Once Jaq recognizes that he knows the goblins, or at least one of them, he puts his hands out, palms up, with a look of wonder on his face.  He then points at the one he knows and says, "WOW.  Hello, what are you doing way out here?"  

He thinks about asking if the goblin is married now, but...doesn't want to risk it just now in case he was a flop in the romance department.

When Jaq speaks, the other goblins who had been focused down the trail all turn to look at the elf. Most of these goblins look unsure as to what is happening and one just turns back to look the direction she had already been looking. The rest turn to look at the addressed goblin who gives his companions a quick glance and tiny shrug before saying,

"Uh? I lives a couple..." He reconsiders whatever he was going to say and instead says, "I lives close."

He then points,

"What doing here? No live here."

((And by this point I would think the rest of the crew will trot/stumble into the goblins.))

The change in numbers clearly spooks the goblins and most start reaching for weapons, including the talking goblin,

"Why all here?"

The goblin more focused on what is going on ahead turns and glares at the talking and hisses something angry sounding, but the talking goblin (Toblin if you will) doesn't respond or look at her.

Kroshav vibe check (insight): 12

"Whoa...easy, easy...", Kroshav says, keeping hands away from Sword and gesturing calmingly, as much for Ealu, Clad and Ernie as for the goblins.

Kroshav immediately picks up that things are tense. The goblins were startled and, while Jaq seems to be talking with one, they look like they are only a half a misstep from kicking things off.

Kroshav, fortunately, saw the goblins before Sword. Sword immediately interrupts a long, bored sigh she has been maintaining for at least an hour to give frantic, excited suggestions for Kroshav,

Ernos glances around and scratches his cheek, "So, we friends then?"

Cladmir sees Kroshav move his hand away from his sword so he decided not to reach for his mace.  He does hold on tight to the shield though.

Kroshav Persuasion: 6

Kroshav gives a charming smile.

The goblins take in the group of interlopers complete unpreparedness for a fight and lack of weapon drawing. A few confer with each other quietly before turning their attentions away and back to the direction of the path the group has been following.

A couple confer with Toblin who, releases his weapon and mutters something back and gestures at Jaq and Kroshav before waving dismissively at Ernos and Cladmir.

After less than half a minute the tense situation is diffused as the goblins, excluding Toblin and one other, go back to looking ahead and slowly moving that direction.

Toblin repeats himself, still annoyed,

"Why here? No from here? Why here?"

"We came across some dead bugbears and an ogre, they were all beyond what I can heal, but there was a trail of some who made it out. Are you following the same one?", Kroshav says truthfully.

He looks the little folk over for signs of injuries.

(Did the golem that we followed to initially come to this area, come from the trade with this goblin?)

The goblins all look hale to Kroshav's eye and Toblin listens closely to the dragonborn. He considers it then asks,

"We follow. Why you follow?"

He narrows his eyes,

"Who help?"

"I'm Kroshav. Kroshav Xjindraakvar.", the big dragonborn says, extending a hand in greeting. 

To Toblin, Jaq says, “from the trades we did in the cut, we followed the one item here. The strange (grey?) rock like man (or whatever the golem looks like).   What brings you this far?”   

Cladmir is a bit wary because he is a bit out of the loop as to any previous acquaintance between the party and the goblins -- although it was quite obvious that their deference to Kroshav was due to the noble paladin's gracious generosity.

Clarmir did note, though, that they *did* blast a goblin recently (well, Ernos did at any rate), and decided that he would try to do a quick scan on these goblins to see if they were carry anything with the same sign as the pouch (?) of the dead goblin.  

Perception: 22

Any idea of deference to Kroshav is wiped away when Toblin looks at the dragonborn's hand and just leaves it hanging. The goblin shifts focus to Jaq with narrowed eyes, clearly still suspicious,

"Why little rock like man come here?"

((@Row, Toblin did already say he lives somewhere nearby-ish, were you wanting to push him on where exactly?))

Toblin looks over his shoulder at the other goblins, most of whom have moved away to where the Woblin (woman goblin) is and then follows up with a more quiet but more insistent,

"Who you help?"

Cladmir looks over Toblin and the other nearby goblins and doesn't see any symbols or signs of any kind. Mostly just furs and brown leather with something grey/white smeared on it.

Kroshav doesn't let it bother him, they must not be handshakers. 

If Toblin is addressing Jaq, Kroshav will step back and pat Ealu's mane.

(No, not trying to push him into an answer of where he lives.  Am truly being friendly and trying to get some allies here)

Jaq nods and smiles and answers, "We followed the rock man and he brought us over there.  (He points in the wrong direction away from the Library.)  I don't know why it took us there.  It just went there and then it stopped moving any further."  Jaq glances at Woblin quickly and then back to Toblin, and smiles knowingly, hoping that they were now a couple because of him.

Looking at the Woblin he answers, "We help ourselves.  We are no one's slaves.   We did run into a dragon near here.  We are NOT on her side, if that is what you mean.  I fear she has bad things planned for us.  We are wary of her. "

Kroshav is trying to pay attention when Jaq mentions the dragon, to get a sense of how the goblins feel about here, if they know she's around.
