"I am Snapjaw," the lizardfolk with his hands raised says. "I am leader of lizardfolk and enemy of dragon kneelers. We take supplies to village. They," he says pointing to the dead and unconscious snake people, "are ooahntee, snakefolk. They kidnap lizardfolk and bathe in blood. They make dragon kneelers like them. We only take supplies.
"This is mate Sunny," he continues, approaching and putting his arm around the shapeshifter. "Daughter of Suncaller, Shaman of lizardfolk village. Suncaller slain by bullywug leader and dragon kneelers; so, Snapjaw and Sunny fight dragon kneelers, defeat bullywugs. But village starving; so, we take supplies."
"Most dragon kneelers run away when lizardfolk defeat bullywugs," Snapjaw replies to Erephema. "Some stay at ruined castle and convince young black dragon to become undead. Dragon too young for ritual; so, they wait, feed it and build its hoard. Dragon kneelers make lizardfolk do their bidding, try to make lizardfolk slaves. Snapjaw and Sunny and friends fight back. Then snake people show up. Now everyone fights ooahntee."
Turning to his teammates, “We’ll, that’s a lot to unpack.” Looking back to Sunny and Snapjaw, “How far is your village from here?” Before, Valek finishing asking his question, he heads over to the sleeping Yuan-it. "Can they shape change, too?,” he asks, nudging it lightly with his boot.
“Agh!” Frustrated more with his casual misstep than anything else. “Stop it from escaping!”, shouts Valek.
Ignoring a face full of poison, Valek instinctively casts Sleep at the fleeing pureblood.
(ooc: @DM… I’m hoping to use my Warcaster feat, which allows for an opportunity attack, in the form of a spell only, as a reaction.)

Okay. As a reaction, you cast sleep as a first level spell, which is not enough to totally affect the yuan-ti pureblood; so, although it gets sleepy, the pureblood is still able to run away.
Kalisia uses a bat fur and small piece of charcoal to summon a large spectral bat. She whispers something in elvish, but with a thicker accent to command the creature. The creature immediately appears in front of the fleeing Yuan-ti Pureblood and bursts into a gigantic orb of darkness.
I was going to shield bash ‘‘em, so wasn’t expecting the Darkness,. But it works! Plus, I wasn’t sure I’d actually be able to catch up to it. So, my bad for not being more descriptive. At this point, I will dash to the other side of Darkness, putting myself between the fleeing pureblood and the direction it was heading, waiting for it to emerge.
Kalisia traces her fingers in the air to create invisible sigils while whispering something to no one in particular. Glowing symbols that vaguely resemble Espruar letters materialize out of thin air, gradually gathering together to form the shape of a time-bomb like gadget. With a quick gesture, Kalisia sends it towards the sphere of darkness to create harmless sensory effect of explosion. Her intention is to lure the Yuan-ti Pureblood out of the magically darkened area through trickery and terror.
As you cast your timebomb prestidigitation, you lose concentration on the darkness and it is dispelled. At the sound of the explosion, the pureblood falls to the ground and covers its head with its arms.
Erephema, I presume you have lost concentration on your darkness spell, also; so, now you have five confused lizardfolk staring at you. They are carrying packages with the symbol of a black dragon on them. Meanwhile, Sunny and Snapjaw are watching you and talking to each other in their own language.

"Snapjaw, I am Erephema, druid of the swampland. Tell us what you know of the Dragon kneelers"

"Lizardfolk village is a day's canoe ride southwest of here," Snapjaw answers Valek. "Yes, I have seen ooahntee turn into snakes."
The yuan-ti pureblood rolls over and casts poison spray right into Valek's face. Roll a Constitution save.
(ooc: I knew I should have just killed it. 😜)
Constitution save: 18
Valek takes 15 points of poison damage.
The pureblood gets up quickly and runs away.

Anyone else want to try to stop it?

The yuan-ti stops running as it is enveloped in darkness.
Depending on turn, initiative and other, Valek will dash towards the pureblood with the intent of subduing it for questioning.
You are able to get to the pureblood, but now you are caught in the darkness. Exactly how do you intend to subdue the yuan-ti?

While waiting for the darkness to dissipate, the yuan-ti pureblood pulls out its scimitar and prepares for an attack.
Erephema also gives chase to capture the pureblood.
"Valek if you can subdue it I can tie it up with a rope."

While you are subduing the pureblood, an elf ranger comes around the building. Welcome Lunaria!
