Lia: it all makes since. While you did not pay attention in your old empire history class you found the class on ancient magic of the old empire much easier to get into. Blood magic, now out lawed in the 12 Kingdoms, was used quite a bit by Tarren Elfves. You also remember learning that some cults worshiping the old emperor use this style of magic.
Prisca you remember seeing the type of robe the Assassin had on somewhere before but can't remember where during your travels before making it to Westerra.
That's it! It's not the dagger he used so much as what he did with it - cutting himself, soaking it in his blood, and then lunging for me with it ...He was using blood magic like they were using in the days of the Old Empire! If I remember correctly it was the Blood Magic School - a school that made necromancers pause for thought regarding their career choices...
With each word Jairo's eyebrows raise up further and eyes widen. "Oh wow. Seems this old empire has more than a few things to answer for .. right. First things first, breakfast, bacon, eggs and toast. Then market for medicinal supplies, recon of the area and try and gather some local news. We should probably go in disguise. If you both want to have a hunt through this place for some cloaks etc. I'll have a go at rustling up some breakfast."
"Blood magic, that's disturbing. That robe seems familiar. I think I seen it somewhere in my travels..." Prisca shrugs. "I agree lets go with Jairo's plan"
With a Nat 20 you find 3 outfits that fit perfectly. You also find a closet you did not see before full of monster parts...you think? But there is also masks, gloves, disaffected and a scroll of lesser restoration.
Let's use the cloaks for now, and the monster bits for tonight? Disguises are more effective at night because of the changing lights and shadows. I'll go with you and look around some, but I have only 2 or 3 pieces of gold left =(...
Jairo searches through the larder and pulls out some thick slices of bacon. She gets a large skillet pan and drops couple of dollops of butter into it. Pulling a sharp knife she then chops up some chives before putting the bacon in the now sizzling pan. She grabs some eggs and crack them into the pan as well before sprinkling chives and pepper on top. Whilst that cooks she takes the bread and gives it a quick squeeze - surprisingly fresh - and slices 6 pieces off before placing them on a wire rack above the stove to toast. Just before the eggs and bacon are done she pulls the toast off and coats them liberally in butter before serving the eggs on the toast and the bacon on the side. "Food's ready"
During breakfast Jairo watches the others' expressions as they eat trying to judge their opinion.
Throwing the cloak over her shoulders and pulling the hood up, she follows the others out.
Prisca eats the food and nods in appreciation. "Thanks for the food" Afterwards he follows the others as he does not need any more purchases since what he found was all he needed.
I run cooking like smithing it's a tool check for next time. With the 19 everyone gets plus 1 temper a hip hop for a well made meal.
The morning goes uneventfully while there is a few people that talk about the previous day's events for the most part everyone just gone back to life is normal. After you finish a shopping you get back to the hide out and with an 18 you see that no one has been there. The party gathers up their things and heads the last location Jario remembers the thieves hide out being.
Jario give me a check of your choice between history investigation perception or luck which is just a flat D20
You see familiar Mark point down a side ally near the wall that separates low town from night town. Leading the others you head down the ally to a side door.
Knowing the door is and how it's trapped you slip inside.
The room is empty beside a few boxes in one corner and a cot by the wall. There is a door that leads to the front of the house and an open tunnel that is on the wall by the night town side.
You know that the tunnel is a slide that leads to the tunnels under the city, and you won't be able to return this way once you use it.
Jairo nods in agreement with Lia, "There might be a night time curfew in place so if we want to avoid suspicion it would be best to enter during the day. We also need to find some leads on who's selling the journal. Innkeepers could be a good source of gossip, likewise some street sellers may know something." She pauses then adds, "I may have some... friends of friends... that may be able to help us as well but we can't count on it." She pauses again before continuing"Also, this tunnel is more of a slide, so it's one way, no return. Depending how long we're in Night Town, we'll need to find somewhere to bed down and eat. So if there's anything else you want to do before going in, say so now. I'd recommend securing anything valuable and assume everyone will try and pickpocket you or fleece you. Preferably use copper or silver if you have to pay for anything as gold will illicit a lot of unwanted attention." She looks at each of her companions to make sure they understand she's being serious then pats her daggers to make sure they're in place. "I'm ready when you are."
(OOC - yes I believe we collected our belongings post shopping before heading out to find the secret entrance)

The food stores are well stocked and have everything you need for breakfast. While Jario is cooking Lia and Prisca search for cloaks.
Jario give me a cooking check.
Lia and Prisca give me a investigation or perception check.
After breakfast you head to the market. You will find anything non magical your looking for. Can you post a list of what supplies you want please.

Total: 5gp

yum, excellent, that hit the spot, let's go....

...for the monster bits I'd like the hunch back and maybe the fake snout? That and some hair colouring and I should be good to go
On their return from shopping Lia looks their shelter over carefully to see if there had been any visitors while they were gone...

OOC - cooking check - ah cool thanks!
As the group wander around the rough area, Jairo starts looking for any thieves marks or things that match the description she remembers.

What does the party do now?
(ooc - note to all, the characters all brought their gear with them, yes?)
Lia looks about inside the boxes, more for safety sake than expecting to find anything
Perception 18
We should probably continue into the tunnels now that we are here, unless we fancy noughts and crosses until midnight?

"I am ready to head down" Prisca secures his items and adjust the fit of the protective items.
