Okay. All that Eskee can find out is that goblins have attacked several outlying homes in the area and the town council has called a meeting to discuss the situation. Do you want to try to persuade someone (like that pretty little halfling maid in the corner perhaps) into telling you more?
The little man wearing a baker's hat says to Stun, "Yes, sir, I do. They are in the back room getting ready to hear testimony about the recent goblin attacks. They should be making their entrance soon. Would you like a piece of cake while you wait?" He offers a plate with a large piece of what looks like chocolate cake with pink icing to Stun.
While Arhjan battles COVID, Asshrak will wait in the woods outside the village and keep a lookout in case goblins or trolls happen to come by.
Stun grabs the plate with the piece of cake with his mouth, mumbling to the baker, "Thanks! good to know we are at the right meeting place!"
He puts the plate neatly down on the ground, "Do you happen to know by any chance how does one properly have an audience with the console? My companions and i wish to speak with them."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Eskee looks to the maid Maverick points out. Eskee replies to Maverick, “Yesss, I will talk to her. I didn’t get much from the others, but Perhapsss you will have better luck. I’ll meet back up with you in a few minutes.”
Eskee approaches the young lady and says, “ Hello, please pardon my intrusion. I have awaiting the council when I struck by your beauty and had to come say hi. You, my dear, are absolutely ssstunning. I pray the gods have not been so cruel as to allow these goblinsss to bother you to much. I also vow to you the my friendsss and I will put an end to these goblins so that you can live in peace. For a beauty, such as yours should be allowed to shine not be forced to hide away. Maybe you have some information that would allow me to put an end to these goblins sssooner?”
OOC: I’m going to assume I’ll need to roll a persuasion check.
The young halfling maiden blushes at the compliments given by Eskee. "I don't know any more than most here," she giggles, "but I will tell you what I can. The goblins seemed to come from someplace north of here. They have chased most of the forest creatures away, all but the strongest and most resilient. Hunting in the Hilly Woods has been very difficult lately. A few homes on the outskirts of town have been raided and extorted for food and coin, but no one knows why. Where would they spend their money? The town council was only recently called to discuss this issue although these raids have been going on for months. Is there anything else you wish to know, my handsome flatterer?"
“You bring up a good point. I wonder what the goblinsss are doing with all this coin they sssteal.” Eskee says to the maid during their conversation. As she asks her question Eskee replies, “you’ve already been very helpful my lovely. Hopefully my friends and I will be able to take care of this goblin problem. Until then I pray that our paths cross again. To never look upon your beauty again would be truest tragic.”
Eskee finds Stun and Maverick and relays the information he got to them. He then finds a place to sit and waits for the councils appearance.
Maverick sits next to Eskee, props himself against a wall and says
”Not sure how long this will take but hopefully Stun plays well with the consoles and gets some good information then maybe we can go get some tasty Ale, sleep, and then go North to fix this goblin issue.”
Maverick closes his eyes and says “wake me when it’s time to go”
Stun wags his tail while thanking the caterer for this information. He grabs the piece of cake he left on the floor and heads to were Eskee and Maverick are sitting.
”Guys look, I got some cake!” Stun says after he puts it on the ground and proceeds to devour it.
After the massacre of the cake, he ask “they’re about to hold a meeting in here soon, what did guys find out?” Stun waits for a reply while liking the frosting of the plate
After a while, four elderly halflings come out from the back room and take seats set behind a table at the front of the room. The halfling sporting a short gray beard and bushy sideburns bangs a gavel, which looks very much like a miniature war hammer, on the table. "This meeting of the Town Council of the Hilly Woods will now come to order.
"Now," he continues once the room has quieted down, "as most of you know this meeting was called on account of the goblins which have been causing trouble hereabouts lately. What we're gonna do is listen to what you all have to say, one at a time, mind you," he says pointing the handle of the gavel at the crowd of halflings, "then we'll decide what to do about the goblins."
The next half hour or so is spent listening to various people who were attacked by the goblins, including a dainty, pale elf maiden wearing a white gown from the next valley over. The elf seems to almost glow with an unworldly luminescence, as if magnifying and reflecting what little light is in the room. Her voice is sweet and lilting, like a songbird. The leaders of the council refer to her as Polly Dove, though she seems to cringe a little whenever that name is used.
The name "Gub" comes up a few times, though no one seems to be able to ascertain the relationship between the hill giant and the goblins. Some suggest he is working with them, while others insist they confront the giant and possibly ask him to help rid the area of the goblins.
The issue of the theft of coins and other valuable metal objects is mentioned. One grubby halfling says the goblins probably have a forge or smelter nearby. He says he smelled and saw smoke in the woods over near Gub's valley. A younger halfling suggests the goblins are storing up treasure to appease the green dragon that he saw flying overhead recently. This comment brings out a few snickers from the crowd. "I assure you," the bearded council member says to the youngster, "we have no dragons in the Hilly Woods. If we did, we would know." He motions to the other seated council members, who nod in agreement.
Eventually, the father halfling you rescued and his family approach the table and give their story, telling how you rescued them when they thought all was lost. After he finishes his tale he points to Maverick, Eskee, and Stun, and the crowd moves away from you, leaving a clear path between you and the council table.
Eskee looks to Maverick and considers waking him up, but doesn’t. He turns to Stun and says, “we should let him sleep. He’sss been complaining about wanting ale and sleep for a while. “
Eskee approaches the table the council is seated at. “Greetingsss honorable council. As you’ve heard we were passssing through when we across this gentleman and his family being accosted by goblinsss. You’ve also heard that we may be able to help you with your goblin problem. It sounds like the best lead we have is to explore Gub’s valley and see what we can find out. Do you have any further information about the whereabouts of these goblins?”
Maverick opens his eyes and looks around confused that he is surrounded by halflings when they were not there when he fell asleep. He then looks and sees Eskee and Stun sitting at the table talking. He thinks to himself
“ Well I can’t walk up there now without looking like a complete ass, sooo I might as sell go back to sleep. Or at least act like it and listen to what’s going on”
"All the information we have about these goblins," the bearded halfling responds to Eskee's question, "is what you have heard here. Would you and your friends be willing to investigate these goblins? We, the town council, will provide whatever we can to assist you."
"Yes," a middle aged woman halfling seated at the table agrees, "and as owner of the local inn and restaurant, I will supply whatever food and sundries you might need."
"And as the best armorer in town," the burly, grubby halfling in a leather apron who spoke earlier volunteers, "I can provide whatever weapons and armor you might need."
"Well, there you go," the bearded halfling says. "Thank you Miss Tiffany and Gregg." He turns back to Eskee. "Visiting Gub the hill giant in the valley northeast of here might be a good starting point."
Eskee bows to the council and replies, “we will get to the bottom of thisss problem with hassste. We will gather our sssuplies today and set out at first light.” He turns to Miss Gregg and says, “ my dear if you could be so kind as to provide us a place to sssleep for tonight it would be much appreciated. As you can ssse some in our party are in much need of a good nightsss rest.” Eskee motions to Maverick as he says that last line.
Eskee turns to Gregg “I’m sure my friendsss will be more than happy to visit your shop and your generosity is very appreciated. However my needs are a little different. Is there anywhere in town town that sells items that may be useful to someone who pratices the arcane artsss?”
"Of course, you can stay at my inn tonight," Miss Tiffany replies, "although you might find the rooms and beds a bit cramped."
"We don't have a magic shop, if that's what you mean. Mister Lukas there," Gregg says pointing to the bearded halfling, "he's the closest thing we've got to a wizard around here."
Eskee turns to Tiffany and says, “thank you for your generosity. I’m sure we can make do with whatever roomssss you have.”
He turns back to Gregg, “No problem, I will make due with what I have.” Eskee turns to the crowd and says loudly, “Thank you all for the help you have provided. Ssssoon these goblinsss will no longer bother you.”
He turns to Stun, “I’m ready when you are.”
When Stun is ready to depart I’ll cast minor illusion and make it sound like someone yelled “wake up” from right next to Maverick.
When Maverick hears this he jumps up from his chair, knocking the chair backs and steps back stumbling over the chair and then stands straight up trying to play it off like nothing happened. “Yep what they said , no worries we’re happy to help.”
As you begin to leave, the luminescent Polly Dove approaches. "Excuse me," she says. "Did I hear you are going to the valley of Gub the giant? If so, I might have a few things which could help you. Do you mind if I meet you later at Miss Tiffany's Inn?"

Maverick, are you doing anything?
OOC: Maverick just there lol

persuasion check: 12
OOC: the dice do not seem to be in my favor lately. Fingers crossed my rolls get better.

Stun tells Polly Dove, "Any help would be efficient miss, can you tells us where to find this Inn?"
“I doubt they’ll have anything I need, but do we want to ssswing by the armorer before we head to the inn?” Eskee asks Maverick and Stun.
