((Deception roll for the half truth on the golem please.))

A look of fear crosses Toblin's as he quickly looks to see who heard Jaq's proclamation.

One goblin, the one back with Toblin initially, also looks concerned and takes a few additional steps away. Another goblin nearer Woblin cocks her head and turns back towards Jaq and Toblin, eyes narrowing.

(High bad for you, good for goblins)

The goblin next to Woblin doesn't turn away but she doesn't approach either. None of the other goblins react, either having not heard or not understood.

Toblin turns back to Jaq and bears his teeth as he hisses quietly, but with feeling,

"We with dragon."

His eyes twitch between the party members,

"We slaves. You shut up or you dead and me dead. Maybe all clan dead."

The goblin next to Woblin takes the time this is explained to say something to Woblin who in turn looks back to the party and Toblin. Woblin says something and Toblin gives the party a warning look before turning and trudging towards Woblin to begin what is clearly a hushed argument.

Only two goblins remain focused on the party, one wanting to put some distance between himself and you and the other (the one that reported to Woblin) watching you icily.

Kroshav smiles a winning smile, one hand stroking Ealu's mane, while the other holds her tack... but where it could be dropped and a hand on Sword in a moment's notice.

Cladmir noticed the change in the mood but did not know what was happening.  He looked at Kroshav's winning smile and posture and surmised based on his long experience of soldiery that this is one of those times where things are balanced on a knife's edge.

Not changing his stance, with his hand still on the shield Cladmir slowly brings up his free hand to rub his nose and then let it hang lose in a position where he can easily grab his mace.

"The dragon hunts the bugbears.  We'll make sure no living bugbears remain in the dragon's forest.  If the ogres - or anyone else - attacks us, they die too."

((He's not really trying to be quiet, considering he's basically saying they'll do the dragon's job of getting rid of the bugbears, even if only by technicality)

Four heads, including Toblin's, turn to look at Ernos. The icy eyed goblin doesn't need to turn but begins whisper talking and in short order all of the goblins have turned to look at Ernos and the rest. Any goodwill created by Kroshav's culture spanning friendliness seems to evaporate as hands are again placed on weapons, clearly buying what Ernos is selling which is unfortunately violence.

Silence falls as Foblin takes a step forward and says something to Toblin, who just nods and translates,

"You kill bugbear AND ogres?"

Sword cries a warning, pretty much the same she has this entire time.

"If they try to fight us."

"Wait, who are you out here after?", Kroshav says, more than a little confused, as they'd allied with the bugbears, and now Ernie is talking about killing them... just when the dragonborn was starting to think the fiery fellow might be trustworthy.

Cladmir is a bit confused too, and chose the opportunity to look in the direction of Kroshav as the paladin spoke to scan the area behind the Dragonborn for any threat that may be lurking.  If things turns ugly then he will make sure to keep enemy's off of Kroshav's back.

At the same time he also tried not escalate the situation by keeping his hand away his weapon.

Cladmir sees a pair of goblins behind them, but they didn't exactly sneak there and are just as tense as before.

Sword is also mildly confused by the direction of things, but recovers quickly by suggesting,

Kroshav answers Sword aloud, clearly quoting from a tenet of his order. "I am charged to offer Compassion... 'Aid others, protect the weak, and punish those who threaten them. Show mercy to your foes, but temper it with wisdom.'"

He looks around at the goblin faces, how likely they are to take him up on his offer.

Jaq moves closer to Toblin without a weapon in hand.  Quietly he says, "Look, if you are slaves, we want to end that.   None of us believe anyone should be a slave to anyone else.  We could all work together to make that happen."

((Lot of cross talk here.

Can I get... I guess it's persuasion for Kroshav @Spider and I'm going to roll for how much the common speaking goblins make out of that.))

There is a long pause before Toblin and, presumably, the other common goblins start talking to those around them.

Toblin looks to Jaq and adds that for Foblin.

After a few more seconds of quiet discussion all eyes turn to Foblin. For her part, Foblin keeps focused on Kroshav. Her face twitches and she seems to deflate. She looks to Toblin and says something which Toblin translates,

"Fine. We not want fight old and small. We not want fight. Fine. How save? How... Stop dragon?"

There is a fair amount of shuffling amongst the goblins at what is said and icy eyes looks distinctly unhappy.

“Well.   At some point we will have to fight the dragon.   We already have other friends.  Now we have more.  (He indicates with his hands he means the goblins).  With many of us we can win.    
Who else does she use as slaves? “   

Toblin translates for Jaq and Foblin snorts and says, through Toblin,

"Everyone is slave to dragon. Just kobolds like dragon."

Foblin looks over her shoulder towards the fading sounds of fighting, and Toblin says,

"Some already fight. Ogres, kobolds, bugbears. Fight probably over now."
