"It will be easy enough to fly down and see, and faster then climbing. All the better for our mission as Jek has said to investigate now while we have the chance." Bright-wing seems to nod in accord and circles the chasm preparing to dive.
"Very well, fellow Remnants. But be careful, I do not see any path down, which means whatever lives down there is likely capable of scaling the chasm wall. That makes me think of the Ghoma", Rum replies as he motions for Barley to take flight. "And they were anything but friendly".
Taking their winged mounts over the edge of the chasm, it becomes clear to the Ardent Remnants that the lights are not eyes or anything other than dim lamps lit in hovels that are built right into the sides of the chasm itself. There are people stirring inside that they can see, though it's hard to tell what they are without a closer inspection. Dozens get close to the windows to look out at the soring band outside. Some lights wink out as the people inside hide from the airborne party.
It's clear from observing the rope bridges up close that they're in good repair...even if they're impossibly long and horrifyingly high above a drop into infinite nothing. There are landings on either side of the bridges, giving them a place to set down, but also entrances into the structures along the sides of the chasm...
Rum directs Barley to do a bit of a sweep of the chasm wall, assessing the area and looking for any sign of defences. Not that living on the wall of a seemingly bottomless chasm was not defence enough, but the fact there were landing platforms meant they did get visitors.
"Once we are sure it is safe, I see no reason why not, Lady Kaede", he shouts back in reply.
"It appears to be a dwarven settlement, fellow Remnants. They look cautious with some being armed, but I do not believe they are hostile", Rum shouts across to the others.
Prior to taking off, Jek will call Wo-Dan, Lady Kaede, and Amitola close, then says a prayer to the Bright Lady. "Bright Lady, give my friends sight beyond sight." They feel a warmth pass over there body, but it passes quickly. As they blink a few times, there vision becomes clearer. They can see far into the darkness. Jek smiles and says "You don't not need to fear the darkness with the Bright Lady in your hearts! Come on, lets go!"
Jek is mesmerized by the view of the land from up high. He responds to the others "Yes! Lets stop! This is very exciting! Wo-Dan, set us down!"
Wo-Dan turns Bright-wing to the landing where she touches down with a clatter of hooves. "Let us hope these people are friendly. I would hate to fall from here."
It's clear that a fall would almost assuredly be a death sentence as the mounts close in on a large rock platform that is connected to multiple rope bridges. The chasm goes down and down and down a seemingly endless distance. Wherever it goes, you wouldn't want to get there by plummeting.
The people inside the stone structures look out over the band as they land, but none of them venture out to meet them. They remain hidden in the relative safety of their domiciles...
Wo-Dan remains on his mount to keep watch, rubbing his fingers against the side of his head he looks through the eyes of his familiar that is slipping around unseen by the dwellings hoping to see where the leader of this 'village' may live.

Wo-Dan speaks over his shoulder to Jek, "These dwellings seem to run back into the stone, not just along the edges. I should image these cliffs are honeycombed with passages so there is no telling how many live here."
Rum directs Barley to land beside Bright-wing, and jumps down effortlessly.
He looks around before raising his voice.
"Residents of the great chasm, we mean you no harm. We are traveller's passing through, looking to trade information", he says loudly, holding his hands out in a sign that he comes in peace as he takes a few steps away from Barley.
His eyes scan the vicinity to see if any are listening and likely to approach.
Jek says a quick prayer to the Bright Lady for Guidance. He will dismount after Rum.
He addresses the people gathered, following up what Rum said. "Greetings! My name is Jek Utinni. We just wish to learn what is going on here, and to tell you about what is happening above. I am amazed by the beauty of this land and would love to learn more about it. I mean, I spent most of my life in a Desert, and let me tell you, that is booooooring. Ahh, but anyways. As Rum said, we mean you no harm. We are here to help if needed."
Amitola looks upon to the reactions of the crowd to Jek's introduction. Having been quiet, she chooses to remain silent to let the others react before herself, but accesses the situation in her head. She can't help to feel slightly stressed upon the situation, continuing to look between the crowd and Jek. She is trying to remain fully aware of her surroundings. Amitola feels the residents are of no threat unless they needed to be, but she is still hesitant.
There are murmurs in the darkness, and a few of the residents fade back into the darkness of the side of the chasm. A few more, however, step out onto the platform nearest the Ardent Remnants and slowly approach, their hands up. They start talking, saying things in a language that is not Common....
Rum looks around to the other members of the Ardent Remnants, "Fellow Remnants, do any of you understand this language?".
He remains kneeling, not wanting to make any actions that might be assumed to be aggressive, and turns his attention back to the natives and tries to read from their body language their intention.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lady Kaede dismounts, and removes her helm that is obscuring her face. Displaying a friendly smile, with her lovely locks tied up in a curt top knot with a flowing red ribbon, she is the sign of youth and calm. She takes a few steps toward the approaching group, also raising her hands to the side, palms facing them in a friendly manner. She pauses and bows in friendly greeting.
Using her newly awaited Elegant Courtier skills, she’s trying to non-verbally charm the residents into believing that we are no threat to them, and that we’re here in peace.
Following in step with the others, Amitola, as quietly as she can, steps forward. Looking upon her friends and their jesters to the group, she softly kneels and bows her head down. While dropping her head, she places one hand on her knee and drops the other beside her, showing her hands are empty and doing her best to show that she means no harm. Raising her head back up slightly, but remaining in her place.
There is more talk from the strange locals and their foreign language. These people, almost all small, grayish colored dwarves with white eyes, are unlike the folk of the world above. Their language and locks are enough to set them aside. It's hard to tell if it's Amitola's submissive display, or Kaede's highly effective and well thought out display of good tidings. Whatever it is, these people step forward and holds their hands out to their sides, palms up and empty. It doesn't take a language expert to realize they're showing the fact that they are not armed.
One of them steps close to the mounts, inspecting them with eyes that had never seen such things before. That one looks to another nearby and then points up, toward the ceiling of the underdark, and murmurs something in hushed whispers...
Rum looks to Ro questioningly before saying, "If we cannot understand these people, there is little information we can trade, fellow Remnants".
"I certainly do not think they are a threat", he adds looking at the grey dwarven folk in front of him.
He looks to Jek and Ro. "If neither of you speak the language, perhaps some visual method of communicating. Pictograms and the like. Can you do that with your magic?".

Kaede points to one of the landing spots in a centralized area, and shouts to the others “Shall wet set down there and introduce ourselves?”
