"Sure, why not?" says Aedar to the halfling. As he takes a coin to pay the vendor, Aedar says "How is the business tonight?" he pauses for a moment before adding "Saw anything interesting so far?"
Klaes takes two gold pieces, and puts on the stand in front of the halfling. "I hope dat covah the drinks for us, and your troubles as well."

“Most generous gentlemen, most generous you are. Tonight has been steady but relatively unexciting with people buying my most excellent beverage to ward off the nights chill. Now two nights ago that was a different matter. Several blokes came down the street car trying what looked like a body in a sack, I know it wasn’t dead as it’s was wriggling. Anyway they took it down into the sewers using the entrance around the corner” the halfling responds.
As the halfing mentions a wriggling body being took down into the sewers, Aedar looks at the rest of the group "Tymora is indeed favouring us! I bet that Floon was in that sack." He pauses a moment to adjust his sword and continues "I still have the strength necessary for only one spell, but my sword arm is well rested. How about you? The scuffle with the kenku drained us a bit, but I think that we should pursue this lead."
"I am a little bit tired from all of this adventuring. I must say that I am not used to this. I hate to say this, but these old bones might need a rest. Howevah, if you insist, I can keep on going." Says Klaes, rotating his shoulders, and rubbing the spot where he got cut pretty deep before.

"Let's be careful then, I have heard stories of strange creatures and monsters that make the sewers of Waterdeep their homes." replies Aedar before thanking again the vendor for the information. "At least it should not be that cold down there." says Aedar as he starts walking towards the sewers' entrance.
Klaes fixes his top hat and his suit ready to keep on going, the he's reminded that they are about to go into the sewers, and he pauses for a moment. He is already thinking about the damage it will do to his beloved suit. With a heavy sigh. "Please lead da wae Aedar."

After a quick discussion on the merits of taking a rest or proceeding the party makes their way to the entrance to the sewers. As the strongest member of the group Aedar levers open the sewer cover while the others watch. A truly malodorous wafts out of the sewer. As the party peers down into the sewer they realise that it is pitch black and only Eryn can make out any shapes at all!
"It's pitch black down there, allow me to fix that." Aedar, still holding open the sewer cover, murmurs a couple of arcane words conjuring four globes of light (Dancing lights). He gestures down and slowly the globes illuminates the passage "This should do. It will give out our position, but considering the place, I prefer to see where I walk."
Klaes heart sinks when he has a whiff of the wonderful scent emanating from the sewers. He sinks his shoulders, and give another heavy sigh. "If I must..." He follows after Aedar.

The party clambers down into the sewer with Aedar leading they find that the sewer which contains a collection of floaties - some identifiable some not - actually heads to both the north and the south. On the southern side of the manhole they can see drawn on the wall in yellow chalk a palm sized circle with ten equidistant spokes.
Being used to the smell of the forest (being full of things that nobody wants to clean), Ophelia is not bothered by the smell of the sewers. Looking at the wine, Ophelia thinks to herself: "What is this murky foul-smelling liquid?" However, she takes a sip anyways. Not being used to the bitter taste of wine, she spits it out immediately, into the sewers. "Euw! This tastes like slug blood!" she says to herself.
(I personally think that wine tastes very bitter.) -Choco
Aedar chuckles at Ophelia's reaction as she sips the wine "You should try something more fruity Ophelia, red wine can taste a bit bitter sometimes." As the group finds the marking on the wall, he says "We are on the right track, I bet that as we proceed south, we will find more of those symbols on the walls."
Eryn drinks hers before following the others down. "Mulled wine is pretty nice on a cold day. We have it around this time of year for our guests at Candlekeep."
She approaches the symbol on the wall to look at it.
As they enter the sewers, Klaes tries in vain to keep his suit off the sewage, and he gives up pretty quickly. He does take out a purple handkerchief from the inside pocket of his suit, and he covers his nose with it.

The party makes its way south along the corridors but the constant crossing of the effluent stream and slippery footing mean that they need to travel fairly slowly. Every time they come to an intersection they quickly find the palm sized circle with ten equidistant spokes drawn in yellow chalk indicating the direction they need to take. Interestingly the path they've been following has been fairly straight and they've not need to change direction. However, after having traveled for a minute and covered about 150 feet the lights from Aedar's Dancing lights suddenly wink out and they're - with the exception of Eryn - plunged into darkness.
So now what?
