Shavaris calls back over her shoulder, "What if it isn't a ploy? What if the person caught can be world changing themselves?"
And she catches Ward's eye and smiles at him as he turns invisible. She pets Running Bird's head and whispers to him, "Keep an eye open, good friend, these woods aren't right."
Shavaris wait… is all Johnathan can say before Shavaris starts riding into the woods. Johnathan looks to the others. This is clearly a trap. Huh. Johnathan pulls out his hawk familiar from his pocket and looks to the other members of the dawn guard. Well we have no choice now. Let’s go. He looks at Dageron, sensing his dislike in this. You may not like it but she is our friend. We have survived but not abandoning one another and that won’t change today. Johnathan turns to his familiar and whispers in his ear. Echo, follow Shavaris. Make sure she doesn’t get into trouble. With that the eagle starts flying with Shavaris in the woods. Johnathan also avoids the trees and plant life and will use his cloak flight speed whenever he is in dim light to try and catch up to Shavaris.
As Johnathan is travelling through the woods he occasionally stops to sense through Echo’s senses. For most of the times he quickly returns to running, seemingly seeing nothing worth mentioning. However after a little bit he seems to stop for a little longer and mutters something but it isn’t loud enough for anyone to hear.
To Shavaris
As she approaches the source of the noise she feels the hawk fly close to her and speak in Johnathan’s voice. Shavaris, try and wait your us. We are not far behind. We can deal with this together. I’m telling the others now”**
After a few seconds he returns to his senses and looks to the rest of the group. Shavaris has found the source of the noise. A plant is eating a kid. I’ve told her to hold as we regroup but I don’t know if she will listen. Also don’t touch the vines, that’s how the kid got caught. With that Johnathan will move as quickly as possible to regroup with Shavaris.

As Shavaris enters the clearing and sees the source of the cries, she unsheathes her new weapons.
As she pulls the scimitars from their leather cases, the crimson color that drips from the blades glimmers as it catches the sunlight through the woods. Shavaris catches the words imprinted in the blades, one marked Sickand one marked Twistedand it makes her smile.. What she doesn't notice is that the brown hair with the shock of blonde on top of her head changes to a cascading color of scarlet that matches the blades.
Not wanting the extra challenge of throwing these off a moving Dire Ostrich, she squeezes her thighs and murmurs "whoa"
Running Bird immediately stops in his tracks and as soon as he does, Shavaris whips the scimitars through the air towards the plant.
Attack: 27 Damage: 13
Attack: 12 Damage: 9
Sneak attack damage if hit: 6
Once released and sent forth to the attack, the blades spin around and return to Shavaris.
She then calls forth Eloise to appear 15' closer to the plant, then moves her 15' towards it.
When Dageron starts to talk about burning down the whole forest, the forest near where he grew up, Adam says “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa Mister Ironbritches. We are not on a burn and destroy mission here. We can accomplish this without setting Eternia to the torch. I won’t have it. There are other ways…” He looks south toward Falcon Crest, considering, shaking his head.
When Shavaris starts to sense something in the woods that look strange to him, Adam has no hesitation, he hops on the back of Ironsides and follows after her. “Hold up Shavaris, we are coming with you. We aren’t reliving the Labyrinth and the bog here baby, this isn’t going to go down like that. Careful. Remember that predator ******* is probably lurking out there still somewhere.” Adam urges Ironsides on….

Travin, who had been following Shavaris closely as she disappeared, readies his gun, preparing to fire upon anything that seems outwardly hostile as he reaches the clearing.

First, there are two birch trees that have died and fallen in the clearing. The branches stick out to the sides and up in the air, creating difficult terrain that impedes anything that tries to cross it.
Second, there are numerous trees that are all variations of colors, with a few fat plants growing beneath them. Writhing vines squirm along the edges of the clearing in several places.
Lastly, there is a plant on the far side of the clearing. It's own squirming tentacles have a child hoisted above the ground as the vines struggle with it. Shavaris overhears Dageron's warning and now that the child wasn't in immediate threat, she calms down a bit. She stays on her ostrich and moves him forward to the second downed tree, keeping her distance from the vines that she sees.
She has Eloise move her full 30' towards the child and then whips her blades toward the freaky fat plant again.

A thoughtful rub of the chin and Dageron nods. "Thank you Ward, for filling in those gaps. So, to summarize: the towns and villages are sparsely populated, mixed in race, under enemy command, do not trade with the Labyrinth, and hold no real strategic value?
"If all of that is true, then I would sweep around to the northern shore and, using magic and whatever other means at our disposal, ignite a series of massive fires along the north coast tree line. We would continue for days, ensuring the entire span of this part of the landmass was aflame. We would do so at a natural shift of the wind southward, of course, or when a prevailing counter wind would be at its weakest. The resulting fire, if properly initiated, would feed itself as it grew, spreading south with ferocity in its hunger.
"This would accomplish many things at once. Whatever impact the leaking Labyrinth could have on the surrounding area would be cut off from living things to corrupt and would burn us clear sight lines to the labyrinth itself. The already corrupted life, be it from the Labyrinth or the enemy, would be driven southward into the enemy in an uncontrolled panic. Enemy strongholds relying on locals for food and supply would be starved out and forced to withdraw from the area. Enemy patrols would be significantly easier to see from a distance. The enemy held communities would create a refuge crisis as they too ran south to stay ahead of the fire. Such a crisis could serve as a vital source of allies. The enemy has no care for the weak or destitute, and that antipathy would fuel open rebellion which the King could support with logistics and supplies.
"If no magical force prevented the fire's spread, and we were successful, we will have bought ourselves precious time to resolve the Labyrinth issue while allowing the chaos to take hold for our enemies in the south. We could then move south once the Labyrinth issue is resolved, and hopefully with a force of ready allies from the Labyrinth in support, and initiate a sweep of search and destroy missions against enemy patrols, remaining strongholds, and surviving settlements. If the masters of the Labyrinth were allies, we could also use their food and succor as aid to newfound rebels, making it the most important stronghold in the north"
He meets Shivaris' eyes, "That is what I would advise."
Delphinium's wings flutter angrily. the more they listen to this plan of fire and burning forests and homes of people just because they don't have whatever coin or money thing big people want makes them not matter. "If you try to burn down an entire forest I will kick your ass. You're one of those big people that think everything has to be worth something. Just because the forest animals don't carry your way too big coin things doesn't mean they don't have value! Let's just beat up the bad guys town by town and I bet we get lots of people to join us fighting them. As to the magic thing with the labyrinth, who says its a bad thing? I'm still pretty sure this isn't the labyrinth's magic. If we can fix it we will if we can't, well it probably just means folks are having a more interesting time. We can check with Jerath if the magic leaking causing a real problem or not." They flutter away from Dageron and its clear the fairy was not impressed at all with their fire plan.
“We don’t need fires. The only thing these towns need is freedom. They aren’t joining out of support, they join because they can’t mount a resistance. We can. I have the resources with a few more bottles of lightning to make large and impactful attacks on enemy legions. If I can get ahead of their advances I can sit in the air on the carpet and craft fletchette containers, the. Drop those and lightning bottles on our enemies. I don’t want to risk harming these towns, the people don’t need that. If we can show them Vaders troops can be felled that will be more than enough. I began that process when we killed their hunters, i told them to watch and if they did they know that they aren’t invincible. As well we don’t know where their troops are. Besides the damage to the forests as well, even if they are infected they can be cured with time, there is no need to burn the forests into ash. “ Ward says showing the carpet and paint bottles. “We can start a rebellion, but we don’t need to put civilians in the line of fire to do so, if we cut off the heads the rest will be weak and helpless.” Ward finishes, almost zoning out for a moment and looking through Dageron before he comes back to himself.
Delphinium nods and says "Oh, I like this plan, yep. Like ward says lets just go bash some heads. I can summon a big nasty storm over wherever they have most of their army stationed. I bet they won't like that." Delphinium continues to look around the forest for signs of other forest critters. Curious about the balance of nature here. As Ward mentions curing the forest delphinium asks "I am curious where all the forest animals have gone. Wolves in particular I think would like these blood plant things. All we've seen is that monkey though. Something isn't right here."
The fairy seems to continue examining around and keeping a sharp eye out as Johnathan also voices no to burning the forest. Delphinium is so proud of the dawn guard. they are learning how to get along with others! "I'd love to explore more but we need to be busy right. So, fighting evil troops or heading to the labyrinth. I'm happy with both. I guess I'd lean towards going to the labyrinth though so we can say hi to our friends." Delphinium seems far more distracted then late as they continue to buzz about on their dragonfly wings.
As Travin continues, however, Shavaris's face turns into a frown. "You feel the Dawn Guard will die if we go through this forest? I would like to try and help this forest if we can... it just doesn't feel right leaving it like this. But I'm open to what others want to do to get to the labyrinth." she then turns back to Dageron, "Except for burning everything down."
"Nah, we won't die. forest might not like us though. I'm not familiar with it either. I agree if this isn't how the forest is supposed to be and we should help it." Delphinium beams a bright color of blue for Shavaris. It is then that she mentions something about hearing a crying noise. Delphinium immediately perks their ears and looks in the direction Shavaris was indicating.
First, there are two birch trees that have died and fallen in the clearing. The branches stick out to the sides and up in the air, creating difficult terrain that impedes anything that tries to cross it.

Seeing Shavaris and Ward moving to intercept the hungry plant delphinium dives for the child to help them. Their aura expands and bright blue light surrounds them in a ball of playful energy. Like a streaking beam of light the blue ball gets over to the child in a matter of moments and Delphinium hovers right in front of them between them and the tree. "I'll help you kid! I'm Delphinium. Stay behind me and I'll guard you." Delphinium then thinks of multiple fists all summoning around them and their blue aura is aimed at knocking away and harming anything that seems hostile. Johnathan stops in his tracks once the plant is in sight. He points to the plant and casts Eldritch blast, though it looks drastically different than when the party last saw this spell. Also it seems that he is able to cast the spell at much greater distance than before. Instead of these black flames that he used to do, Johnathan emits a bright white light that gives a weird warm sensation to anyone nearby. The beams steak forward towards the plants.
The glaive and the eldritch blasts, both of them, riddle the planet, ripping it to shreds. It continues to make its disturbing undulating movement, complete with choking sounds, as it swings about the trees. Then it continues its blathering, awful screams for help.

Also it seems that he is able to cast the spell at much greater distance than before. Instead of these black flames that he used to do, Johnathan emits a bright white light that gives a weird warm sensation to anyone nearby. The beams steak forward towards the plants.
Movement: 30 feet
Action: Eldritch blast (range 300 feet)
Beam 1: To hit 22. Damage: 10
Beam 2: To hit 26. Damage: 8
The glaive and the eldritch blasts, both of them, riddle the planet, ripping it to shreds. It continues to make its disturbing undulating movement, complete with choking sounds, as it swings about the trees. Then it continues its blathering, awful screams for help.
The child, dropped by the plant, stands up between Delphinium and Ward, then chooses the fairy for some reason, swiping at Delphinium with a cold hand and dead eyes...

Dageron nods at Travin, his concentration remaining on the enemy - and the perimeter. "I will try to aid our comrades." He raises a hand and says, "Golfeki!" A crackling energy surges towards the plant...
(( Action 1 = Spell Attack = Guiding Bolt + Bardic Inspiration = 17 to hit, 12 to damage - if hit, the next attack roll made against it has advantage ))
(( Action 2 = Spell Attack = Guiding Bolt w/Advantage = (Nat 1 to hit if no advantage conferred from prior attack, otherwise..) 23 to hit, 13 to damage - if hit, the next attack roll made against it has advantage - again ))
Shavaris sits on Running Bird, stunned, as she watches the child attack Delph. Thinking fast, she swaps places with Eloise, the ghost sister now sitting atop of the dire ostrich. Shavaris then moves to the child and attempts to grapple him.
