Yeah, let's do this carefully. Maybe we can even avoid hostile actions.
Roxaria nods affirmingly to Trem, “I trust you.”
When they arrive to the Town Hall, Roxaria turns the bandit in to the authorities and informs them to send a graves unit to care for the bodies and to be careful with Verla Pelc as she suffered from the Frozen Sickness that afflicted Urgon. She seeks out Erlo afterwards.
Kha follows along, helping Vauthok make sure their prisoner doesn't run off and trying to make since of Roxaria's ramblings. "So, does that thing do anything else besides poke things? You make it sound like it's special in some way. Didn't Regi put a keen eye to it and didn't find much special about it? "
"Hang on there," Kha says as the prisoner is handed over. "I gave this one my word."The cleric places a hand on the thief's grabs his holy symbol with the other. He says a few words in orcish and a bluish glow comes from the hand touching the elf, causing their wounds to close. "Remember, this is the only second chance you get from me."
Reginald remembers that Eline mentioned that during her investigation of Tulgi she sense a combination of magic and alchemy. Reginald does not discover anything new that he did not learn during his first examination.
Roxaria marvels at Kha for healing the bandit. She had been avoiding talking to Kha simply because he was an orc. But Kha was different. She needed to sit down with him, Reginald and Vauthok. There was so much to learn about all of them.
”Kha, thank you for treating him and keeping your word. Hopefully, he will remember your generosity and pay it back in kind. Come now, let us find Elro and inform him of what we’ve found so far.”
The party arrives at the town hall a 2 story building. It looks more like a large barn with its large double sliding barn doors. There are people milling about going to and from the town hall. Some people are in heated debates while there are several wagons being loaded with trade goods. There are several trappers with armfuls of furs talking to a merchant near his shop to the right of town hall. Out front stands a pair of Glassblades standing guard.
Roxaria walks up to the Glass Blades and points to Vauthok holding the bandit, “That bandit was party to his dead comrades ransacking Pelc’s Curiosities. He needs to be arraigned. We’d also like to speak to Elro if he’s available.”
One of Glass blades takes the thief away. The guard says "Elro is inside. Go inside through the left door."
As the party goes through the door they hear the mooing sounds of cows and the smell of dung. There are rows of stalls with woolly cows with thick fur. You can see Elro trimming an irate cow's hoof.
Reginald waits for the others to finish before responding to Rozaria's question. "I'm only familiar with the Palebank's reputation... to be honest I'm not quite certain where Aeor is. I heard that it may have crashed onto an island? We would need a map and someone who knows where it is to point it out to us. But not to worry! I have heard there are people here, who are in the business of supplying expeditions to Aeor." The gnome's smile brightens considerably, "I'm sure the tavern owner can direct us to the most reputable person available!"
He then frowns suddenly and looks at Eline, "As for the alchemical properties, that is definitely not my area of expertise. I'll have to think on it, while Elaine explains her hypothesis on the possible alchemical properties.... perhaps a hidden compartment in the dagger that we overlooked?" (Arcana +6 while Elaine speaks : 14, hopefully she will jog his memory.)
Replying to Reginald:
"That's really possible," Eline replies. "Huh. I think when we see Elro in just a couple moments, we can give that dagger a second once-over. I'd like to again."
Eline looks to Trem, and her words trail off slightly, her eyes following and tracing his elven jawline, the thin but set position of his lips...they seemed so kissable...
What the hell! Gods! She blushes deeply red, keeps her eyes to her feet for the moment. Despite her flustered-ness, Eline finds herself drawing closer and closer to Trem as they move through the townhall.
She snaps herself out of her reveries for the moment. She needs to focus on the task at hand. She needs to be wary of her surroundings, and be vigilant in her... in her... Gods, he was so damned beautiful!
Eline feels like she is losing her mind a little at a time. She's only been here a day, and already her heart is a-flutter over an elven rogue who, and only who, knows how to get her heart fluttering! Frustrated with herself, Eline notes Elro working with a cow, and approaching him, conjures a couple of dancing lights to aid in his working with the animal. She is silent the entire time, but wants to help in whatever way she can.
Vauthok leaned forward as the glassblade started off with the thief, “I hope to see you again soon.” He grinned savagely and gave the elf a vicious thump to the back the head before turning back to his companions. He walked behind the others in silence into the next room and couldn’t help but arch a eyebrow at Elro’s bovine maintenance. These lowlanders were so peculiar. He brushed passed the others and leaned in closely to get another look. “Pampering the beef..” A rumble made itself known from Vauthok’s stomach region. “Making me hungry..” He grumbled before setting the silver maul down beside the elven leader and retaking his place at the back of the group.
Eline's stomach likewise growls loudly at the thought. She looks up at Vauthok, observing and watching the goliath. She felt somewhat embarrassed around him--maybe it was how small she felt around him? Maybe it was how powerful and skilled he was with the blade, but honestly, despite the bravado of her initial interactions with Vauthok, she was slightly intimidated by him.
"Vauthok, is it? I-I just wanted to let you know that earlier, when we first met up yesterday, and I was drawing you, it was just... it's a habit of mine. I like drawing people, especially unique and cool ones like yourself. Thanks, for fighting so amazingly earlier. We couldn't have survived without your blade." She smiles. "And you're certainly more intimidating to an elven thief than I am!"
Roxaria nods in agreement with Trem and replies, “That is a good idea. It is about lunch time. We can all grab a bite at the Jolly Dwarf and come up with our next plan of action.”
She turns to Elro, “Excuse me, sir. Private Icewind with a report. We were able to talk to Tulgi and…” Roxaria provides details about their encounter with Tulgi’s and Urgon’s home investigation and the encounter with the 6 bandits at Pelc’s Curiousities and that the dagger relic, received from Tulgi, appeared to be a key part of this whole thing, but they’re not exactly sure how it fits in. “…So, my hypothesis is that there might be other folks, other than Hulil, who are trying to acquire this dagger. I’d like to hang on to it for Reginald and Eline to continue figuring this out; however, we never received explicit instructions on what to do with the evidence we acquire. For example, Vauthok has been carrying this silver maul around. I guess my biggest question is: May we hang onto these items to help us solve this mystery or would you prefer we turn them in to the town clerk as evidence?”
Elro looks up with consternation "That is a distressing tale. I must send someone for Verla Pelc. Well for the adventure gear you may continue to use them except his armor as it was a family heirloom that should be sent back to his kin in Uthodurn. Please drop them off at the clerks office.
He looks at the party and notices how some do not have the needed clothing for harsh winters. He suggests "Since you plan to travel than I suggest buying some winter clothing from the merchant next door."
Elro walks towards the door and pause for a moment before leaving. He says "please excuse me I need to see to Verla Pelc."
Roxaria nods quietly understanding that Elro, being the head of the village ought to pay his respects to a well-known merchant. She turns to everyone after Elro has departed. “So, winter clothes and then lunch at the Jolly Dwarf?”
She pulls Reginald aside and pulls the ornate dagger out, “Reginald, as I promised, you may have the dagger. You definitely have more of a historical attachment than I do. I’d be careful, though. I have a bad feeling that whoever is holding onto this relic is going to be a target. If you’re comfortable with possessing it, I’ll do my best to guard you. I won’t be more than an arm’s length from you.”
Vauthok grinned widely at Eline and patted her on the shoulder with a monstrous hand. “Many stare so it doesn’t bother me, but I hope when you drew me that you got my good side.” The goliath playfully tilted his chin up and off to the side as if posing. “That ice mojo you had going was more scary than you think and I’m sure you would’ve had him squealing in no time.” Interrogation was so much fun. Just the thought sent a jolt of adrenaline throughout his giant body.
The giant happily hoisted the maul back over his shoulder and walked over to where Roxaria was explaining the dangers of holding the relic to Reginald. “If the little one doesn’t melt them first I’ll happily smash them to pieces.” He steered the two of them towards the door with a wide smile. “Now come on, Vauthok is hungry and you lowlanders need new mittens.”
Reginald eyes the dagger, then with some hesitation takes it from Roxaria. "I wonder if this town has a library in it that may have more information on Aeor. In the meantime I'm going to ask the inn keeper where the nearest weapon smith he trusts is. Perhaps a proper inspection of the weapon is called for and if he doesn't find anything unusual about it, at least I can have the hilt rebound and blade sharpened."
Roxaria rolls her eyes at Vauthok and laughs, “I just like the shopping part! As much as I would love to buy a new dress, I cannot imagine I’ll find anything that nice around here. I’ll have to suffice with some winter items to keep me warm while out traveling. Maybe a nice trapper cap and mittens. If you want to head to the Jolly Dwarf to eat, I can meet you there. Maybe this merchant has something cute and warm!” She heads to the merchant next door to see what they might have.
To Reginald, she says, “I’ll ask the merchant if he knows of anyone too! Surely all these merchants know each other.”
Roxaria nods affirmingly to Trem, “I trust you.”

(Cure Wounds: 6HP healed, rolled in game log)
The bandit sighs in relief from the healing.

It currently Midday in Palebank.

Why don't we take a short rest after speaking with Elro? Apparently some us are hungry, including myself!
During the walk Trem glances over to Eline occasionally, he's trying to make it look not too obvious.
