tilt of her head between the finishing bites of her meal.
"I assume it's about the recent situation? Some closure, or at least information, would be greatly welcomed."
The sheriff nods affirmatively and leads you all to a comfortable office on the second floor of the town hall. He also introduces you all to the mayor and she gratefully thanks each of them for the help they provided Sandpoint during the raid. "This is Shalelu. She's an unofficial member of our town guard." She smirks at this. "And these are our newest crop of goblinslayers." He says gesturing towards you all. "Shalelu's been a thorn in the side of the local goblin tribes for years. No one knows more about 'em than she does. For the last month, she's been going around the Lost Coast on patrol. Actually wasn't supposed to be back in town until autumn, but she had a report to bring. I'll save you the details, but Sandpoint isn’t the only place in the region that’s had goblin troubles. In short, there’s been an increase in goblin-related raids along the Lost Coast, particularly in the dale between Nettlewood and Mosswood. Only a day ago, a farm south of Mosswood was burnt to the ground by a group of goblins. Shalelu was thankfully nearby, to rescue the family and drive off the goblins. The family was fortunately taken in by another family's farm until they can find a more permanent arrangement, but the goblin problem is obviously not going away. I'll cede the floor to Shalelu so that she can tell you what she told me."
“Belor’s told me of your work against the goblins— well done. I’ve dedicated the last several years of my life to keeping them from causing too much trouble around these parts, but they’re tenacious and fecund little runts. Like weeds that bite. “There are five major goblin tribes in the region, and, traditionally, they’re pretty good at keeping each other in line with intertribal squabbles and the like. Yet from what I’ve been able to piece together, members of all five tribes were involved in the raid on Sandpoint. A fair number of the Mosswood goblins I dealt with yesterday were already pretty beat up, and there was a lot of chatter about the ‘longshanks’ who killed so many of them. Now that I’ve met you, it seems obvious from their descriptions who they were talking about. Seems like you’ve made an impression. “In any event, the fact that the five tribes are working together disturbs me. Goblin tribes don’t get along unless they’ve got something big planned, and big plans require big bosses. I’m afraid that someone’s moved in on the goblins and organized them. And judging by these recent raids, what they’re organizing seems like bad news for all of us.”

"To say that's all-terrible news would be putting it lightly. But I'm afraid there's definitely been more evidence of that -- or, u-uhm, I'd think we could consider it as much. I'm not, uh, sure how much the Sherriff has elaborated on it, but-..." He trailed off there and looked to the Sheriff for permission before recounting the tale of the tomb scrap.
"I've kept myself fairly distracted after that whole business back then. But, I doubt it's all a coincidence. And if what you say is true, it doesn't sound as if they're gonna fracture on their own anytime soon, so... Gosh, I don't even know where to go from there. Other than of course figuring out just who it is that's got them all riled up."

"Unfortunately, it's not that simple. There are currently six goblins in the region that have managed to attain the notoriety that elevates them to being heroes among their people."She begins counting off on her fingers. "Big Gugmut. He's an unusually muscular and tall goblin from Mosswood who, it is said, had a hobgoblin for a mother and a wild boar for a father. Untrue of course, but he's still an issue given his notoriety. Koruvus. A champion of the Seven Tooth tribe, very temperamental, known to carry around a magic longsword he got off someone he killed, despite the fact that it's too big for him. He vanished several months ago and was last seen near the cliffs, but the Seven Tooth goblins remain convinced he’s out there still, as a ghost or worse. I'm inclined to believe that he's still out there, since I haven't seen a body."
"Then there's Vorka. He's a goblin cannibal who lives in the Brinestump marsh. Most of his heroism is for non-Licktoad goblins. There's also Rendwattle Gutwad , the chieftain of the Brinestump goblins. He's honestly the least important of the bunch in my opinion, since his corpulence makes it so that he rarely, if ever, leaves his throne. Ripnugget is the warchief of the Thistletop goblins and controls what the five tribes agree is the best lair. I'm inclined to agree, since Thistletop has been a stronghold for the goblins since as long as I can remember. And then there’s Bruthazmus. Technically he doesn't belong, since he's a bugbear, but he often visits the five tribes to trade things he’s stolen from caravans for alcohol, news, or magic arrows, which makes him a hero enough to them. He has a particular hatred of Elves and I've dueled him on more than one occasion, although neither of us has been able to gain the upper hand. Which unfortunately means that the manner is not as easily resolved as challenging the leader to a duel and even more so if they're working with a non-goblin leader that was using what happened during the raid on Sandpoint as cover for some other scheme."
"And that's why I'm taking a few of the town guard down to Magnimar to request some additional soldiers, at least for a few weeks until we figure out the scope of the situation."The sheriff adds. "I know that you want to get out there and deal with the goblins, but the locals seem to have taken to you. If you could stay in town and maintain a public presence while I'm gone, it would do a lot to keep worries down over those few days."

Zelvo smiles softly and reached out to give Rashimi a comforting pat on the shoulder. "Ai, ai, ai. It's all good, Rashimi. Knowing our luck, you'll get your chance to duel at least one of'em if they're gonna be that committed to causing trouble for Sandpoint and the region itself. /Not/ that I'm hoping mind you, but ya know." He throws out a hapless shrug before regarding the Sheriff. "It's prolly needless to say, but I think we can certainly do that Sheriff. And may Lady Desna see you and your men safely on your journey."

The few days before the meeting, Kraig spends his time on drills and exercises, honing his skills at keeping hidden. Each evening into the night, the party could find Kraig in back behind the Rusty Dragon inn with makeshift wooden statues in the shapes of goblins, humans and a giant boar with precise, calculated marks painted on the wooden figures for particularly vulnerable points in their anatomy. He spends sleepless hours firing arrows at the most deadly points in the hopes of preventing another close call like the boar hunt.
At the meeting Kraig listens intently with rapt fascination of Shalelu. "Aye, we cn' hold down tha' fort while ye' gather reinforcements. Wha' sor' o' resources are we privy to, in case of another large assault? I Imagine if they are being organized as well as ye' say, they most assuredly will attack when they see you leave, expectin' a reduced presence."

"That... oh shoot, that's actually a fair point."Zelvo comments, only to moments later looking a touch sheepishly at the Mayor. "Not that I, er, we wanna cut into important resources for those that remained of course. But, uh... "He shrugs haplessly. "Whatever could be spared in a pinch be nice. Tho', it ain't like we're, uh... I think the words would be like deputies? Hired hands? Whatever it be, it ain't like we're that, so I'd understand any reluctance there. Still! "Actually, deputies describes your situation pretty well. I can't really say that there's much in town, if there was I wouldn't be heading down to Magnimar. And we don't really have much in the way of fancy magic weapons or anything like that here, but I'll make sure to let Hannah know that any potions you buy from her are on my tab when I get back. But the remaining guards here will answer to you in the meantime. I'll have an order sent out before I leave."
(Moving things along)
The rest of the day, as well as the day after go smoothly. It's on the morning of the third day that you all are woken up by Bethana Corwin, a timid old halfling that you've all seen working for Ameiko while staying at the Rusty Dragon Inn. "Can I speak to you all in private? It's about Ameiko. It's rather important."
Though a touch floored by the conclusion of the meeting, Zelvo eventually recovered and would see to it(along with anyone else that wish to) the day hadn't ended without their at least hitting up Hanna for some potions. At least 3 in total (one for everyone but Zelvo) and a healer's kit if at all possible on the guard's tab. But with little else special in mind than waht he'd already being doing for the people, the day to follow would carry on without him breaking routine until...
"Truly? Uhm... well of course." Zelvo hops from whatever seat he'd happen to occupy and readily follow the halfling.

Nina seems absent the day following the meeting with the Mayor. Any attempts to reach herby anyone other than Rashimi would simply be ignored and her door would remain locked until the following morning. When called to a meeting, a drow man would instead take her place. Plucking a blue-ish black feather out of his long black hair, he would tuck it into his dark brown boots before adjusting his simple white tunic and jacket. After a moment, he'd give the sleepy Rashimi an awkward half smile and nod before tucking his hands into his pants pockets, his light blue eyes studying the others as well as Bethana.
"Certainly. Sorry we are late. Had to tidy up quite a bit of feathers from last night... Are they alright? Ameiko?"

"We could go, find out who their leader is, and duel them," Rashimi suggests a little bloodthirstily.

"Unfortunately, it's not that simple. There are currently six goblins in the region that have managed to attain the notoriety that elevates them to being heroes among their people." She begins counting off on her fingers.
"And that's why I'm taking a few of the town guard down to Magnimar to request some additional soldiers, at least for a few weeks until we figure out the scope of the situation." The sheriff adds. "I know that you want to get out there and deal with the goblins, but the locals seem to have taken to you. If you could stay in town and maintain a public presence while I'm gone, it would do a lot to keep worries down over those few days."

Rashimi grumbles under her breath, something about challenging them all to duels, but acquiesces. "Okaaaaay."

"May she be with you as well." The sheriff and Shalelu depart, leaving the four of you to your own devices.

"That... oh shoot, that's actually a fair point." Zelvo comments, only to moments later looking a touch sheepishly at the Mayor. "Not that I, er, we wanna cut into important resources for those that remained of course. But, uh... " He shrugs haplessly. "Whatever could be spared in a pinch be nice. Tho', it ain't like we're, uh... I think the words would be like deputies? Hired hands? Whatever it be, it ain't like we're that, so I'd understand any reluctance there. Still! Doesn't change anything for me. If there's anything else as well ya need us for or we aughta know, I'm all ears. Otherwise, uh... I probably should get back to helping out at the temple."

Any attempts to reach her by anyone other than Rashimi would simply be ignored and her door would remain locked until the following morning.
Ameiko?"
