Tests and Trials Game Thread

Oops...missed this.

Initiative:  17

Jaq will stealth into the tree/underbrush and shadows.   No one is awake enough or able to see him, but Jaq looks puzzled, and therefore, he stays quiet.  The bugbears could not be THIS scared of goblins.

Jaq lays low and wonders what actually chased the bugbears off when he sees a half dozen kobolds, bundled up in pelts, come creeping forward. They move a short distance past the goblins, who seem to try and get them to stop, before spotting Kroshav.

If the goblins were confused by Kroshav and the rest, the kobolds are absolutely at a loss. All six of them stop creeping and stand, looking at each other then back at the goblins. The kobolds start to gesture and wave in the direction of the camp while the goblins give noncommittal movements.

Kroshav isn't able to see the kobolds but does catch some words in draconic as the kobolds argument rises and drops in volume.

"Not them!"..."maybe just pretending?"..."went this way..."... "Idiots!"... "...dragon... hind legs?"..."kill us!"..."check?"

(wow, my memory is short!)

"What's going on? Who's out there? Are you allies of the vile Gethren?", Kroshav bellows in Draconic.

The kobolds fall instantly quiet at the mighty roar before starting up again a few seconds after,

"...Gethren?"..."vile?"..."not a dragon!"..."Yes!"..."..tell her?"

While they are conversing the bugbears leave Jaq's range of vision. The kobolds fall quiet again as a scream of pain is cut short to the south of group.

Slow to stir, Ernos drags himself upright, first recognising the scream, then the gathering of goblins and kobolds.  "What in the blazes is going on?"

Cladmir was finally roused awake by Kroshav and and fought his way out of the bedroll.  He though he hard a scream but he was also trying to process all the flickering shapes in the dark.  Not seeing any overtly hostile action Cladmir did not make any movements or raise his weapon but slowly moved his hand to his Warhammer and shield.  He then look to follow Kroshav lead.

Cladmir, being but mere human, sees nothing around the camp but does see everyone up and on edge. Well not Jaq, Jaq is gone...?

The goblins wince as one at the shriek to the south and hiss something at the kobolds, who seemingly pay them no mind. Something else is said and the kobolds look the north. The goblins then move slowly back from the camp and start to spread out. The trio are still visible to Jaq and Ernos and none of them have their bows readied.

Jaq stays quiet and hidden.  Can he tell what type of creature or race was that he just heard scream?   

((Give me a perception check, but it was definitely in the direction one of the bugbears headed.))

The kobolds hop from foot to foot, looking back at the goblins, around at the woods and squinting at Kroshav. One of them calls towards Kroshav in draconic,

"Who are yous? Why are yous here? Come to submit to her?"

The other five kobolds hiss at that one asking the question, and two scamper back to the goblins.

"I'm Kroshav, who are you? We're campin'. Who's this she you're talking about?"

 The kobold pauses to process the information before respond,

"I is Glim. What is camping? She is greatness! She is wonderfulness! The holy Barberry! You serve her?"

Jaq, focused on the interactions with the Kobolds, doesn't notice a slight breeze followed by a sweet feminine voice whispering in his ear.

"I prefer Berylberlia, but alas they can't pronounce it. Have you come to serve me elf?"

In the faint light of Kroshav's sword making it this far Jaq sees a glint of green scales.

4 Perception roll for the earlier scream.

"I do not know yet, Berylberlia.   I do not know enough about you.  I see great green scales, are you a beautiful and graceful dragon?"  He says this with awe in his voice....and quite loudly.

((Nothing new with that roll.))

"If you guess I am a dragon, you know enough to drop to your knees in supplication elf."

The honey sweet voice whispers back, and Jaq thinks he can smell her breath.

Should Ernos glance in the direction of Jaq's voice he would see a hulking form behind a large tree.

(since we are in initiative, not sure when you want/need a verbal response for that)

Ernos is, mostly, focused on the kobolds and goblins, but he's traveled enough to not keep his attention in one place, especially when there's been distant screaming.  As he's casting his eyes about, the tiefling freezes, slowly raising one arm.  "Jaq.  Very slowly, come over this way."  Eyes locked onto the large figure, energy sparks across Ernos' fingertips, ready to blast out if the thing moves toward the camp.
