Reginald suddenly becomes aware that everyone is now on edge after Trem whispers something to Roxaria near the door to the cottage. He steps to the rear of the group and prepares for what may come.
The black mist surrounding Eline's fingertips becomes an icy blackish blue, as her frostbite cantrip is prepared. Quietly, almost desperately so, she whispers her incantation for the spell, and moves her fingers silently in their somatic motions. The tension in the air is palpable and thick, and her heart races, thundering a staccato rhythm as she awaits what happens next.
She also backs a few paces back, standing with Reginald.
There was something about those moments before a potential battle. A sense of anticipation so strong that it brings chill to the skin, hairs standing on end. Vauthok smiled savagely as his comrades began to prepare in various ways, ready for whatever may be ahead. The giant set the maul aside and drew the massive sword from its sheath across his back, moving to the front of the group to Roxaria’s side. It was best to stick to the weapons you were comfortable with when only the unknown stood across from you.
Eline draws one of her own daggers, an heirloom pair of weapons passed down through her family line to her. She waits at the back of the group with Reginald to enter.
Trem nods to Vauthok and Kha. He signals for them to enter, the strong ones first he thinks. He will follow them hoping that Roxaria will come along with him. He sure hopes Eline stays in the back with Reginald.
As the party enters through the door they see 6 cloaked elves appear to have ransacked the shop and are searching through the broken debris on the floor. The furniture, shelves, and front counter have been smashed, and the shop’s wares now litter the floor. This area is difficult terrain thanks to the debris covering it
The elves are scattered about the room. The 3 closest to the party brandish their scimitars and the 3 in the back pull out their crossbow. 2 take cover behind the overturned counters giving them half cover. Skirmisher 1 is to the left. Skirmisher 2 is in front. Skirmisher 5 is to the right. The 3rd crossbowmen stands by the back door.
