Tests and Trials Game Thread

The tiefling gives Kroshav a long, steady gaze, then nods.  "You're good people, so I'll trust your spell.  Gamblers are ever less than honest, and while I am loathe to speak untrue words, I am no honest man.  I do not expect trust to come easily.  Do as you must."

"In the morning, I'll make an honest man of you, at least for a time.", Kroshav stands and nods before seeking his bed.

The golem standing in the corner could be a statue as still as it stands. The Librarian is clearly listening but she keeps her peace.

After passing through a number of destroyed barriers to the lower floors, some having clear claw marks and others with burns, everyone settles into their beds or bedrolls for a much needed rest. As far as they know, the snow continues to fall above them.

Nothing interrupts their rest and all wake up to the Librarian's notification that food is ready. She is continuing to get better at improving presentation and even smell but taste remains  challenge. Something that looks like bread tastes, more than anything, like sawdust. An apple, glorious like a painting of an apple, tastes vaguely like mushrooms and dirt.

The Librarian watches everyone come in, especially watching Kroshav, before excusing herself to focus on repairs and defenses noting,

"I will be listening and watching."

Cladmir came to breakfast ready for trouble, although he's not going to overtly show any signs of hostility.  Everything will depend on what Kroshav decrees.

He heads over to a nearby golem, after breakfast and says, "When you have time, can I get a few books pulled that I could read?  I want to learn more about undead.  The vulnerabilities and they weaknesses.  And also their special powers, like what the ghost did to take me out so darn fast."

Ernos heads for breakfast, feeling better for having slept without having to awkwardly cover himself up, though the meal is something of a damper on that mood, as is the suspicion directed his way.  Still, the tiefling shrugs it off.

The golem nods to Jaq's request, oddly since it doesn't really have a neck.

"I am now short handed, it may be a day or two before I am able to get them for you."

Kroshav had been up earlier praying, and when that was completed, he recalled Ealu and spent time reuniting with her and Charlie, reassuring her that he was alright, and that he was sorry she got got again.

Kroshav eats breakfast methodically. He finds that if he doesn't look at it, it's not as jarring when food tastes entirely unlike what it ought to. Once everyone is finished, he's ready to let Ernos earn a measure of trust.

"My spell will make it so you can't tell lies. It won't force you to speak, but you won't be able to say stuff that isn't true. If there are things you don't want to answer, you can just say 'I'd rather not talk about that', and we'll move on. Can't say that will get us too far though. I'll also put the spell on me, and invite any of the others you wish to ask questions of to do so as well. Trust isn't one way, you should be able to trust us as well. I think you telling us who you are was you starting to."

If all are in agreement, Kroshav will cast zone of truth.

Cladmir held his breath as he listened to Kroshav -- mind wandering to some of moments in life he was not proud of, before shaking himself of the thoughts.  He was a new man now and with new purpose.  If he is to assist this holy paladin then he, too, must earn the Dragonborn's trust.

Cladmir simply nods to show that he agrees to the proposal.

Jaq listens to Kroshav do his dragonsplaining about his spell and trust and then he just nods and gives a very slight nod and a shrug.  He doesn’t seem to be against it.   More indifferent maybe.

Ernos nods, "I seek to avoid speaking untruths in life, even when I do not reveal the truth.  This spell shall allow me to prove this to you."  Once the spell goes up, Ernos opts to fail the save against it.

The golem watching comments monotonically,

"I would like to the opportunity to ask questions, if that is permitted."

"Would you let questions be asked of you too?"

"Of course, I have been nothing but forthright with you and answered all questions I was able or explained why I would not. I will not be impacted by spell in my current location however."
