"Maybe griffons can't count so good, give them one baby back and they leave, run with other to the dragon, then when they get back and notice, they come looking for us?"

Thir is quiet for a long time and then offers,

"Maybe?"

Cladmir readily agrees with the paladin's super-genius idea.

"It's going to work, and I can return this noisy little guy here.  As long as we can keep the other one quiet it will work."

Kroshav gives Clad a comically large thumbs up while wearing the umber hulk gauntlets, his head only able to half turn to look at the old soldier.

Cladmir is going to wait a bit to see if anyone has any objections.  Otherwise he is gonna toss the wiggling fluffy thing out!

"I would suggest you be gentle with it, to not make the parents more angry."

As Kroshav proceeds with his plan of turning several smallish caves into a larger cave with many smallish entrances, Cladmir turns and tosses out his grifflet. Or at least tosses it in the direction of the entrance so as not to expose himself to the claws he's noticed reaching in.

(( Just in case the forum goes weird again, the roll result I see right now is a 10.  Maybe he would have tried harder if he saw Kroshav's thumbs up! ))

Cladmir drops the grifflet more than any sort of gentle placement and tries to nudge it towards the adult versions using his booted foot.

The grifflet, a bit ruffled from the flips, cave time and now unceremonious farewell, squawks angrily at the foot before waddling out of the crack.

No one but Cladmir can see what is going on through their slit of outside, but even Cladmir's view is soon blocked by a large body landing. Everyone, including Kroshav over the constant sound of grinding stone (though it is a bit harder to locate the source of for him), hears an odd version of a cat purring mixed with low whistling. Ernos' grifflet perks up at the sounds and tries to twist and go to the sound. All of the shrieking has stopped for the moment, at least.

The grifflet, feeling Ernos' grip tighten as it wriggles a bit, relaxes into the tieflings arms and somehow manages to fall asleep. Apparently dark means night, night means sleep. It has also been a big day...

Outside the griffons rustle about and the light comes and goes in the cracks as the large creatures move around. Occasionally there is short cry but over the next few minutes things seemed to have calmed down. In this time Kroshav manages to connect the cracks and make a small, cramped space filled with stone dust for everyone to join up.

Griffon intelligence: 9

A few minutes after that, the griffons appear to depart. Or at least move away from the cracks far enough they don't block the light.

Kroshav is spitting rock dust from his mouth, sticking out his tongue while his eyes are screwed shut, tears running clear channels through the dirt on his face. To anyone but Cladmir, he looks the farthest it is possible to be from wise and capable.
