One of the crossbowmen lifts his hand from the wound in his side, only to see skeletal fingers emerging from the gash and digging back into his flesh in a deathly grip on his ribs. His screams ring through the tunnel. (Chill Touch)
Silas lashes out with the energy he wields, and stone cracks as the rats part just in time to avoid the blast.
The flames from Ashley's hands flare up and then compress into a narrow beam of super-heated air that whooshes over Joren and Marion's shoulders before blossoming out into a fiery blast that shoots down the hall, scorching all three remaining rats and the unwounded crossbowman.

When the fire dies down, the first two rats in the line are charred and twitching, completely dead. The last rat has been stripped of fur and skin all down the left half of its body, barely able to stand at this point. The man behind the rubble, however, was able to duck in time to take cover behind the rocks, and though half of his face looks reddened and his cloths are smoking, he seems ready to continue fighting.
The remaining rat limps forward, still resolute in its duty. But between the grease and the rubble, after it rolls onto its feet it is only able to make it just past Samir's fiery contraption.
Bonfire Dex Save: 11
The burned man (crossbowman 2) scowls and turns back down the tunnel and reloads his crossbow. He takes aim at Ashley and fires before grabbing the arm of his wounded ally and pulling him away down the tunnel.
Attack: 6 Damage: 1
As the man (crossbowman 1) stumbles along behind his comrade, he barks a command. "Guard our escape!" The two rat-men form up side-by-side between the crossbowmen and the attackers, backing up to keep pace with their masters as they prepare to strike anyone who comes close. Then the man reaches into a pouch on his side and pulls out something round and wrapped in cloth. He tugs the cloth away to reveal a fist-sized onyx orb. No sooner is the cloth off then an inky black darkness begins to gush out of it like a dense fog. He tosses the orb on top of the rubble pile, and the four of them plus Lancet are quickly obscured from view by the emanating darkness.
Meanwhile, the rat swarm flows around Silas's feet, and he at first thinks they are attempting to swarm him again, but he sees them rush past him towards Malachi's exposed flank as the try to surge over his body. (Dex Save DC 13)
As the blood splatters from the rats streaking across Silas and the walls surrounding him, he shouts out toward Malachi, alerting him to any remaining rats heading toward the Half elf.
Joren's eyes widen as he once again hears Marion's hymn and feels its healing magic. The contrast between the knight errant's purity and his own profanity stark and sharp like a blade against the skin.
Truly, I cannot be shaking the feeling that my mother, for all her sacrifice, was deserving someone more like Marion as her child, and less like me...
Ashley's fiery blast wakes him from his brief reverie and as he sees only one final remaining wounded rat. And the darkness enclosing the rat-men guards, covering the escape of Razmus' vile devotees. He sees a way forward.
"Training in blind fighting I am having - blindsight. If someone can kindly be removing this final rat, I will be charging into the darkness, and eventually past. Pursuing the enemy."
His attention focused toward the tunnel to his front, the smaller rats caught Malachi by surprise. Unable to dddge, he lets out a brief cry of disgust, hands pushing them away ineffectively, as the small swarm overtakes him.

Rat 6 Wis Save: 2
The heavily injured rat ignores the tolling in its head, desperately dragging itself forward though it know only death awaits.
Silas manages to take out three rats with two quick slashes, bringing the swarm down to only three rats remaining, though they manage to get past him and catch Malachi off-guard. With so few, however, they prove only slightly more than a nuisance. (6HP - 13AC < 0, so they do their minimum damage of 2 piercing)
Malachi squirms as he feels the rats crawl over his flesh, biting into his skin. “Rats! I hate rats! Filthy creatures” A thin dagger suddenly appears from the inside of his coat and he slashes at the remaining rats, trying to get them off of him.
In the wordless manner in which only warriors can communicate Marion immediately steps forward in response to Joren's request, her intent clear as both her and the half-dwarf elegantly swap positions allowing her to stand at the front of the line, then advancing on the last rat remaining before the sphere of darkness that now dwells further in. Shield raised, she comes in quickly, presenting the rat with as bulky an opponent as she can and restricting it's visibility of the space as much as she can.
A split second later she swings in low with her hand axe, angling the attack such that it was as hard as possible to see coming. Attack: 20 Damage: 6 (+4 for strength...which is mysteriously missing).

Turning his attention to Malachias he struggles audibly with the rat problem, Silas mentally projects his consciousness forwards attempting to invade the minds of the remaining rodent swarm, as he does this time he says nothing, he merely opens the gates and mentally links the rats to infinite vastness of the seas of the far realm causing a piercing monotone ring to fill the air around them, Toll the Dead Wis save 13 or 3 damage
Marion’s axe sweeps in from the rat’s blind spot, the left half of its face having melted away. The blow catches the rat right behind its jaw and severs the creature’s windpipe, ending its life swiftly.
Two of the rats on Malachi fall off and begin writhing on the ground, chattering incessantly. With a snap, they simultaneously break their spines in their convulsions and go limp. The remaining rat tries to find shelter within Malachi’s clothes, still crawling and biting frantically
As the rat crumples to the ground from her blow Marion quickly steps backwards, certain of the outcome and not wasting any time to check more closely. As she retreats once more she moves around Joren, making way to allow him to the front in a manoeuvre that both have likely practiced many a time before.
Joren notices Marion, a team player as ever, deftly cut down the final rat and make way for his own charge. He only has time to give her the briefest nod signifying (yet again) his acknowledgement and gratitude before he is advancing towards the magical darkness.
"Samir! Could you be turning off your... fire?" he turns and says loud enough to carry back to his companions, hoping that the half-orc artificer douses the flames. Regardless, Joren will still go through.
Joren first runs up to but not necessarily all of 30', into the black sphere, possibly getting almost all the way to the end of it. He remembers his training, reaching out with his other senses as he has had to do near the Veil itself, when blizzard conditions made the entire world white or gray (or indeed black, at night). He feels, rather than sees his enemies and other hazards through blindsight. With a running start, he jumps over the 10' are where Samir'sGrease still lies. He stops short 10' away as soon as he senses an enemy, presumably one or both of the rat-men set to guard the tunnel.
Scenario A: If Joren gets to within 10' of the rat-men using the 30' movement, he senses them and stops. He can only manifest his echo in a space he can see, so he can't 'leapfrog' the rat-men this turn in this situation. So in this case, he uses a bonus action to summon his echo just 5' in front of himself, between him and the rat-men and makes an attack from is echo's position with his greatsword. (See next post for attack roll - rolling with advantage if rat-men do not also have blindsight or something similar to see in magical darkness - then Joren can see them but they can't see him or his echo. But if they do have blindsight, then no advantage and please just take the first d20 die roll. Attacking more injured one if either is not fully healthy - can't remember.) He tries to position his echo so the rat-men have to get by the echo before they can get to him.
Scenario B: If Joren still does not sense the rat-men within 10' by the end of his 30' movement, he uses his action to extend his movement into a dash of up to 60', again stopping when he gets to within 10' of the rat-men. Presumably in this scenario, he gets to the edge or fully past the darkness. He still uses his bonus action to summon his echo 5' in front, between himself and the rat-men, again trying to position it so the rat-men have to get by the echo before they can get to him. No attack since in this scenario, he already used his action to dash, but if he does make it all the way past the darkness before he gets to within 10' of the rat-men, he shouts back to Marion and others to come through the darkness and join him in the fight.

(See post 618 just above. This attack only happens in Scenario A, I think. Rolling with advantage due to Joren'sblindsight in the magical darkness, assuming he can see the rat-men but they can't see his echo. But if the rat-men also have blindsight or something similar, then just take the first of 2 d20 rolls please.)
Joren runs into the darkness, trusting his trained senses, and dive rolls over the grease and through the large gap in the rubble. Coming out of his roll on the other side, he feels the nearby shape of a rat-man in his mind and lashes out through his echo, gutting deeply into its leg.
