Okay. You roll the boulder more than throw it, but as soon as it goes into the hole, two thick metal blades come crashing together, covering the entrance to the dragon's lair.
"Well," the one-eyed orc says, "anyone have a shovel?"
Stun, you dig around and discover a large, squarish block of masonry buried just below the surface. It appears this is where the blades were housed before they came shooting out to cover the entrance.
Meanwhile, the orcs keep digging. One of them breaks through the ground to uncover a cavern.
Eskee, you look around the masonry stone Stun has found and find a little catch lever and crank which resets the blades.
(OOC: Maverick, and ape has normal vision, but I will allow you to use your darkvision to investigate the cavern.) As you look into it with your darkvision, Maverick, you see a small cavern with two tunnels leading out of it.
Once the orcs dig the hole big enough, you are able to drop in and look around. What you see is a widening in a tunnel leading to the hollow tree trunk in one direction and a larger cavern in the other direction. The place you are at is about 25 feet wide and about 20 feet from the tree trunk, where the tunnel narrows to less than 10 feet. Roots stick out from the dirt walls as if reaching out to grab you. About 30 feet down, the tunnel narrows to less than 10 feet in the direction away from the trunk, but you cannot see anything other than darkness that way.
(OOC: I would guess Maverick has been an ape for less that 20 minutes.)
Okay, once you and Eskee figure it out, it is a simple thing to reset it, but providing a trigger such as the spider webbing is a bit tricky. Do either of you have some string or rope? maybe you could use some thin vines growing nearby. Roll an investigation check followed by a sleight of hand check.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“Good idea. I have rope we can use, but I think using the vines growing nearby is a better idea. I would think that way it would be harder to spot.” Eskee says to Stun
Roll a strength or athletics check.

Stun will say, "Well i don't have one but i know a trick i pick up...", Stun will get one all fours and start digging like a dog would.
Stun then turns around to everyone and says, "What? its either we start doing this or we climb back up the tree and start from there, again."
Eskee would like to take a look at the tree and see if he can disarm the trap that’s blocking the way.
Okay, Eskee, roll an "investigation" check to see if you can determine how to disarm the trap.
Meanwhile, the orcs begin using their axes to dig into the ground around the tree trunk.
Stun will continue to dig into the earth like a dog about to bury a bone.
As you dig, Stun, you hit something hard.

OOC: sorry for the delay. Sounds like we don’t still need it, but just in case

Maverick pokes his head down and looks around if it looks safe he drops in to take a more indepth look around.

Maverick gives an Ape noise and waving to whoever can see him that it is ok to come down.
Stun will attempt to reset the trap he found to hopefully use it for later before joining the rest at the cavern...
