I'll pull out a ration and throw it towards the bear and say "he looks quite hungry" while he creeps backwards slowly to search the farthest bandit from the bear.

The bear gobbles up the ration, and runs off into the forest. In the cave behind the bandit camp, you find 99 copper coins, 74 silver, and 13 gold, divided among several coin purses. You also find a scimitar, a light crossbow with 20 bolts, two sets of fine cloths, 50 feet of silken rope, 10 feet of chain and two daggers.

Orbis studies the items Yuron recovered and replays the encounter in his mind. "They don't appear to be well funded or trained. Yet they hold more coin than they're worth. I am no expert on matters ursine in nature, but the bear; it defended me. It should have ran away or attacked everyone. Something more ominous may be afoot here."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Leofir says "Hmm...I'll take 1 of the daggers if you would like the other one Yuron. Crude, but it serves a purpose. We should definitely take the rope and possibly the chain. These petty bandits don't need them anymore."
Responding to Orbis and puts his fingers to his chin in contemplation, "I'm guessing they simply robbed someone, although caging the bear is perplexing...unless they intended to sell it as well."
If possible, Leofir would like to use Thieves Cant to see if there's any hidden coded messages, symbols, items, or maps in their possession or at their camp to see if there's any clue about what they were doing. Otherwise he will drawn on his experience as a thief to see if he knows why they were here.
There are no secret messages or magic that you can find. It appears that these were just regular bandits. The cage does not seem to be intended for a bear. The equipment seems to have come from a caravan raid, perhaps on the wagon in the centre of their camp.

Yuron will pocket the dagger and nod to Leofir in acceptance. Once Leofir mentions they may have intended to sell the bear a shocked look will crawl across his face as mutter under his breathe "people sell live bears?
After the confusion leaves Yurons face he will say "what is our next objective?"
Yuron will strap the rope and chain to his back pack while they discuss.
Leofir ties his golden hair back into a ponytail to cool off after the quick fight. "These fools were just mere bandits. Fate simply caught up with them it seems." With his keen senses, Leofir hears Yuron's comment about selling bears, "Yes, exotic and ferocious beasts will fetch a handsome sum from the right buyer. Though I do not approve of it, personally. It's back in the wild where it belongs."
After hearing Shaa's remark, he says, "Oh we have delayed here for too long. Yes, let's continue on to Lance Rock." He attaches one of the daggers to his belt and makes sure the group gets the coins before dusting himself off and begins the walk back on the road.

Lance Rock is a narrow, twenty-five-foot menhir of bare, gray rock that juts eastward at a sixty-degree angle. It's visible for miles around. The menhir is gray granite, unlike the surrounding limestone. A few hundred feet south of the stone is a ravine choked with brush. A trail leads into the brush near a neatly-painted sign that reads:
"Come no closer
lest you catch
the disfiguring plague
that afflicts me!
The Lord of Lance Rock"
The trail continues down to a cave mouth. Another warning sign with the same message is posted by the opening.

Orbis studies the sign for a moment. "We are walking into a lie. Lies are the disguise of evil. There is something in this cave that does not want us to enter. That is exactly why must do so!" Orbis kneels and whispers a prayer then stands up, loading a bolt into his crossbow.
Yuron will notice Orbis pull out and load his crossbow and follow suit while saying "You guys really think something is going on in there? Best to be prepared."
The cave mouth opens into darkness from which a breezes blows, carrying the faint odor of death. Inside is a natural cave, its floor and ceiling uneven. The passage leads to the west, narrowing as it proceeds. Something lays on the floor 60 feet into the passage. As you approach, you realize that it is the corpse of a human male sprawled here on its back. It wears only leather breeches.

Yuron will present what he found to the group "Hey I found some stuff in that cave over there, any of you guys in need of this?"
"I don't." Shaa says moving to the cave entrance.
Shaa is going to search the bodies. Looking for signs of who they are and what they are doing here.
Also, he casts detect magic just in case and does a quick survey of the loot the bodies and the cave.
