Sasha seems a tad bit tired coming down to breakfast but as Aaron joins them she perks up and glances over at him and smiles. She follows the others over to the Six horns, curious over what she will see. She cheers for her friends but seems not interested to partake in any training or competition. "Well, I certainly think we're ready for those bandits on our way north." She says smiling as Gerty hacks the pole to wood chips. "What about you guys? Perhaps you should get something to practice with?"She says looking at Aaron and Loran "Or will you rely on those rough hands of yours?"She says smiling and winking at Aaron.
Gerty lifts her axe into the overhead stance she has taken a shine to and begins cutting. Her blows are mighty, accurate and lethal. The ground shakes with each hit and her final blow cuts clean through the leather iron band and the post, lopping it to the ground.
Magnus looks stunned, and then cheers. “ My God’s that we’re beautiful thing to behold! That is some axe you’ve got there and fantastic form! Well done, well done. I see I will not have to worry bout’ your chances on yer venture.”
"Gerty that was incredible! You're a natural!" Loran shouts with a gleam in his eyes as Gerty Bows for the group.
Pondering Sasha's question as he claps for his new friend's excellent performances; Loran brings a hand to his chin, suddenly feeling a little shy as he thinks. "Maybe? But then again maybe I shouldn't embarrass myself eh?." He says feeling a little outclassed, studying the remains of Gerty's pole from afar. Probably just for paying costumers anyhow,
( loran should practice too. It’s for all of your prep..)
Magnus, seeing LORAN hesitation, realizes he doesn’t have any weapon other than a whip. He heads over to a rack and grabs a long sword and wooden shield and hands it to him. He shows him how to hold the shield and how to cut while still protecting himself behind it. He urges him to take his turn at the pell.
Aaron looks on astounded as everyone is just tearing up the dummies - he certainly didn't expect them to do as well as they had done. He then turns to Sasha and smiles, "Ah you know what? You're probably right. I've never really had formal training so, probably best to get some reps in."
He looks a bit nervous as he approaches. He draws a single handaxe that is attached to his belt, and gives it a few swings.
Magnus says to Aaron. “ none too shabby young fella. You got some good solid hits. With a larger weapon you would ave’ done some good damage there.”
and to LORAN he says. “ that was a good first try. Don’t grip the sword so tight and try and keep your body relaxed and fluid. Try and continue the motion of the sword after each hit so it stays in place naturally. Why don’t you give it another 5 swings to see how it feels.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Aarons face starts to redden with frustration and embarrassment. He replaces the handaxe back onto its belt loop, and heads over to the rack. Grabbing the largest axe he can find, he picks it up. "This oughta do the trick." He heaves the great axe up onto his shoulder, and makes his way over to the pell.
“ Gerty’s attacks were so successful because they were not only strong, but they were disciplined. They were precise. Your first two hits were great, but you got wild with your application of force and hence less effective. Good lesson to learn early. You did meet the dmg criteria so you can move to the next event. This one will bring agility into the mix.”
“ Now, LORAN. That was a good try. You are definitely going to need a little more work on this, in order to use the long sword effectively. He take s the long sword and shield, and replaces them with two short swords. Now, try these on fer size instead. Dona let their size fool ya, these blade are lethal. What they lack in length, they make up in speed and accuracy. Instead of one attack per chance, you can swing twice, so a total of 10 whacks at the pell. You can strike high and low, both high, both low or on a broken rhythm to the same target. Let’s see how ya do now”

Loran takes the Shortswords in his hands, feeling out the weight of them as he turns back to the pell. Taking a deep breath, he unleashes a flurry of attacks. Trying his best to apply what he's being taught. First high... Then low... Then Alternate. Yeah, that sounds about right?

High Hopes, Low Rolls. Timezone Is EST. Surely THIS one will reach an ending...
Sasha cheers for Loran and Aaron too, gasping as Aaron almost cuts the pole in half with one of his blows with his mighty axe. "Clearly you won't need my feeble magics among you fierce warriors." She says with a soft laugh as Loran finishes.
Aaron stands back and leans on the great axe, taking some deep breaths. He avoids eye contact with the others, and his body language is telling that he may have taken Magnus’ criticism as an insult, rather than it’s intended purpose. Eventually, he heaves the great axe back on to his shoulder before bringing it over and placing it back onto the rack. He then rejoins his newfound companions, and waits for Magnus next challenge. He offers a slight grin to Sasha as he takes his place.
“ Outstanding Loran! See how the swiftness of the lighter blades and their ease of maneuver makes for a lethal outcome. All of you have done very well. Now to the next stage”
Magnus walks you to a set of pulls that are lined up the tops of these pells have swiveling cross bars and some kind of hose attached. Magnus grabs a bellows as he tells you the next objective.
” Fer this set, you are going to move through the poles, avoiding the blows from the poles while striking you own blow. The first pole you only dodge. The 2nd pole you dodge then strike, 3rd pole dodge and strike, and the last pole you dodge.”
Magnus plugs the end of his bellows into a small hose sticking up from the sand and begins to step on it to pump air. The cross arms begin to turn one way when he presses down and when he releases they spring back the other way.
( for this test your going to roll a dex for 1st pole, a dex and an attack for pole 2 and 3 and then a dex check for pole 4. Do them on a separate line for each pole to make the results easier to read. I will roll for the poles attacks for each person prior. For the dodge your roll must be higher than the attack roll or you get beamed.)
Gerty skillfully dodges the first swing arm, barely dodges the second one as she swings but misses the target at pole 2. The arms on pole 3 catch Gerty, but glance off her armor with little effect as she lays into the pole with her axe for a solid hit. After striking pole three she successfully dodges the last pole arms.
” Very good Miss Gerty. This is a great simulation of muLtiple combatants in a battle. You avoided well and landed a killing blow on one of the opponents. Great Job, next up”
