Peering into the southern cavern, Galben can clearly see a fire in the center of the space, still burning but mostly reduced to coals. You can also see piles of sacks and crates on the far wall opposite of the entrance. Most are marked with the image of a blue lion. You do not see any enemies in this space, but you feel sufficiently confident that they are indeed lurking in the shadows around the edges, waiting to ambush anyone who enters. Other than Goblin 3 that you saw run into the space, you cannot gather any further intel on what is in the cavern from this vantage point.
OldMan - "Bearkiller you have the lighted rock that Regula enchanted. Toss it into the room to help get rid of the shadows so we can see what might be in there."
From this advance position, you can see just a bit more of the cavern, noticing two goblins crouching behind the crates and supplies on the far wall, which provides them half cover (+2 to AC and Dex saving throws). You can also make out two stalagmites to the west and additional supply crates to the east but cannot see anything further without entering the cavern.
As you move onto the steps, you hear a deep, gravely voice shout from from somewhere in the cavern, the sound reverberating from all directions: "Who dares defy Klarg? Stop hiding like little mice and come face us, you cowards. Klarg will build a throne from your bones, puny ones!”
Jake steps behind Thallan, just within sight Goblin 5, and whispers "Benevolent Ilmater, may the blessings of your light rid the world of darkness like this scourge of goblins. Third times a charm!" He lets loose sacred flame once more at goblin 5.
Jake's does a little dance as the radiant flame lights around the goblins head, but catches himself before he gets carried away. "Strike sure, strike fast, strike hard! Let's get these goblins!"
(Galben draws back his arrow and takes aim at the wounded Goblin 5. As the arrow flies through the cavern it splits two supply boxes defending the beast and enters the front of the Goblins throat and exits out the back of its neck. The Goblin looks at his partner with feather fleching sticking out of its throat and falls onto the supply boxes in front of him.)
(Attack roll 15+5=20, Damage: 2+3=5)
"Got one boys, who's up next!"
(Galben retreats behind the rock wall opposite of the rest of the group outside the cavern to make room for others.)
"Caution lads, this smells of goblin trickery, reminds me of a raid on Grog the fat, the wee devils tried to lure us into a cavern and into a crossfire."
OldMan agrees with Thallan that it is probably a trap but traps sometimes need to be sprung. These goblins have been no match for our band of brothers. Especailly now that Galben has gotten his sight back. "Nice shot Galben"
"Bearkiller throw the rock in so everyone can see and lets go get this Klarg. Remember they kidnapped someone and I'd like to rescue them before the goblins do something rash."
Let's have Thallan and Regula go in and one break right and one break left. Form two fronts (worked for the Germans twice). Then Galban and Bearkiller behind them with bows ready. Jake and I will follow with spells ready to fly literally.
"What if Regular and Thallan pick up those two dead goblins and use them as shields when they enter the room? Then they'd be hitting their own with those arrows".
"I think this plan makes sense. I will go in and break to the west, perhaps Bearkiller & OldMan with me. Thallan can lead a party to toward the east with Galben & Jake, protecting Jake as best you can. I can always come heal him if he falls. Galben - I think you should take the risk and see if you can make a hit on Goblin 4 before we enter. Be prepared for another retaliatory strike, though!"
Bearkiller's feeling frisky and tosses the lighted rock high into the cavern. Upon its decent, he reloads his bow and arrow and launches it at Goblin 4. He thinks it got the creature as it drops behind the crates.
Goblin 4 pokes it's head out from behind the supplies, laughing at Bearkiller's exuberance as you realize the arrow didn't hit (needed 17 to hit since it was behind half cover). The goblin draws its bow, sending an arrow flying at Bearkiller standing in the entrance (20 to hit, the attack is successful). The arrow pierces Bearkiller's shoulder, causing 7 points of damage.
You hear the Goblin cackle as it ducks back behind cover.
The room is now illuminated thanks to Bearkiller's lit rock; however, you cannot see to the sides of the room without entering the cavern, so you cannot tell anything further about what may be in the space.
(Galben moves over to the steps that Goblin ran up and looks down that path with his darkvision.)
(Perception Roll 18+4=22)
I move up toward the bridge and peer into the darkness ahead, seeing only the cave tunnel veering toward the west.
(Galben looks towards the group)
"Which way should we go?
OldMan - "Bearkiller you have the lighted rock that Regula enchanted. Toss it into the room to help get rid of the shadows so we can see what might be in there."
(Galben moves up to the top of the steps, but not into the room, and looks around. Bow drawn and arrow nocked.)
Jake steps behind Thallan, just within sight Goblin 5, and whispers "Benevolent Ilmater, may the blessings of your light rid the world of darkness like this scourge of goblins. Third times a charm!" He lets loose sacred flame once more at goblin 5.
And goblin 5 takes 3 radiant damage...

Jake touches Galben's arm again, casting guidance. "May your aim be true, and the goblin dead."
Bearkiller's feeling frisky and tosses the lighted rock high into the cavern. Upon its decent, he reloads his bow and arrow and launches it at Goblin 4. He thinks it got the creature as it drops behind the crates.
15+1=16 to hit, 8+1=9 damage
"Its about time we get this party started boys!"
